Sirfritzalot
I just started watching the Narcos series on Netflix, and immediately from the intro video to episode 1 I am noticing many GTA References that have been evident in recent updates and also rumors for the rumored GTA 6. I believe that this heist is the beginning bridge to the next GTA Online 2.0 and also the next story mode. There is also some evidence that this heist might include some form of playing a role in law enforcement and we will be assisting in bringing down this drug lord. Firstly, Cato Perico is a play off of Pablo Escobar’s residence named Hacienda Nápoles. This is not necessarily an island for anyone to just freely visit, it is a part of Columbia that Escobar resided, so it is evidence that there is more to this expansion than it is leading on. Keep in mind that there was a talk of a “Project America’s” which falls in line of North America and South America and the country in parallel to the common North American setting will be Columbia. The proximity of Columbia to California is way off and it leads me to believe that there will only be one international location, whether that might be a small sect of Columbia or just residence of Pablo Escobar known as Cayo Perico in the GTA universe. Also within the first few episodes you can see GTA themed vehicles such as the Weeny Issi Classic which people have referred to as the vehicles used in the movie The Italian Job, however, in episode one you can see that this is the car that Pablo Escobar and his car are driving when they do their first pick up. If you observe the cars that are being driven by the police you can see these are the same SUVs that the police are driving. There are many parallels between Narcos and future plans with the GTA Series and the upcoming heist, a lot of clue are found in pop culture references and are later found in updates, if we take a step back from the game itself and focus on the inspirations where these vehicles and props come from we see the direction that Rockstar is going in and how “leaks” correlate with upcoming projects and DLCs. Right now there’s plenty of evidence that the upcoming game is loosely based on Narcos which also provides some insight as to when production might’ve started on GTA VI considering the Narcos series ran from 2015-2017 with 3 seasons and the newer version of GTA released on November 18, 2014 on Xbox One and PS4, meaning the influences of that show weren’t around at that time, which leads us to believe production might’ve started at around 2016-2017 time. Cayo Perico's entrance sign is, in fact, like the Hacienda Nápoles one although it's not exactly the thing they based off to do the island. The island is Cayo Norman, a Bahamas island that Carlos Lehder (Escobar's employee) bought to get the coke to Miami. Perico is a way of saying Coke in spanish also. It's being talked about in another thread the possibility of a DEA mock agency or any government agency, that we could work for. It's an update based around Narcos, as the bikers update was based around Sons of Anarchy. Pop culture is what makes GTA Online what it is, basically mocking it or using it. An it's Colombia, Columbia is a university in New York. ArthurFleck
