Weird things you used to think when you were young about the GTA series

Recommended Posts

I used to think the Kent in Kent Paul was his first name until I discovered GTA Wiki a few years later and found out that it was simply referring to Kent in the UK.

And if I said his name out loud really fast it kinda sounded like I was saying cu….Paul with my teenage Aussie accent. Well you can fill in the blanks.😛

There's even unused phone call dialogue about this as well, at 2:56.

I spent a fair few hours driving around Staunton Island, believing that at a certain point of day, I'd find Lazlow interviewing some of the pedestrians, as per the radio show.

Also, regarding GTA3, I thought at some point that road on Portland Island would get fixed as the days went by in-game.

Edit - I would like to point out that this was a time when I was a young teenager, and internet was still not a major thing, and I was heavily immersed in the world of Liberty City. My imagination took over, and like I said, small things just made me think. I mean, take a step back and it's not hard to think that a road would get fixed as the game progressed, but yes, I do understand the Lazlow thing now seems daft, given how the show was on a loop and seeing him in the open world would allow you the chance to kill him, but as I said, it was just a thought that took over when I was immersed in the world.

I remember thinking Caesar owned the Loco Low garage in San Andreas

Idk why but it made sense

For years I thought that the Bloodring Banger's name is some kind of a sex joke. Then, just a few days ago I found out that "banger" is just the British term for beater or jalopy.

I'm a bit disappointed.

I have to admit this made me chuckle more than it should’ve lol.

That sounds painful and pretty f*cking gross hahaha.

R* missed a golden opportunity right here.😛

In the beta he did, though references to that were pretty well nuked out of the final game.

(Warning: You'll hear the name "Loco Low Co" more often than for the rest of your life combined, and it has all the potential to turn into an annoying earworm.)

In a way it's kinda like a reversal of British/American use of the word Fag, whereas Brits use it to refer to cigarettes and Americans use it to refer to people like myself

This time around, the original British term is more innocent & plain than the American one

Knowing R* this is probably a double entendre anyway.

In Australia since basically no one calls them a cigarette I have had people come up to me before and ask “do you have a fag?”.

The awkwardness is too damn high.

It's not really weird, but in the Just Business mission's cutscene Smoke enters the building whereas CJ tries to chat up a girl sitting outside. Smoke then shouts "Motherf*ckers!", and CJ abandons the girl and rushes inside to help Big Smoke.

I thought until very recently that the girl was in fact a male crossdresser, so when CJ tries to talk to talk to him, the crossdresser swears at him: "Motherf*ckers!", and CJ scared runs to Smoke.

I always thought it was Sonny Forrelli that had the deal in the beginning of VC ambushed. When Tommy calls him in the hotel room, you can see loads of cash and coke on the table in front of him, so I figured that was some "film language" to let us, the audience, know that Sonny betrayed Tommy, which Tommy doesn't know. I thought he wanted to get the drugs and the money from the original deal, then when he found out Tommy survived, he was pushing it even further by having Tommy come up with the money again.

Of course what I never questioned was how the money and the drugs got to Liberty City from Vice City within the hour or so inbetween the deal getting ambushed and Tommy calling him.

I could've sworn one of TBOGT's San Juan Sounds songs said "I miss our leaders". What do they mean by "leaders"? Do they miss Fidel Castro and Che Guevara? Is that song some kind of Cuban goverment psychological propaganda?

I mean, it's kind of a late response, but those were probably the songs by reggaeton duo "Wisin y Yandel". For the intros, outros and ad-libs of their songs, they usually called themselves "Los Lideres" (the leaders, as in the leaders of their music genre). They also called themselves "Los Extraterrestres Musicales" (the musical aliens).

And it gets weirder when they mention the producers of the song, including one "Victor el Nаzi".

Yeah. Thing is, I was pretty young when I posted that. I used to be real obsessed over GTA's radio soundtrack at the time (I do remember some of my posts about that time were largely about the games' radio music) that I started to think about some of the songs maybe a bit too much. It's in the thread's title, after all.
