Dumbest daily ever. Anthony Foreman mission, solo against 3 humans in ambush.

I didn't even realized the mission was against 3 humans or I would have reset the server to get another one.  Worse, the never even showed on screen before I got sniped.   And wft?!!!  It locks Anthony Foreman after that impossible mission?

 

I am definitely not falling for this kind of daily ever again.  R*, mess with me once shame on you, mess with me twice shame on me.

You might have accepted, a posse assassination mission.

 

FYI - Anthony Foreman has some of the best Paid Killing missions.

There is probably a remark before the mission intro that you will haver a higher level of sucess if you are in a posse

 

But no one forces anyone to do every dailies listed...

Yeah, I've run into that as well--but it's not just Anthony Foreman that can "offer" you a posse assassination mission. My understanding is that any Stranger mission has that potential (though fairly rare).

 

I don't mind -being- the target, as I enjoy evading other players (know some good hideouts and evasion methods), but it's annoying to not have a choice when you want to do a PvE mission.

I believe you can only get them from the true underworld types like Anthony Foreman, The Boy, Sean Maguire etc. It'd be pretty weird (but amusing) to have someone like Bonnie MacFarlane or Hamish send you off to assassinate some unsuspecting victim.

Sometimes they can apparently even offer posse assassinations vs a full posse that's at the opposite end of the map and the timer starts at 5 minutes so you don't even have time to get there in the first place, so yeah a percentage of every type of mission is garbage.

The cooldown just adds insult to injury.

 

I think I've done perhaps 15 stranger missions total, only ever for dailies, they don't pay that well and some are clearly stupid.

 

That's the benefit of having to wait until PC launch to play: I missed the early days when stranger missions were all there were to do, and they paid even less back then - like $5 and 0.01 gold.

Having recently watched a release day live stream from my recommended videos, I can say the day one players have really endured a LOT!

To any still playing, a salutary tip o' the hat!

You all deserve much more.

Yup. I was one of those in the early days on PS4. Stranger mission after stranger mission. Some were good cuz you could park the wagon you rescued before reaching the destination, the one to Braithwaite for example, and sit there picking off enemy after enemy who was coming after you. That actually gave you more XP total than the mission so basically you doubled your XP plus you got whatever you looted. But the payouts were not good.

That was exactly it.  I only did realize I was going after a posse of 3 when I got sniped on approach.  So I run for like 4 minutes thinking I was going to still make it (I was assuming NPCs) only to get sniped and the stranger locked.

 

Next time I get one of those I'm resetting the session immediately and not waste my time.

I think Maybelle Colter at Old Harry Fan in Scarlett Meadows gives you an assasination, too.

Don't forget about Joe! But yeah there's "good" and "bad" stranger mission npcs, Tony Foreman being one of the bad ones that give you missions typically related to criminal behavior.

Everyone is fooled into this the first time, but most of us had this happen in late 2018.  I think you just need to kill one of them.  If its a daily, why not?  Many players do it even though it isnt a daily.  If are they across the map, spawn into your camp.

Stranger missions can be a reliable source for treasure maps. Slim pickings, all around these last few weeks. Started to notice a drop off after the daily gold nerf.

Yeah sometimes he/they will have a paid killing and or tracking which is an NPC mission. But if it says player/posse assassination I will just walk away and not start the mission. Love being the target of them but I do not like starting one against another player myself.

My husband and I did that one some time ago, the enemies never stopped coming It was like a war zone. We ended up knifing our way out of the mansion when the NPC's were surrounding the entrances and afterwards they kept chasing us out of town, it was crazy. 

Didn't get much of a reward though, like you. But it was an exciting mission.

It should say something like "Player assasination." 

 

What I do is go and do other things, then come back later; usually there is a non-player killing one then.

Then I talked to him and it wasn't a stupid posse/other assination one

but was something like get a wagon/whatever. Then I reformed posse again

after, since perm posse anyway.

Put up the fight, you will be surprised how bad some ppl are, I run SB and sometimes I get cover indoors and wait to go melee on them, its hilarious.

I just want to get it over and move on. Don't feel like changing servers. I do know that even though I stand perfectly still it takes them a while to shoot me.

 

I do have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which makes making quick motions with my thumb and wrist extremely painful which is another reason I try to avoid having to do things in game that require me to have to use repeated quick actions. Shootouts are one of those things. One of the reasons I stroll through the game world at a pretty slow pace. I'll fight when I have to for as long as I can take the pain but I will not voluntarily do so.

 

I do use a controller because in the past when I tried mouse and keyboard in games it just didn't work out. You have to work with two pieces of hardware instead of the one controller. I have to credit the mouse/keyboard users. You have a much better memory than I do since you can remember all the keyboard actions.

I think it's still a mixed bag. since the update there was 2 days I found 10 maps, well 5 each day. that felt almost unreal. a little dryspell before that, but still, a handful of maps in 1 day is really OKAY in my book!
