Lol, sod that. I'm watching both Blade Runner flicks and more to get right in the mood for CP2077

I saw the original Blade Runner in the theater, upon release, when I was fairly young (am 54 now); I actually liked it more that way, with Harrison Ford's voice

narrating. I remember how it was more subtle about the possibility of him being a replicant than the Director's Cut was, my brother and I both kind of picked

it up when he is at the piano with Sean Young and they both have kind of glowy red eyes for a second in the light.

It was not very well received at the time, which I thought was weird because it was so freaking cool! Then it kind of got cult status later on.

It seemed very ahead of its time, with the huge video billboards and stuff (a look kind of echoed in "The Fifth Element", years later.)

I thought the new one was actually pretty good too, need to see it again.

I'm a big fan of Ridley Scott's work since The Duellists in '77.

He pays very serious attention to detail, in the story/continuity, lighting, everything.

He's a real 'director's director'.

This sure brought back memories. I also saw it when it was released and you're right, no one seemed to "get it" at the time and I also prefer the narrated version that everyone seems to shout down whatever reason. It gives it even more of that "Noir" feel IMO. Now all these years later it's aged to perfection. One of my all time favs and my 2nd favorite Sci-Fi flick.

I went to Gus on Tuesday, and I have been insanely busy... nothing was on sale.  The newswire says 30% off everything in the store.

Spoiler

Although I certainly sympathize with players hoping for a competitor to open world character driven online games, Cyberpunk doesnt not have an online mode.  So talk of microtransactions or saying it is a replacement for RDO or GTAO is off base.  Maybe  a game will come along to compete but Cyber punk isnt that game.  I actually thought online was confirmed a year ago, but I have not been following closely.

Millions trying to download Cyberpunk 2077 day one patch right now on Steam. Practically a DDoS attack. CDPR's servers are behaving like Rockstar's. It's gonna take a while :/

someone mentioned 39 new missions(bounties)?! where exactly can I find those? bought that prestigue license thing last night. went to the bounty board to see what's new. the posters to the right, they're the new missions right? I did 3 bounties last night (all posters from the right) but none seemed special, no extra cutscenes or whatsoever. I think I started the 3-parter bounty...and accidentally killed the 1st bounty right away. can I start that bounty from scratch?

kind of confused, where is all that  "GREAT NEW CUTSCENE MISSIONS IN COOL LOCATIONS" action many talked about?!

On the bounty board under the legendary poster! On Ps it is pushing the D-pad up or down when highlighting the spot for $$$/legendary bounty

^ yeah that's what I meant, the posters to the right, where you get to choose from 2 or 3 bounties, including the "recent" lengedary one?! that's where ONLY entirely NEW bounties are listed? and the legendary bounty too, at least the recent one?! really not THAT familiar with the board. but those must be the new missions.

maybe later on it gets "better" and more immersive and there's more actual NEW bounties but so far it was simple bounty hunting just like before. before the udpate, the posters to the right were the hard ones. aren't they the same now?! to me it seemed like I knew that one woman with the bounty on her head. really, confused.

So just a note for everyone, Carmela "Tank Girl" Montez does not like when you throw toxic moonshine at her when she's on the big gun. I thought it was a neat way to get her out of the wagon, thinking she would be forced to exit in an attempt to try and save herself the misery of dying like that.

Was I wrong!

"CYBERPUNK 2077

Some nice characters and stories nested in an astounding open world, undercut by jarring bugs at every turn."

Pc Gamer review, so it also has those bugs on PC  ;)

The guy mentions having to reload a mission a couple of times, because the elevators were not working (for example.)

I knew I was wise to wait for reviews, plus I really hate first person. If RD/RD2/RDO/GTA/GTO were first person only, would have never played them.

Of course, they'll fix the bugs eventually; who knows, I might get it, but one thing they say is that it is pretty short? It sounds like it might last 50 hours of play,

which sounds short to me these days.  It is made by the witcher 3 people, though, so eventualy might get add-ons/whatever that make it worth it.

35 hours for the story alone. And believe me, this is a good thing. Witcher 3 was too long, so many people gave up and stopped playing.

Spoiler

Forgive the late reply (life and a bit of GTA news kept me busy, lol).

I too grew up loving the theatrical version though was too young to see it in the pictures as I'm nearing 40 and was just a newborn when it released.

But yeah, the movie was so troubled early on with how the critics and studio gave it a rough time through just not truly getting it. One of those that really benefited from the uprising in home entertainment with the movie able to find its audience on VHS (and disc since) luckily for me or it may have never found it's way on my list of favourites.

