i used to think gta 3 was called gta liberty city and that it took place in 2011 when i first played i thought gta is the same with the irl universe i remember u could enter rock city in gta vc and that there was an fbi washington spawning parked in washington beach which never happens and  i remember gta vc had less missions? and i thought gta vc takes place in 2006 when i first played it and i thought gta sa takes place in 2009 when i first played and i remember the games being longer and bigger and i thought u can visit all lc and vc in sa

Before I got a PS3 for Christmas in 2008, I was one of those numbnuts who looked up everything about a game that I was interested in playing (so spoilers galore). For GTA IV,

Spoiler

I read that Roman dies in one of the endings (without knowing the context behind it), so I thought he'd turn out to be an antagonist by the end a la Big Smoke and Ryder, and that Niko had to kill him. :sadkek:

I'm glad my assumption about our favorite Cousin was 100% wrong.

When GTA V was set to release I imagined this game as best rockstar game. Based on trailers I imagined this game as best of GTA:SA and GTA IV features perfected. That means big and meaningful map, elaborate story, real time realistic car damage, realistic gunfights, many interiors, side missions like drug wars or gang wars.

Oh boy, Looking back it was weird to have so huge expectations...

Exactly, my man. That's precisely everything I thought it would be... the best GTA game ever.:sadkek:

Turns out it isn't even 0.001% of what IV is and the only thing the game and their developers do best is disappoint us all. Sheesh.:cringekek:

Ha I also had that theory about Roman for the first portion of the game for some reason. The idea quickly went away though.

I couldn't have put it better myself. But sadly, history repeats itself ("even if it hasn't happened yet", according to Panjit Gavaskar): when I was just a wee lad in 2021, I thought those rumored Trilogy remakesters were going to knock all of our socks off. I believed that they'd be so good, that they'd be such a high quality effort, it would make Bluepoint look like amateurs in comparison. So I was joyous when they were finally revealed! But then the words "adapted by Grove Street Games" were burned into my memory, and the games actually released...

Trilogy was for me past Online, past Leslie Benzies and Dan Houser and others leaving and after E&E trailer

So I had really low expectations, people were mad about me saying it will be mediocre at best and RDR2 was their swan song and last good game.

But when I read GSG is making this, it was lightning strike for me. Worst outcome I can imagine, still I cannot figure for what they bought Rockstar Dundee...

I even remember some reddit post that was leak that say it will be directly ported from renderware with sligthly less upgraded graphic, but this rumours was kinda giving hope it says these games will have real time damage. People call me spammer when I post these allegedly bullsh*ts, rockstar will never do this :modkek: .

At this point, I'm convinced that Dundee was the main studio working on E&E before their acquisition, when they were still Ruffian Games.

Studio known for some of best remakes on Unreal engine.

Well this sounds logical, but I found really small logic in big gaming companies.

So maybe you are right, sadly.

Imagine if they hired modders for trilogy remaster. These games will sold like hotcakes, no need to threat them with lawsuit and it will be kind of fan service and probably it will cost less that GSG studio. But they choose corporate reign, so it is certified hood sh*t.

IIRC, the Halo Master Chief Collection (which Dundee worked on) had a launcher running in UE, while the games themselves were still based on the original engines. Imagine if a bulk of the work they did was just for E&E's new startup menu :sadkek:

At this moment I think E&E was made by bunch of hygiene technicians.

I used to think that GTA V has most realistic AI. When I played it for first time these graphics were for me mindblown, so I get false idea that AI is on par too. So I tried to pay ticket to police officer, make excuses from problems, try to pet animals.

I instantly regret these and when I get into fight for just standing in metro station I figured its most stupid AI ever.

Fun fact is, that RDR2 have some kind of these mechanics as I imagined it for GTA V .

We all used to think GTA V was the most advanced open world game at one point. The hype was just so big.

I used to think similarly about everything being hyper realistic and detailed but with GTA 4 since it looked so real at the time that i legit felt like we hit the graphical peak when it comes to video games.

I still like both games tho.

Being fascinated with maps from a young age, I used to come up with original names for a bunch of streets in Vice City to enhance my personal experience, though most of the names were extremely generic and just related to something that was alongside it. Time to let out the demons of the past and show some of them off: in Ocean Beach, starting from the hospital and ending at the fountain opposite the Hunter helipad was "Hospital Street", in front of Little Havana Streetwear was "Clothes Shop Street" and the northern road in Little Haiti was "Phil Cassidy Street" because as we all know, cities are known for naming their streets after local arms dealers living out of a seedy trailer. :jkek:

That's actually a great and impressive thing to think as a kid, a well thought out one.👍

Remind me of the time I called Jefferson Towers in San Andreas as "that place with christmas tree".

Back when IV was new, I was told that Spider-Man was an Easter egg, and that if you took a pic of him, Niko would be given $1 million. Was also told he'd spawn anywhere in southern Algonquin. I spent weeks believing it.

Interestingly enough in the 2018 Spider-man game there's a mission that references Niko and Roman.

I genuinely miss rumors like these back then. Yea they f*cking suck as an adult but as a kid when you're reading about them online it's fun just to try them out.

I remember reading online like a week or so after IV came out that, if you sat in a car you just entered long enough, Niko would put a seatbelt on and you wouldn't fling out of the windshield upon a wreck. I spent a year trying to see that happen lol

Yeah nowadays it sucks because it gets debunked too quickly. And also in retrospect they are pretty bad rumors. I remember trying to get a weird radio station at Big Ear for like 10 minutes. :kekw:

I remember reading about SA's 2-player mode someplace back when I first played it on PC, I actually spent hours trying to find a 2-player pickup in the game but didn't realize that it's a PS2\Xbox-exclusive feature.:kekw:

That was fake? I thought it was if you saved it at your safehouse Niko would put a seatbelt on.

what

When I played VC for the very first time I wasn't very good with English, I thought Tommy and Sonny are the same person and that the black-coated Sonny we see in the Marco's Bistro intro later changes into a Hawaiian shirt before going to Vice City merely hours after the discussion.

All this because both had very similar-sounding names and they looked kinda like "twins"-ish.🤪

I used to think that CJ offended Jizzy's hooker who was dropped off at Downtown in the first mission. Whoever made the translation translated "make an example out of them" as "explain yourself to them." So I simply though that CJ offended her by not being interested in her and now he had to apologize to the hoe and the priest, whom I believed to be the prostitute's biological dad. And I didn't get why CJ decided to kill them all, I thought he didn't want to apologize and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Jizzy isn't too upset about the fact that I killed them all.

In Robbing Uncle Sam I thought Ryder had an uncle named Sam that we were taking the guns from and the soldiers were his hired guards. I couldn't pass the forklift segment for the longest time, so I expected there to be some confrontation with "Sam" in the flesh once it'd be over.
