WHY IS GTA 4 SO POORLY OPTIMIZED ?????, IS THERE A REASON FOR THIS ??????? BECAUSE I REALLY GET PISSED WHEN I STUTTER A LOT IN SOME PLACES LIKE ITS SO ANNOYING. I HAVE A 4GB RAM I3 AND UHD 620 GRAPHICS CARD AND THAT SHOULD ENOUGH TO RUN THE GAME IN MEDIUM TO LOW SETTINGS BUT IT STILL LAGS SO IS THERE ANY FIX FOR THIS NONSENSE ??????

IT WOULD BE BETTER IF THERE IS A GOOD LOOKING GRAPHICS MOD WHICH FIXS THE LAG TOO 😅

By the way i lag a lot while driving when i am near little jacobs location after mission crime and punishment 

not only that, i lag almost everytime while driving

The map itself is unoptimized/technical mess, which as a result overloads the CPU.with far too many drawcalls causing subpar performance. There's a guy working on reworking the map (BisonSales @ Project RevIVe) and it's gonna take a while to complete.

If youre complaining about it on pc... then you arent gonna be happy with the PS3 version, XboX 360 is the only platform that the game was optimized on

Yes I am fed up of the PC version of GTA 4. I haven't tried the ps3 version of the game cause i dont have one. i will look into spitfire's link now and see whats it

@B Dawg yes i think that is the problem, i also think that it is because the engine might have filled with bugs and thus impacted the game

or maybe it is because the game's code has some issue with it

Yeah, but it's with enhanced textures, timecyc, effects, etc., right?

lol i think i am becoming way too noob

and also make sure to follow this content so that rockstar gets pissed and starts working on this issue lol but yah dont forget to do it

Also, not perfect. I remember GTA V ran better than GTA IV on my old X360.

bc [This post has been flagged and will be monitored] magic, can't really do sh*t about that except downgrading, back in the days the 1.0.4.0 version was the best performing one, but now the 1.0.8.0 doesn't have windows live so i dont really know if there is any pros in performance from downgrading right now

You are trying to run the game on Intel UHD and complaining? Get a decent GPU, most of the stuttering problems are solved by using an alternative renderer. Try DXVK link above (UHD supports Vulkan) or something from here https://ant-sh.blogspot.com/2020/07/gta-4-stutter-choppiness-fix.html

Actually the map isn't the reason because if you do a 1:1 conversion to GTA V it renders smoothly. It goes much deeper than that, after some reverse engineering people noticed the render pipeline was written too synchronously and it bogs down the game when too much starts happening. GTA V has things happen asynchronously to the render, GTA IV doesn't.

 

It ran like sh*t on the PS3, it ran like sh*t on the XBOX 360, and it runs like sh*t on the PC. I wish people would stop saying it's a bad port, it's just badly made from the start. A proper technical remake is needed.

 

But it's perfectly excusable because it gets the job done. New top of the line engine and the game had to be made in just a few years. This was 2008, tech wasn't that advanced nor were the people that experienced. After all GTA IV was meant to debut on the same engine as GTA San Andreas as hinted by some left overs.

What left overs exactly? The dodo and androm handling lines? Or the fact Previon car is listed in the GXT entries? Those only prove that rockstar may have planned to have airplanes and the previon but scrapped them. Just like they scrapped the rhino from TLAD if the vehicle offset .csv is anything to go by.

Man that sh*t really sucks 

My cousin wanted to try a GTA game so I told him play 4 you'll like it it's different and fun probably the best so you don't have to be familiar with the series to enjoy it 

After buying it the guy couldn't stand five minutes playing it and uninstalled it after doing one mission 

The greatest thing about  GTA 4 is that it equals between poor and rich

It sucks on both's PCs

Rockstar in 2008 "I guess you are not ready for this yet... but your kids are going to love it".

 

It was so incredibly slow back on 2008 hardware.

 

Fan fact: I am yet to see a video without lags of a cutscene, where Niko leaves the block of flats where the Latin American lady lives (Elizabeta, I think), and I think he walks with Paki or Jacob down the path, and the camera pans down on them. This was such a badly optimised cutscene, I thought it was my computer until I saw the other people's recordings.

umm,

but i think for a 2008 game, this hardware should be enough right ?

because i mentioned i dont lag at all places......

by the way i have founded a mod called reality which might fix the lag, so i will check it out :happy:

Well it should be enough theoretically, but UHD 620 overall performs worse than 9800gt practically

You do not want 9800gt as it does not support DX11 and hence can not run modern games. I used 9800gt as an example to show you that even older generation GPU performs better than iGPU.

 

What about DXVK? Does it work at all with your Intel UHD?

but isnt dxvk for linux ? and i havent tried it cause i never heard of this one

It works on Windows, check the stutter fix guide link I posted above.

I cannot test it on Intel UHD as I don't have it, it may work with latest Intel drivers https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/intel-hd-graphics-driver-download-4590.html
