Yesterday I tried to do the heist solo with the velum.

So I start the mission and you will see the cutscene when the plane lands on the airfield and the guard is checking on you. And to my surprise he says that he found a weapon on me and tricker the alarm on the whole island altough my character knocked him out after he found out who I was in that cutscene.

I was like, what the hell?! And I was about the do this mission all stealthy WITHOUT triggering the alarm.

So my first thought was, when you pick the velum to start the mission the alarm will always be triggered. But then I saw a youtube video where someone do this mission with the velum without trigger the guard & alarm at arrival on the airstrip.

And then I realised what the problem was. Before I landed, when the cutscene of the landing starts, a message showed up to put my mask on, so I did. I guess that was the reason my cover was blown right at the start.

So my tip here, DO NOT but the mask on when you are landing on the airstrip. Just ignore that message unless you want the alarm going off (but who want's that, right?)

...codes didnt drop, so grappling gear is also essential.

apologies, still learning heist specifics

you have to spend 10,000 to get a dude to stash your weapons for you at hanger. thats what you're missing. its in the setup screen. look for 'weapons stash' on the planning screen.

I think I am already suing that one. I mean where stuff like Weed and Money spawn. I know its random but the locations of potential spawns are set.

Read this on Reddit and I totally missed it myself. If you get the Merryweather HQ missions for weapons just nuke the Chopper with Guided Missiles and try again immediately.

The dollar signs stand for the (potential) locations of secondary targets -- not necessarily cash.

Can't find which thread it was, we were talking about guns that kill 2 with one shot, the perico pistol does this as well as the snipers

Interesting that the pistol can do this... tho probably useless.

Ahhhhh...My mistake. Thanks

@Jamwes

I owe you an apology, that is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

Huh, even better...if you go to the direct link you can zoom in pretty far and see all the individual parts. No need to squint at my phone.

when doing INTEL, ONLY go to the comm tower and use app on phone to find primary target.

then be 'seen' and have them deliver you back to the airstrip no problem.

guard clothes are easy to find and you dont have to photo them during INTEL, just look for them at airstrip (velum approach) when you start the heist.

(no need to look for bolt cutters or grappling equipment) do the torch cutter setup always.

the guards near the keycard doors drop the codes. easy to get in and back out.

go straight for personal guards and up into office, cut painting, open safe(hidden in wall) and open desk with key for gold gun.(if youve found it in LS)

use elevator to get to primary target.

when leaving, grab the jeep/bike near main entrance gate and just drive the roads (fast) back to the airstrip. no need to go offroad at all. no shooting.

fill your loot bag at airstrip before leaving, and fly away into the sunset.

(no need to take down air defences or cut power to cameras)

How many times have you done the heist with exact that approach?

I also did the velum attempt today. I thought I can run as a free "guard" on the airstrip. Not true.

Then you have to find a way into compbound so I tried to steal a boat at north docks. Well, after few tries I decided this is a bad plan. I then prepped the longfin and used it go to airstrip and drainage then.

You also have smugglers cloth and already a boat to travel to compbound.

There was 2x coke at airstrip that I really wanted 😄

yep. so far. ive heard sometimes the painting doesnt spawn. and if you cant find clothes at airstrip. (when i do intel, i take a pic of the buildings across from the hanger just to see if they are there easily.) i also have a map i got online of where stuff is located just in case none spawn at airstrip.

Well, you cannot count on that. In my heists there usually is no painting in the office. Its weird that it seems for you its standard.

Same with clothes. I dont find them at airstrip often.

What I want to point out is, your guide only works in that particular layout. If no clothes on airstrip and no painting in office this guide is obsolete straight away from the start.

There is not one guide for this, because layout changes everytime.

I also agree that scope 100% everytime is not necessary, but not because the stuff is always at same locations.

I actually scope main docks usually, because Id like to know whats there. Its my standard exit route. If I find only trash there I will check airstrip before returning to LS.

I am aiming for elite challenge so I want to make sure Ill find enough to fill my bags.

im aware of how many spawn locations there are, maybe im just getting lucky with the clothing/disguise. although i think they would give you them at the airstrip or next would be the north docks. if you dont find them there in the regular spots, that seems weird to me that theyd make you go any further than that to get em. the painting is whatever, you can just go for more loot at airstrip instead. I'm not picky about what is worth more.

just finished it again just now and just missed the 15:00 minute mark by 27 seconds!

also check my original post, i updated it a bit

and just my luck haha, this time for intel i had to go to the north docks to find guard clothes and there was no painting in the office. too funny. :)

Ah, so that's the reason why the alarm goes off. Good to know. Thanks for the tip. 👍

To be honest, I didn't pay that much attention at that setup point on the planning screen. I thought this support section is useless.

