OVERVIEW
This is a high resolution (4096px) font set for the PSP version of "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories".

 

The fonts have been matched as closely as possible to their original style and adjusted to look great within the game.

 

DETAILS
• Includes variations for font anti-aliasing, drop shadow and button style.

 

• Includes interchangeable PSP and PS2 font variants. The fonts are identical except the buttons are white for the PSP, and colored for the PS2.

 

• This was tested with the PSP version of the game on the PPSSPP emulator. Although the PS2 version of the game uses virtually identical fonts, I'm unaware of any adequate method to currently test the fonts with the PS2 version.

Man, I had to log in to my account just to comment. In my opinion I have always found the VCS fonts a little bad and with low quality, for example in comparison to LCS. This looks awesome, really nice work. Do you have plans to do the same for GTA: LCS?

Hi, thanks for the reply! Yes! I spent several months completing the whole PS2 era set. The plan is to release the remaining trilogy one game per week for the rest of the month starting tonight with San Andreas.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did include a variant with a drop-shadow that might be preferred by some users.

If I remember correctly, the main reason I didn't do an outlined version is that it caused problems with cutoff / spacing. I would need to do a black inner stroke effect for it to work without resizing all of the letters.

Thanks for the font, but the shadow variant makes little to no difference, any chance you can make the shadows thicker so the subtitles are way easier to read on bright, white scenery?

I could test some variants, probably an inner shadow effect.

Sorry for the late reply, I just noticed your message. Which tool are you using to open the file?

 

They are in the GAME.DTZ just as Ash_735 said, but I think they are encrypted or packed within files inside.

 

The only way I found access to them was by using this program "Stories Texture Explorer 2.0"

Thanks for that. Im localizing vcs to sk. I have done all side misions, main (which is everything else than main misions and side misions) and main misions for Jerry, Phil, Marty, Louise. And in sk, we have latters like č š ď ť ž ä ô (idk if its appearing right) so i need font texture for that. But I couldnt find it in game. So i downloaded this mod (and i thank you lot for that) and finnaly i can make my sk font. So i just write some latters in first line of the game and game spit out some different latter i saw which to modify. Like č was ò i think. But I have never done any 2D graphics, so i just erased latters and added text with best font that gimp have, added outline by my own hand (becouse outlined version looks better) and thats it. But some latters werent even in game, like ť and some were thick like ď but game shown thin one like ì i think. So I had to find special latter in big and smal version, and when im translating it, I have to copy paste it becouse I choose y with two dots and e with 2 dots i mean 2 dots like this ä, and I cant write it on keyboard. But I found win 10 function called clipboard, and i can paste everything I copyed by win+v. And it looks not great not terrible. And its working. But i have been trying to get it on actual psp. But without font texture, i cant. Now theres only few latters right becouse vcs for some reason use š and ž. Theres photo of my fonts: https://imgur.com/gallery/Grk2bAG

Btw I just extracted it by some tool, which gave me files and folders of some like parts of map, pedestrian ai, some like 3d objects and in folder called lib it lookes like textures but idk if they are textures becouse I cant open them. Btw how did you do that mod. In ini you replaced that textures. And some number, its like hexadecimal or something?

Its so fcking hard man.

Its there, gametext in fonts.

But you cant replace it (it does nothing)

And even if you would replace that, once you save it its unusable in game.

Meaning it will crash after theme.

Even if you dont do any modifying and save fresh game,dtz it wont work.

But i have found something.

I extracted game.dtz to files and folders and theres file called game.dat which contains all 3 fonts.

But problem is that I cant modify it too.

Cant find tool for that, and even if i find some like dat wizard it wont load.

Only some optix image studio would do the trick if you export tm2 but that software remembers neandrtals man thats old sh*t and unfindable.

So idk actual psp console sk is only happening with sh*tty font.

But thank you for emulator fonts.

Btw why would you even play psp nowdays?

It have sh*tty screen and low performance locked 30 fps and idk what else.

On ppsspp its in good quality and with mods.

I have 60 fps cheat and right thumbstick cheat that one is perfect.

And also my own track made with at3 converter.
