Cayo Perico - tips & tricks

I don’t know if anyone has been doing this recently but for the scope out, right before you enter the velum to fly to Cayo Perico, call your assistant and keep the screen open to call for the helicopter. Get in the velum and fly over till you finish the whole guard frisking you cut scene, then call for the helicopter. Jump in the back and put the waypoint near the tower and just enjoy a easy flight over all the guards and cameras.

So I can´t take the speedboat in and the sub out?

you can only have one approach vehicle

but you could take sub in then go to dock and take a parked boat or shoot the driver of a patrol boat and go out that way

Yeah, but the two Alkonost preps to use it as entry vehicle take much longer than the one Kosatka or Longfin prep.

So if I did that I'd also try a different entry approach instead of swimming through the drainage tunnel again but that's just me.

Yeah the alkonost preps take longer but as I said time did not really matter to me for that run.

Honestly I would not choose a diffrent entrance than the drainage pipe.

Going in from the land side there are way to many guards and cams for my taste. Both inside the compound and at the inner checkpoint.

That's ridiculous that that works. I love it so much. Definitely trying this next go.

The Alkonost does allow players to land literally anywhere on the map from the start. It is a viable tactic.

One can land at the airport and disable the Tower and Electricity while others position themselves near their Secondary Targets or drop your self directly on top of Disguises that spawn in the middle of the map.

So it is possible to steal gold solo: (not my video)

Like the author says it is not reliable though, and the difference to a bag of coke is not that big.

From the same person, it is also possible to do an "aggressive" run in elite:

I only ask in her since I assume they have been added by the Cayo Perico DLC but where are people getting these Tactical Vests with all the pouches? I know we can get Plate Carriers and Strike Vests but these ones are new.

I think you talk about the vests, which are part of outfits from the casino heist.

You have to unlock them by using these outfits during the heist.

All compound entrances are pretty much the same if you know the best paths. From the Northern wall entry you can run straight up to the office without even having to kill anyone. From the main door and Southern side door, you can kill the red guards very quickly by climbing onto the hedge next to the cages, which will give you the gate keys within seconds if you're lucky.

The drainage tunnel certainly can't be beat for convenience, but it can be beat in speed.

I once did a run where I used the Alkonost to airdrop into the Southeast corner of the map, landing next to a Manchez spawn. Then I drove to the fields in the East where there was a table of cocaine in the lone shed, and a grappling hook. The other loot I took was a painting from the office.

Gave it a try. Took shotgun loadout and shot against doors. Didnt open. I assume this must be a bug or something. I guess this happens when NPC's spawn, or somehow get inside those rooms and they are about to get out. You can push the doors from inside to outside, so I assume that is what happened here.

Damn.. it would've been nice to have this on a stealth approach. I dont like the stress of unlimited spawning NPCS 😛

The video uploader put this description in the video:

Quote

Aggressive = alerted the guards before or during entering the compound,
after entry from main door, follow some specific routes will have a chance to lure one of the guards into entering the Western storage room,
you might then able to shoot the locked door open if the guard inside is aiming towards or being really close to the doors.
Tl;dr try to have one of the guards open the locked door for ya

although can bypass the double keycard system by yourself this way, i still wouldn't really recommend trying this in regular runs since getting a guard into the storage rooms is not the most consistent things of all time,
the max differences value-wise between gold and coke is only like $50k,
plus reeeally not worth it doing the heist aggressively, being exposed to the risks of money getting shot off, and guards can be really scary shooting those minigun rounds from their rifles if not doing the disruption preps or cutting powders.

also this is for the West Storage only, not sure about the other 2 rooms + basement storage,
can find 2 stacks of Gold + 1 Painting each rooms at most.

Ok. So, if I enter at the airport, can I loot the hangar, grab a disguise and truck, THEN hit the compound? Or do you have to snag the primary target first?

What would be the best strategy for starting at the airport? Grab loot, grab disguise, take truck, enter compound... then what?

If the airfield has a disguise and a truck then you can go that way first, yeah, that's the whole point, it's your plan - but those pieces won't always be there.

You can either do the Velum prep and pay for your weapons to be stashed, or use the longfin with main dock entry and simply drive it to the airfield instead. Technically the HALO, stealth chopper and patrol boat would all work too, although the last one isn't a stealth entry.

After you enter the compound, head leftish, kill the 3 personal bodyguards on your way up to the safe, then go back down and enter the vault via the gates. Or hack the lift, either works. Then out the main door, relieve the guy in front of you of his bike, and jump into the ocean to swim away (wearing a rebreather).

edit - with guards clothes, nobody except red cones will see you, but don't hang around in front of them.

