Neutralise
I recently got a new gaming PC solely to play GTAV on it (since I used to play on Xbox One), I downloaded and tried to transfer and to my dismay there was no option to, after doing some research I found out they removed this back in 2017? I... I don't understand why they would do this. This game is 7 years old now and I was hoping to have fun on it with friends but now I just don't know what do to. Does anyone else feel like they should bring this back? Does anybody have any real justification as to why they shouldn't? I'm interested to hear. Rotorhead359
Apparently Rockstar turned it off because people were moving modded characters/accounts over from Xbox360/PS3 (last gen) to PS4/Xbox One.(current gen) At least you can play the current gen version on next gen (PS5, Xbox Series S/X) with backwards compatibility. They initially disabled transfers to keep modded old gen characters off current gen consoles, which I understand. (modding was possible on old gen but not on current) But it makes no sense that you can't transfer current gen console characters to PC anymore, because PC has modded characters anyway. (including mine, made in late 2017) My guess is that Rockstar wants to keep current gen console players on their unmodded consoles, instead of moving to PC and modding. PC has all the mods, consoles only have money glitches and fish cards. PC players don't buy fish cards. Neutralise
Would it not be possible to allow one way transfers from Xbox One / PS4 to PC?

Those transfers were always one way. old gen -> current gen, console -> pc, not backwards I'm guessing that Rockstar doesn't want console players to move to PC anymore because of mods and fish cards. 100% of fish cards are sold on console. Neutralise
What even is a fish card? And is modding / fish cards an issue on current gen (Xbox One / PS4)? Because if not then transferring that way shouldn't be an issue right?

I won't use their actual name on here, but they are those microtransactions that let you buy in-game stuff with real life money. Of course, on PC you can just use mods instead, but on console you have to grind, glitch money, or, God forbid, use the fish cards.

JiaHengK
Yeah, unless you physically configure your Xbox One or PS4 to allow mods, mods can't be installed normally. However, people who do use mod menus on consoles definitely exist, albeit extremely rare, which is why Rockstar isn't going to bring back the feature to transfer your character from console to PC. Officially, there is no modding on current gen. Unofficially, there are rumours of mods being used on PS4. People were seen teleporting their tanks around the map (opening the pause menu before each teleport), appearing in front of business deliveries to ambush them. Apparently they set a marker on the map in the pause menu, then teleport to the marker somehow. That is either a mod, or an unknown glitch. But the real reason Rockstar disabled transfers to PC is the fact that those users would have to start over on PC, and some of them might buy fish cards on PC. No one would be buying fish cards on PC if they could just bring in their existing console character. Rockstar doesn't care about the user anymore, only about their profits.
