Which character is better? Arthur or John?

Definately Arthur for me. As good as John is, Arthur just hits the right spots all the time for me from his banter and witty comments to his near absolute loyalty to a dying gang ran by a man who became a bigger and bigger threat to everyone including each other. John is a great character and im more than grateful that they didn't butcher his character but when compared to Arthur he feels too wooden, too serious and too stale. A great character but he lacks the personality and substance that made Arthur so enjoyable to play as and watch.

 

Jack remains at the bottom of the pile though. Be he baby or adult, I didn't care about or like his character. He was just "there" for me.

Maybe the whole fake persona played tricks on John, but I feel his social skills worsened in 1907. He really seems weird in front of people.

 

Then again, him being bad at deceiving people, could explain his strong dislike for Nigel West Dickens' antics.

I think it was because of the awkwardness of going by a fake name/identity (which he wasn't skilled at lol), and always having to be careful/paranoid around people in case they realised who he really was or even just that he had a criminal past. He had to keep up the act and also not get too close to people so it would be hard to be natural and friendly.

Overall, Arthur. But no video game death shattered me as much as John's in RDR1. I had absolutely no idea it was coming.
