Is it just ME or does anyone else HEAR orbital cannons?

sometimes in lobbys i hear random orbital cannon sounds but no activity on ticker

 

i figure its some sort of audio glitch but ill be damned if it hasnt had me paranoid before 

 

was selling in a lobby few days ago and i pulled over and hid as someone got orbital'd

 

i waited to see if it was a one off or the repeated orbital glitch, seeing it was just one i kept moving.

 

winced twenty times over the next five minutes as i just kept hearing orbital cannon sfx but nobody was dying

I logged out of online and went back into single player and heard it the other day. Must be aliens.

PC? I hear explosions all the time on PC. It’s from menu users trying to blow players up. They chase me all the time. They eventually succeed and once I respawn they start spamming cages trying to lock me in place. If they can’t catch anyone they normally resort to blowing up the entire lobby.  Had two of those cocksuckers in the same session last night.

I agree with @dieseltech20 that for PC its likely just dumb cheaters trying to kill you, but their cheat is so bad that the explosion is actually a bit below your vehicle, meaning its also below the map & unable to hit you (this happens a LOT) or its simply behind you (they lag to much for their cheats to be effective lol, the below the map thing seems more common though)

Other then that, it could just be failed orbitals, the radius of that thing is surprisingly small.

 

One last idea: i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if R* is trying to fix the repeat glitch, but as per usual they are trying to fix it in the wrong place (instead of prevent the actual repeats like they should, prevent repeats of doing damage? would fit with earlier 'fixes')

As a console player I’d always imagined it was the game being buggy and loading npc cars in the sky. They fall and the sound is the explosion from them hitting the ground..... please don’t try and correct me. I’m unwilling to believe it’s anything else.

I hear random explosions all the time that sound like the orbital (I play on console). I feel like it’s probably just an audio glitch or like the above post suggests with random cars spawning and exploding.

Some kind of sound bug. Last lobby I was in constantly gave me the elevator doors opening sound, despite being outside nowhere near any building.

I hear "random" explosions quite often ingame - and they seem particularly prevalent when on indoor map - because you'll hear every single explosion from the world map as if it's just around the block from where you are.  The same if you're "in the clouds" loading into the session - you'll hear all the explosions taking place in the lobby at that time.

There is a bug where you can hear the turret move on a friends moc, and it will make the shooting sound as if someone was shooting it.

No. Heard it too on weekend. 

 

Said to a friend after hearing the sound: oh, someone got obliterated. 

 

But there was no notification on the screen

I sometimes hear explosion sounds without me doing it...in story mode, it´s so f*cking scary, I loaded into story mode with Michael and then a "BOOOOOOM" sound happened near Michael´s house...it was so f*cking scary

I believe in story mode there's random plane crashes coded into the game - I've heard the explosions myself in Michael's house - and stepped outside to find a blazing luxor burning itself to bits on top of Michaels car.

Sometimes I hear explosions loading from story mode into online, even when going into invite-only sessions. This has been going on since the game came out so it's not the orbital canon.

i should have stated i am on console

i have personally seen peds and cars fall from the sky as well as random large explosions

im siding on audio glitch because the orbital has a VERY specific sound

as far as the indoor aspect goes i find it useful since the sfx are amplified and you can usually tell what is creating the sound

 

what i do find odd is how i hear other players chatting to each other when your in the clouds and yet in the lobby its silent

What you'll love is that if they're in party chat and you're watching them via your apartment or office TV set, you'll hear everything they're saying to each other - at least on xbox.