The narrated version is more natural to me as I've seen it many times over the years, but I do much prefer the last scene in the final cut though as it leaves things more ambiguous than the happy ending that we did initially have and understand Ridley for wanting his version to get out there. It's one of those films where I can really enjoy both versions for different aspects and makes for good movie chat too.

The sequel was really good too, but the first one just has that magic spark in its creativity (and music) with the effects and atmosphere, as with more modern movies, we're so much more used to seeing these fantastic looking films everywhere now where as back then, it was all still growing. The 80's was a wonderful time for special effects in both sci-fi (and horror for me too) though 2001 by Kubrick is a fine example of effects done so well a good few years earlier of course.

And I loved The Fifth Element when it came around too, that one I did see at the movies. Good fun times!

Spoiler so easier for those not interested in non-RDRO talk can skip on by. :)

You know what would be fantastic? Adding Mexico like the new island in GTA Online

Bah, I spared this one. I usually take in the legendary/infamous ones in cold but this one looked good and I decided 'f*ck it, my character hooks up with her. I'm done with this crap game and making a story for him until we get proper outlaw sh*t."

Maxed out bounty hunter again and finished the Outlaw pass(which is sh*t btw, just wanted the meat ability and extra ammo stuff for 'free' in case I come back) so I quit until Outlaw content is added

The Carmella bounty is rather easy. Just grab your sniper rifle and let the led fly.

I've been trying to see how far I can get just using the bow, or tomahawks, or repeater since I never used a repeater after I got the bolt action in my first week.

Tomahawks are more stealthy than the bow, go figure...

I've watched initial plays on PS and PC by the same person, they had some of the same bugs on both platforms oddly enough (dude in the elevator that has the keycard not spawning so he couldn't use the elevator).

Graphics are a ilttle buggier on PC at the moment, but not game breaking.

First person lock seems to be the biggest target of hate, but as the guy points out it has only ever been advertised as being first person only, so no surprise!

There is talk of mods eventually being abundant, apparently that should be an easy add from the community from what he was saying.

I don't know the engine or the community, but he's a reliable streamer and knows his stuff, so the modding scene should flourish.

A smart dev knows that only enhances their reputation and stock in the community and still sells games at the same time.

Sad that some devs aren't too bright...

Nah, opposite for me:

I LOVE when a game I like is "too long." Fallout 4 was too short for me, with all of the add ons even (if they kept

pumping out $20 add ons, after Nuka-World, I would have kept buying.)

I've got Witcher 3 game of the year/complete whatever version that was on sale on Xbox 1; saving for a

dead game period (got into RDO again with the added junk  ;)  )

120 hours is still short, when I've spent about 500 in "No Man's Sky" (only having

bought it after the Beyond and Exomech update, when all the reviews were finally saying it was good!)

Possible Blade Runner Original Movie spoilers below, if you were "in the underground bunker" for the last 35 years/whatever:

Yeah, plus it REALLY kind of nails the longtime argument  ;)

In that version he (Harrison Ford) dreams of a unicorn, so the paper unicorn "gaff?" (Edward James Olmos, in first thing I saw him in) leaves in the

door made more sense (possibly meaning he knows what he is...)

Meanwhile, in the original version I just assumed the paper unicorn was kind of the calling card of "Gaff"(or whatever the other guy's name was) saying "I was here but let you alone."

Then of course, as you said, the happy ending.

I finished it after 40 hours with bulk of the side quests and seen most of the endings. It's not even close to 175 hours unless you are a QA tester, which actually where that number comes from.

I almost focused entirely on the main story and the meaty side quests that flesh out the side characters and some other stuff. Almost entirely avoided ? stuff. Normal difficulty anyway. I assume harder difficulties could take more time. What difficulty are you playing on?

Edit : I've maxed out my street cred too. Also crafting is pointless imo, the game bombards you with loot. Maybe on harder difficulties they do matter, I don't know.

Threw it at her and he got out. But died, rather than passing out (I think) so a sniper rifle would be the best choice if it's not possible to take her out alive.

Yep, that's what she did with me. I was hiding behind the barn doors and when she jumped out of her wagon to get away from the toxic cloud.

I ran to hogtie her, expecting her to be shooting but she fell down right in front of me and I was like, Uh oh. 😆

You know I was just trying to be inventive, and she kind of prodded me after mocking the fire bottles and dynamite that I had already thrown at her. 😉

I just chugged a tonic, ran from cover to cover up to the war wagon, tanked a bit of machinegun fire, pulled her out, lassoed her when she ran off and returned her to strawberry.