If the guard at the base of the antenna is missing, the signal box is on the ground floor.

I just take the boat to the airport, loot that and then back on the boat to get to the tunnel in to the compound.

Loot the hangar or other locations first before you proceed to the compound, unless you can evade undected.

Longfin protip - park it parallel to the shore, so when it floats backwards it won't be a speck on the horizon.

OK, so I think I can fairly reliably get the guard to spawn in the Western storage, which allows you to grab the loot in there solo. What I do is stand near the Brioso 300, while looking away from the door to the storage room, and kill a few guards. The guard should spawn in the storage pretty quickly, assuming aggressive of course. I also kill the guard above of the main gate where I enter, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. It might actually make more sense to wait for him to come down, because to kill him means looking away from the storage door. I guess I'll see when I do this run for real.

EDIT: Killing the guard above the main gate seems to help. I also look out towards the island/sea for like 2 seconds. Not sure if that makes any difference; could be placebo. The guard in the Western storage seems to spawn most reliable if I wait by / take cover behind the Brioso 300, let a few guards run up from the garden to the main gate, and kill them while basically looking 180° away from the Western storage door. The minigun guy was also fairly easy to kill when the Brioso is between him and me, as he tends to shoot into the car.

By the way, if do aggressive, make sure to blow up the Brioso. 😉

Seriously? Are you even thinking before asking?

Of course you need to get in the compound and take primary first, then get to airstrip and get dressed and then fly away.

I mean... come on...

Well, you can also grab the secondary loot first.

Primary and secondary does not refer to the order you have to get them, so maybe that's the confusion.

Ah yea that's actually true lol

So yes, secondary can be taken whenever you want.

As @Aquamaniacmentioned you should get secondary last if you are not so sure about making it stealth. Why? Because if you take secondary first and get shot - you lose it and the loot is gone. If taking last you lose less.

In your case, if you are alright in stealth, just start at airstrip, take loot there, ..., and exit via jumping the cliffs after exiting compound at end.

@Nog, I have made a Cayo career out of my ritual of basically driving my Longfin to the airfield, getting all my secondary loot there first, and only then entering the compound. I have lost track of how many solo heists I've done, but in exactly none of them did I ever enter the compound and grab the Primary loot first. Coincidentally enough, I literally just scoped the secondary loot at the Main dock, because I am toying with the idea of trying to get the Elite, and the only way I can see that happening is if I go to the compound first, don't get spotted, then work my way to my two Coke stashes a the Main Dock, then escape from there. The problem with going to the Airfield first, is by the time I get done with all that, then after going all the way north first, I then have to work my way down south, and blah, blah, blah. I usually end up at about 24 minutes, which is 9 minutes too long for the Elite. Not to mention I literally always take my time in the compound. I'm quite certain that if I go a little quicker in the compound, don't get spotted, and work my way to the main dock for the coke, that I can get the Elite. I may try it when I do this heist.

Do you want me to send you a video I made about my path inside the compound?

I think you lose the most time there. When i loot at airstrip first and take boat to drainage tunnel i need about 12 minutes in total.

I scope airstrip/main docks all the time just to get an idea which route I'll take.

Main dock after compound took me 8:30 last time.

Was that the longfin approach? From Main or North dock?

For comparison, my only time attempt at elite solo was just over 12 minutes with a motorcycle from the airport. I did the Velum approach, looted the hanger and shed by the power station, grabbed the grappling hook at the end of that road, and took a motorcycle to the compound. To leave I grappled back out, ran left, shot a boat driver, and boated away. I didn't go into the office for the wall safe, so that would've added around a minute.

I've done some of the the preps, but still haven't scoped the drainage tunnel yet. I plan to use the longfin and stealth. If I haven't scoped the drainage tunnel, would I still be able to use it if I go in with the longfin?

Also, what weapon load-out would be best for this?

You need to scope the drainage tunnel to be able to use it as an entrance. You need the cutting torch to get through there and you can only do that prep mission if you've scoped the tunnel. It's worth doing because the cutting torch also replaces the bolt cutters for getting into the secondary loot locations.

Any weapon load-out that you feel comfortable getting headshots with should work, as long as you pay the $5000 for silencers. I've been doing aggressive for shotgun and machine pistol. I think meta is conspirator for the new assault rifle and sticky bombs for blowing up the helicopter.

Thanks man! That's exactly what I was looking for. It explains why the cutting torch was unavailable too.
