It's how I started doing it: some guy called out on his mic and said 'here's a deer if you want it' because he and his friend already had all they could carry.

I thought 'huh! not everyone's a dick', so I looked for opportunities to spread that idea.

Sadly, because of rampant cheaters, it's not worth the hassle of enduring public sessions any more, and it's not getting any better, so like GTA, I play in solo sessions.

 

I checked to see how many hours I have in: social club says 1623, the launcher says 1740 but I suspect that includes load times, frozen screens, black screens, etc.

 

I have started watching another youtuber's videos and it's kinda fun watching someone who's still a low level getting the hang of the mechanics/quirks of the missions & things, brings back memories of those first few weeks when everything was still new, there were goals to chase, we knew there was nothing at the end of all the money/gold grind, but there was still a long way to go.

If they add something worthwhile to buy that doesn't get stale after a short time, then they can partially redeem themselves and it won't all seem like something of a waste.

I has been fun for the most part, I'd hate for that to end already.

Whenever I went on and bagged a perfect animal I'd ride around with it for a long time waiting to run across a low level to give it to. Once I had my hunting wagon maxed out on things it could carry, 5 perfect carcasses and 30 or so perfect pelts, and I ran across a lower level player's camp and he was in there so I started pulling stuff off the wagon, dropping it just outside his camp and let him take them to Cripps. Just the way I am.

 

I also remember the beginnings and it was enjoyable working my way up, especially in the posse. I miss my friends and I guess that played a part in me quitting.

 

I hadn't heard anyone speaking in game for ages. Does anyone still use their mic?

I haven't heard anyone on a mic since some time last year.

I actually bought a headset to use when it was released, used it maybe half a dozen times and gave up.

Plus windows keeps creating software issues and it became more of a hassle to keep it working than it's been worth.

Text chat would help I think, make people's intentions clear, keep things from being taken out of context, etc.

I screwed up. The time with the wagon I had him start a temp posse so I could join and donate the wagon stuff. It was another time me and my posse donated the animals we had on our horses to some person in their camp. That was long ago. Most people now don't stick around long enough for me to give them anything.

 

The thing about griefers or aggressive players when going after noobs is that noobs then think that's how they're supposed to play and they start up.

 

On the other hand, if most people are helpful and friendly maybe we can create a friendly atmosphere in the game.

Yeah, I've been very quiet on it haven't I. Only a few posts up I clearly stated that I like to go after sales. I guess you're not paying attention. Disrupting sales is a legitimate activity in the game. You can call it griefing but you're wrong.
