zPhoenix
My RDO naming is a mess. My in-game nickname is very old a name from when I first got on Epic. My forum nickname is my original GTA name. So, since people got to know me by my forum nickname I figured I'd change my in-game name to match. QUESTIONS: Are there any negatives to using the same name as in forum? (like make me an unwilling target of trolls) Where do I find details on the proper steps to change my in-game nickname without losing progress or my link to the social club? Krommer
I don't think you CAN change it. The weird thing is, on Xbox at least, it shows my gamertag name even though it lets you name the online character. So I'm "Krommer", even though I named this character "Pookie" (so everyone else just sees "Krommer" too.) Oh, you can on PC I guess: https://www.reddit.com/r/PCRedDead/comments/es1fr6/if_you_change_your_rdo_pc_character_name_via/ "athoxton 2 points·11 months ago I did it and kept my progress" "CALIFORNIA_GRZLY 2 points·11 months ago Nice, thanks." zPhoenix
On the PC it makes you change it on R* Social club. And it only allows one change per year. Of course zPhoenix was taken - probably by me from another game - and of course there is no way to merge the accounts. I ended up renamig to something else that makes sense. TBH this whole thing left me wondering if the R* developers got their degrees from a flea market. What a total cluster * of a design. Krommer
Ah, yeah I still think it is so weird that your gamertag is what shows (on XBOX and the version of that on PS4.) So instead of seeing names that might fit with the setting, you see a cowboy person named AZRAELLORD98436 or something while, as I said, you pick a name for your character while making it on the Xbox (which is never seen by anyone, including you, while playing except on that character screen where you still see it.) On PC it is worse, your gamertag is based on R* Social Club and tied to the email you used, you don't get to choose it, it isn't "per game" and it isn't associated with your R* forum account either (although in the forum you will likely use just one of your many R* tags since the browser will remember the latest one you used). The mix makes for a total mess, where you are quite likely to end up with different nametags in game vs forum, unless this is the first R* game you play... and no way to sync them up.
