itsallup
I have been working as a roadside assistance driver now for quite some time and I wonder if anybody ever had to call roadservice for their car and what was their experience. I get calls 24hrs and it is indeed a very lucrative job especially if you work for yourself and are willing to work around the clock. I will use this topic to post a few experiences I have here and there and will start to take photos. Have you ever had to call your insurance for assistance? Ever got stuck and needed a tow? Share your experiences.
Flachbau
Only needed to call them once. I was on my way to work on the highway and I ran over a f*cking tail pipe in the middle lane which totally destroyed my tire’s sidewall. Didn’t have time to avoid it as the car in front of me had a delayed reaction. Usually no big deal to change a flat but the scissor jack that was provided with my SUV was so small and I didn’t feel safe using it on such a big vehicle. Thanks for doing what you do, I know it can be a risky job especially on roads where people speed and don’t have any consideration. itsallup

Yeah most of the times these jacks dont even lift the cars high enough and they are truly unsafe. I have two jacks that I carry in my car. 3 ton daytona heavy duty lifts even RVs and motorhomes and a pittsburgh 1,5 ton which I dont even like to use much because it is crap. To remove the lug nuts I use an Earthquake XT 20v with an icon 1/2 inch speed collar: so it doesnt take me more than five minutes to remove the wheel and put on the spare. And thank you for the consideration, it is a tough job but it is very rewarding and people almost always recognize it.