Just one hour ago I did the heist again (solo) to get the elite challenge. Everything worked out fine but when I finished it showed 15:01 ! 1 second to much ! seriously ? You got to be kidding me !!! 😡 Man, what a joke...but my usual luck...

if youre doing the prep for your weapon loadout and it says 'follow the valkyrie' ... dont bother actually following it.

took me a few tries to realize when pavel says 'dont lose it' - hes not serious. i leave the valkyrie in the dust, fly past the vinewood sign and wait to see which of the different spots it lands at.

I've scoped out the heist 5 times. Only one of those times I had clothes at the north dock and I've never had clothes at the airstrip. I've been entering with the south dropzone and getting clothes under one of the guard towers near there.

I discovered you can remove El Rubio's helicopter from ever taking part if you take the Conspirator loadout and put all your sticky bombs on it before you leave. Once he takes off detonate them and he just flies away and never becomes a problem. Just do not detonate them while you're there, wait till you are out of the compound booking it towards your selected exit point and the marker for his chopper appears on your radar.

It does not even put the island on alert since you're miles away when you detonate them so you can continue stealthing it towards your exit point. Its very useful.

Has anyone found the heist to be particularly buggy this lately?

I keep having instances where I get alerted inside the compound, even after killing them cleanly out of view of any other guards or cameras.

Also, I was trying to help with my friend's heist doing the Alknonost jump in. Several times it kept bugging out where the jet was flying way too low and at one point looked like it was going to crash into the tower until it suddenly veered upwards. Then I couldn't do anything with my character at all, my friends were able to jump out but mine wasn't responding to any button pressing, so I just had to wait for the game to kill me for going out of bounds from the island since I couldn't get out the jet. Then one time I didn't even see the jet there on my screen, just the sky. I was able to jump out but I was just left floating mid-air not able to do anything. My friends couldn't see my character where I was on the map and they couldn't progress since I couldn't get to the compound checkpoint.

OK, if you pick longfin with phantom wedge, lose cops via mission invite and then job teleport to the docks, wedge (as a PV) teleports longfin trailer attached to it as well. This  easily makes longfin fastest vehicle prep with some "tricks".

So the YouTubez says if you get the Tequila Bottle, cancel and start the heist again, so you get a better target. And I have a small problem with this tactic (aside the fact that I am bad with math), but if you cancel the heist on hard you lose the extra cash from that (which will be 10% of the price of the item). Meaning, if you get the Necklace after the cancellation, you've basically wasted another 20 minutes for absolutely nothing.

So here's a tip from me: don't do this if you are playing the heist on hard. Chances are you'll waste your time for literally nothing.

Agree with this. If you get the preps and finale down to a routine, you can do this and clear 1.4m in an hour and a half - I expect some will be able to regularly do it in under an hour. But let's say that's a rate of $1m an hour. If you restart, not only do you lose the hard bonus, you'll also have to do the scope out again, which will mean flying all the way across the main map to get to Cayo Perico, and you'll then have to reach the comms tower again to find your new target. That's blatantly going to take 10 minutes even if you're super slick - so simply not worth it for an extra 100-200k.

Don't sleep on the Kosatka as actual transportation. Its top speed is actually faster than it looks, comparable to a Dingy its just that it's acceleration takes a while and it seems to lose alot of speed if you try and turn it. In a straight line its pretty fast.

If anyone is doing Velum approach (for the Stats/awards) , Pro tip : Buy weapon stash from the hire crew support from the finale planning screen , or else the heist will be all aggressive , if you don't buy the weapon stash your approach will be all aggressive after the cutscene (where the guard checks and spot the weapons) and if you buy the weapon stash your weapons will be in the hangar and you can then do it on stealth

I'm building a big list of what does and doesn't alert the guards during the heist, before and after grabbing the primary, any requests? So far it's all the support crew stuff, uniforms, etc.

I kinda like the Velum approach. The prep is pretty easy (although most of them are to be fair) and paying 10K to keep it stealth is well worth it.

It's an approach of choice is guard outfits spawn in airport and/or I get 2x coke spawns in airport. Even better if I get the previous two and the truck's there as well. Then it's just, get coke, get outfit, get truck, drive compound.

EDIT: And since the Velum approach is identical to Scoping (well, cutscene, at least) I wonder why they never "bring it soon". No wonder we keep robbing this guy. He never brings us the goods we're supposed to smuggle!

Yeah funnily enough airstrikes and support choppers alert guards, weird that. But guards clothes work for as long as you're undetected which is nice.
