QoL improvements

If you've thought of a "Quality of Life" improvement to RDO, what would it be?

Here's my quick list:

* Alligators no longer static: slowly/randomly moving around more on both land and in water, making game play less predictable and stale.

* Skunks (if you get within ~10 feet) can spray players, producing temporary effects similar to Toxic Moonshine, but non-fatal to players.

* Lawmen AI:

  - Replace idiotic red "wanted" circles with larger and more acute vision cones, limit max roaming posse size to eight (instead of ~15) and three respawn attempts before 'giving up'.

  - Shots are more accurate when they're not riding on horses.

* General AI:
  - No more stupid "leave the big red area" BS for Moonshine Still poisoning and Bounty Hunters. Survive killing all the enemies (and, when applicable, destroy the still) and you're done.
  - No more NPCs who can see/track/shoot you through dense foliage, tents, wood fences, etc.

  - More consistent and balanced enemy damage: no more ultra-weak shots no matter who's shooting at you, -but- also no more SecuroServ three or four-shot zombies.

* Herbs: Across the board, as soon as you pick the herb your character can move (no more frozen-in-place-until-animation is finished BS).

* Horses:
  - Whistle for your horse at any time: no more modal limits or outright denial (e.g. train track area northeast of Twin Rocks).
  - Your horse will follow right behind you through water, and no longer waste your time by walking around it, no matter the water body size.
  - When called, your horse will always move quickly, and stand about two feet from you, making it simple to stow animals, sell items stowed on your horse to the butcher, and yet not being almost trampled on; giving you space to move if need be.

* General UI:
  - No more waiting for 'item used' counters to complete by "popping up" on-screen before you can open your weapon wheel.

  - Consistent mouse wheel navigation when using the item inventory, and fix bug that prevents mouse clicks from selecting items

My understanding is that R* does, in fact, read these forums--they would be stupid not too as it's an excellent source of information about the game. Though how much and how often they peruse here is another matter.

I'm strictly interested in what other players see as things that need improvement in the game.

If R* had read these forums and listened to the community, they had improved the game by now and a long time ago. including your list of improvements in the first post.

Therefore my statement is still that R* doesn't give a sh*t what this community adresses here...And will never do...

There will always be a big difference between reading what players want, and implementing them.

On rare occasion, R* does implement some player ideas: one such idea was making griefers stand out with red dots and making them visible to other players at much larger distances.

But on the whole, R* picks and chooses what they want far more than what players want.

I recently posted that they removed the ability to see red dots anywhere on the map. That was true. One player mentioned you can still see them. The other day I did see a red player across the map from where I was so they must have reinstated it because I could not see them that far away a while back.

QoL upgrades I'd like to see:

Billiard tables at major saloons, playable either solo or vs other players or non cheating NPCs.

No longer have your horse stuck if you leave it to continue a mission, say steal a wagon for example.

Fix all areas where your horse automatically steers right or left without any control input.

The two biggest offenders for me are when approaching Shady Belle, the horse veers left into the end of the bridge, and when approaching the yellow bungalow in Lagras the horse veers to the right

When you call for any wagon while standing on a major road, have it actually appear nearby and ON the road, not in the middle of a field 1/4 mile away between a tree and a rock with the message 'your wagon can't reach you'.

Utter bullsh*t coding, a 4 year old could do better.

Ability to mix and match all clothing items.

Totally overhaul saddle mechanics so there is a reason to own something other than the Naco. I don't mind it, but everybody using the same saddle is boring and lame.

Also make saddlebags have differing inventory bonuses so there are pros and cons to each, instead of everyone owning the same collector bags.

Make all coats available for purchase for any horse at an exorbitant price for non-standard choices. We gotta have something to spend on, and a lot of people want more variety.

More stable stalls, maybe divided up by location so you can only call/switch horses to whatever is stored at that particular stable.

Make bandoliers actually do something, each one carries an increased amount of one particular type of ammo, say 50 extra rounds.

============================

I have posted all of this using the feedback form, I suggest anyone with ideas do the same here:

https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback

If we all post ideas they can't cay 'we didn't see that requested anywhere'.

Yeah, more realistic but would not be a "QOL" improvement for me  ;)

I remember when I first had to hunt one that I thought that WOULD happen.

YES, that is a big one. I acually LOOK for a fork in the road and on THAT to call the wagon; having several choices seems to make it easier

for the wagon to not be so stupid.

I'd like being able to play the Poker solo against NPCS.

My biggest request:

"Sell Half", for stacks at butcher/doctor/general store etc., instead of the only choice being to sell the ENTIRE

stack or one at a time (which locks it up "processing." )

Would be nice if a horse could actually walk onto those pallets by the cotton plant in Rhodes rather than having to jump on them. 🙄

Distinct shapes for each posse member's radar blip aside from the leader's 4-point star. It'd be handy to just be able to say "Hey, come to the triangle, I found a coin" or "I need help, I'm the square!"

yeah for sure. it's also an excellent place to mingle and go undercover. then spread hype for example, or defend updates and/or the game in general. when there's a sh*tstorm certain people will pop up and tell you it's not that bad etc...

I call 'em "community moles"

I can think of one person in these forums that may be just that.

I don't know when they'd have time since they are so busy fixing all the issues.

My two main gripes with this game, is the inability to split stacks of items, and there not being an in-game method of mass-deleting photographs.

After that, I'd have to say:

Having the ability to choose one horse and one wagon stationed at camp, and/or:
Having the ability to select weapons when riding the hunting/bounty wagon.

Better visuals when using eagle eye.

With the winter weather that's been active for the last few days, it's served to remind me just how quickly it grows old for me when I have trouble following eagle-eye trails, either when following animals, bounties, or searching for plants.

There should be a high-visibility option in the settings that allows players to set their own eagle eye colours.

Even when the winter weather is gone, I'd like the option to distinguish between plants and herbs that I have the max amount of, and those I can still collect. The plants I have a full stock on, should either show up a different colour, or not show up at all.

The ability to break down role outfits into their separate parts.

The ability to donate goods to other player's camps when my own camp is maxed out.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The inability to select multiple photos for deletion is inexcusable.

I mean, who has never seen a menu with corner checkboxes to tick when selecting upload or delete?

Are they hiring Ethiopian pirates who've never seen a computer before to do their programming? 🙄

The ability to donate to other player's camps without being in a posse together would be a significant improvement.

If you run at them the horse will trip and throw you like a catapult.

Who knew pallets were so hard to traverse, having worked in a few factories I must be part mountain goat, never had much difficulty navigating their ultra complex topography.  😁

And the fact that we just walk up to them skin 'em and toss them in the back of our horse is laughable.

  • If a plant or other item is full in your inventory... don't make it shine in Eagle Eye so that you don't waste time trying to pick it up.
  • Allow specifying how many of an item to sell. Or at least give a "sell to half of max" option. Button disabled if you have less than that half, of course.
  • Collectibles that are randomized should have at least ONE of each item on the map.  Fossils are a particular offender.   If there is no reliable way to complete a collection, that collection is pointless... so either fix it or get rid of the collection altogether, don' waste our time with collections that never get completed.
  • Make animals and tracks more visible in the snow.
