Has there been ANYTHING from rockstars mouth whatsoever, or any leaker or SOMETHING about wether or not Online takes place in some alternative universe or what is going on here. Hell, even on the new Kult FM in online, the host references Zero from san andreas. Yes the voice actor of zero is the DJ, but are they going to try to merge 3D era with HD? I wouldnt even be surprised, I’ve already been betrayed with the Black Ops games and thier universe, just f*cking shoot me already i mean, even if SP is referenced by lester in online whatever whatever, we still have gangs like the oniels popping up even tho trevor killed all of them, makes no sense and feels cheap. can anyone weigh in on this? Timeline sh*t aside but also Trevor saying that he's never been to LS before in V while clearly being there for his heists in Online is a red flag that Online is canon to V. Payne Posted December 28, 2020 Share Posted December 28, 2020 It is not the same Trevor we see in V, he is but not exactly, considering he paid a lot of money to some mute randos to get something done, while in V he does most of the stuff by himself. In the end, he still fails but I’m talking about the actual action part, in Online he literally talks to Online characters on the phone with Ron, that’s it. His contact missions were the same. Thats the thing, all the “connections” in the HD games feel retconned and cheap, they feel thrown in, instead of packie actually having a decent role hes just a side character with no actual cutscenes or depth, makes no sense. This Zero thing isn't really an issue, its not like he literally said "its Zero" In HD universe its just some random guy, for us in the real world it's just something to laugh at. I'd say GTA Online is just a messy alternate universe where the world simultaneously takes place between 2013 and 2020 with 0 continuity to anything. Some player who just starts playing in 2021 will land in a 2013 world, but if they choose to go to the casino right after, they're now in 2019. (That was a very long drive to the casino I guess.) I don't consider it canon to the HD Universe timeline either. I feel like that messes up the legacy for Franklin that was intended by the original writers (Dan Houser). If they wanted for Franklin to end up back with Tanisha, they would have included that in the original game. It seems disrespectful to the original artwork to just throw something so major in like that "Oh and guess what, he had a happy ending after all yaaaaayyyyyy!"
