Weird things you used to think when you were young about the GTA series

Fun fact: Despite the Hotring event not being in SA, the game still features all three Hotring Racer cars from VC and they're updated to SA standards (fuel cap weak point, dirt collection etc.), which means R* must've intended to add them in. One of them (hotrina) can be spawned with a cheat code and one of them (hotring) spawns as a reward after completing "8-Track", but the third one (hotrinb) goes unused.

For sure? I thought hotrinb is what is used in the race itself and can be spawned with a cheat. Try it out for good measure.

It's just anecdotal evidence, but I remember cheating to get that version all the time back in the day, and it was distinct from the other 2 by its different engine sound.

I've just checked the SCM and it only has one instance of the hotring model in the entire code, and even that's used for the parked car reward after completing "8-Track".

Firstly, I thought that TBoGT's protag was gay and not the bodyguard of a gay club owner.

Second thing is, I thought hot coffee was literal and I could take people out to coffee.

Everybody expect protag named Toni that is gay.

When I played Vice City for the first time, in the Distribution mission I thought Tommy sells actual ice cream and I was confused on why the cops are after him during the mission. It wasn't until months later I found out he was actually dealing drugs and the ice cream company is actually a front for drug distribution.

My cousin is full of sh*t when it comes to GTA San Andreas, He would tell stories like, He saw a UFO and bigfoot in Mt. Chiliad and as a kid back then, I believed him like a f*cking moron because I saw a video on youtube where Claude in GTA San Andreas was dancing with aliens.

I remember being so excited when I completed the mission "Burning Desire" in GTA San Andreas because I saw a "Hot Coffee" video somewhere in the web and I didn't know that it was a mod, so I spent a long time dating Denise to 50% progression then the time came and she ask for a coffee, I was like "Ohmygod!" and I was making sure my mom doesn't enter my room. I ended up being disappointed because it didn't show the "Hot Coffee", just the house and the camera shaking.

And he told Niko that he would bang Roman but saved himself by saying that "Brucie likes pussy" which doesn't change anything about Liking Roman

I thought the three GSF homies you can recruit in GTA San Andreas were Big Smoke, Ryder and Sweet.

I thought the overweight homie was Big Smoke (... obviously), the dreaded homie in the plaid shirt was Ryder, and the homie in the jersey was Sweet.

I wondered why they looked so different in cutscenes and chalked it up to technical issues.

I used to think that 8-Ball and Claude both live together in the Portland safehouse in III considering how the former says "where we can lay low" in the beginning of "Give Me Liberty".
It took me until "Bomb Da Base: Act II" to actually realize that 8-Ball actually has his own bomb shop in Harwood.

Not really when I was young specifically, I guess I used to think this until I learned what the term meant, but I thought Ken Rosenberg was running after ambulances in his spare time and that's what Kent Paul meant by "ambulance chaser"

I wasn't young but after playing GTA V for 3 years and doing the Fresh Meat mission probably well over 20 times, it took a random conversation on here for me to find out that the main Chinese guy there was Wei Cheng and not just a random goon.

All I used to know about the literal easter egg in a secret room in Vice City (which you get to by jumping through a window from near a helipad on top of a building) was that it was somewhere near that building and you had to jump through a window to get to it. I spent ages trying to jump through different windows down on the street, never thought it would be higher up.

When I heard Pony by Ginuwine in GTA 4, I thought "Juices flowing down your thigh" was "Jesus glowing, damn you're fine".

I thought they were trying to put some weird Christian sh*t on their radio.

I was about 7-8 years old, and the first time I played a GTA was III on my uncle's ps2, I only played to take cars out of the export garage and park them, in addition to continually asking my uncle how I could get the blue police car that appeared in various artworks but did not appear in the game, he had a lot of patience with me😂😂

This is a weird thing I did and not think, but you guys know how Johnny sleeps when you save the game in TLaD? You know, that position where he sits up on the bed and leans forward?

Well, the night after I played TLaD for the first time, I tried sleeping like that, only to fall down and land on my ass in the middle of the night.

I thought Diaz kidnaps Lance after "Supply & Demand" in VC because Lance intentionally unplugged the VCR and left a Desert Eagle nearby as a prank before the mission's first cutscene so Diaz would get angry and shoot the VCR by himself.

And during my very first playthrough of the game, I used to think "Supply & Demand" involves buying a new VCR for Diaz for $100 from the pretty-vaguely-mentioned "cargo"-selling freelancer while racing against and fighting off armed Cuban gang members who also want a new VCR by coincidence.:kekw:

'Ey, it eats yer favourite El Burro movie, it dies.

I still have a VCR and occasionally play through a fancy great VHS which can Dolby Surround with Hi-Fi if ye know what yer doing with it and have the right equipments. Those can rumble quite good, despite peoples saying otherwises. Having a CRT TV crowns the whole experience. (Oh and NOT ALL 4:3 MOVIE CONVERSIONS ARE PAN & SCAN. SOME ARE OPEN MATTE A.K.A. YOU SEE TOO MUCH, NOT TOO LITTLE. DAMN THAT COMMON ERROR PEOPLE DISTRIBUTE (HEH) AS WELL.)

Mang read through this thread and WHYT. While younger (I'm born three years before LCS takes place) I definitely saw peoples playing them GTA games but I never had any odd weird things I thought aboot thems. That said I never used der imagination when playing der vidyan gaems, but outside those... MANG.

I've mentioned elsewhere that I got those PS2 GTA games after turning 18 so I got nothing on that kek. Thus I also didn't have any language barrier issues since I knew a bit at that point, but there's one game I had issues because LANGUAGE, but it wasn't any GTA.

LowTierDude

I played VC on PC back when I was like 10 years old after eating at Wingstop and my fatass thought that Broken Wings by Mr. Mister was about a some guy getting diarrhea from eating at Wingstop.
