To be frank I enjoyed getting up to 0.5 bar per daily... I guess that's after 21 days? Been awhile since I kept my streak going for a few months now (second time around, as I missed one day by forgetting LOL)... Part of enjoying RDR-online was doing my dailies.

It's simple, gave me some incentive to do something in this game. I have almost everything I want. My guns are as I want them to be. So to me, the dailies were just a means to have some form of accomplishment.

Take that away from me and I resort to doing ONE daily (maybe two, since sometimes it doesn't get logged). And that's it... When it gets back to 0.5, I'll grind out a few dailies, but that's it...

I'll play less. So I'm grateful for making this alot easier for me (not playing the game)...And yes, they did this for a) reducing gold bar earning for all b) making sure the new influx of 4.99 RDR-online players have absolutely zero chance to make some decent amount of gold right from the start, forcing them to fork out real cash to buy gold...

Shame on you, Rockstar... (once again)..  Resorting to Epic tactics (Fortnite and fortnite save to world (in the latter you could earn Vbucks, which also got nerfed BIGTIME) to screw your loyal playerbase over... It's all about the money... Do something about the modmenu assholes that are still widely spread... Just earlier I got blown up (by myself apparently) again... So yeah, another asshole blowing everyone up under my name (probably due to me being above level 200), wanting the other players to report me... And it doesn't get fixed... Been over a year now and it still ongoing... Not even talking about modmenus in GTA-online which are consistent for a few years now.BUT whenever a dupe method gets out/moneyglitch gets out, they're lightingfast to 'fix it'... Very clear where their priorities lay... Shame on you...

I don't envy those new $5 players at all.
Day 1: you complete all intro Story Missions, walk away with around 7 gold.

Do all dailies if you're lucky, 2 more gold.

Then what? Can't do Bounty Hunter Missions, don't have the role yet.
Grind Stranger Missions till your thumbs fall off, payout = 1 gold / hour
Play Showdowns, payout = ? / hour

Trader: 15 gold
BH: 15 gold
Collector: 15 gold
Moonshiner: 15 gold
Naturalist: 25 gold

Customize a single gun: lots of gold
Buy a single hat: 6 gold
Buy one pair of socks: 2 gold
Buy one nice coat: 8-12 gold

All the while you're also trying to figure out how stuff works because you never played SP. The game doesn't explain stuff to you, so good luck with that.
Every now and then you're getting wrecked in free roam because you don't know how stuff works, you don't have any cards, pamphlets or tonics.

Damn... how long do those players last in the game? I'm really curious

EDIT: posted this in the wrong thread, sorry about that

New players that don't research will immediately buy Bounty Hunter because it sounds the most fun, who wouldn't want to be a badass Bounty Hunter in an Old West game? They will then realise that its a slog that pays nothing and they wasted their Gold on it. After doing some research they will realise that Trader pays out far more just "for a little bit of Hunting" until they realise Cripps eats materials like mad and you need to continuously babysit the Role and it gets tedious.

They will then buy Collector after more research and make money but seeing as R* gimped that months ago its difficult to find complete sets which is where the money is.

As it is, in my opinion, the only two profitable Roles are Moonshiner and Collector. Or should I say "Berry Peach Cobbler Maker" and "Refer to the online map". Trader only becomes less tedious when you can farm Harriet for Legendary Animal pelts to feed  Cripps but that takes a fortune of Gold to buy Trader and Naturalist.

^ R* already f*cked with my "daily income" when they removed 2 out of 3 condor egg events!  when they gimped the collector I thought OKAY I will go get that gold then....now R* retaliates by cutting the streaks! "true" R*ockstars, full of themselves, no love for the fans!

btw remember when 99 % of the players witnessed a daily challenge reset, like a year ago or so?! clearly, given the circumstances now, that reset NOT a mistake. I mean sure, R* would be able to write fail-code and break already "established" game mechanics...but this felt...intentional. even back then I thought it was a streak reset on purpose

They are basically "resetting" the game. Attempting to get rid of all the old players so that all the new Standalone players will never know any different.

As I said, we never left Beta.

As it stands, Idk if I will continue playing. Already losing interest just knowing that R* doesn't give a flying f*** what players want. Heists? Stagecoach robberies? Actual properties? Simple real team vs team PvP? F*** everything we've asked for. I have been in RDO since a month into BETA, my current streak is 436 days. Would have been more except for the reset that was mentioned. Might be time to go back to Halo 5, f***, even Jedi Fallen Order feels better than being an RDO vet.

my mind slowly changes from

"be patient, RDO will get all the good content in the future, it will be great"

to

"what future? its been out for years now, the updates are getting worse and worse since the first roles, almost nobody of your friends is playing it anymore...."

I see your point, if that's what they think I'm really curious how the next 3-12 months will play out.

Is it possible to grow a game like this by having a revolving door policy, and leaving the hard core player base by the wayside? I have no clue

I'm also curious to see how free roam etiquette will be in the next 6 months.
Typically, when there's an update, the next 2-4 weeks I get shot at randomly more in free roam.
If we constantly have a rotation of new players come in, the free roam antics might not stop.

Don't get me wrong: I hardly ever get shot at. And I know how to deal with it. It just happens more after updates.

Tomorrow will  be my last day in RDR-online. I'm fed up with this greedy company. GTAMEN really worded my own personal opinion exactly... Doing my dailies were my sense of accomplishment in RDR-online... I have everything I want, I just love doing my dailies and get some goldbars... But nop, a new influx of goldbar craving noobies are around the block, so we nerf, nerf, nerf, put a big finger up towards the loyal players and let the money flow in... Well, not my money anymore... I planned on buying my daughter a 5 dollar RDR-online only game... But guess what... That ain't happening anymore... One last round of gameplay tomorrow for me when I'll attempt to get as close to 300 goldbars as I can (currently 288)... And then I wave my girl Zornia in there goodbye.. She was good to me, but enough is enough already...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPTw_J7DnOI

I'm preordering Cyberpunk 2077 tomorrow... I'm gonna take my business elsewhere... Create a new character there and go from there... It's time... I'll remain here for my GTA-character, but my RDR online days are over. We should all do the same... Stick a big middlefinger back to their face... Sad moneygreedy bast...

A year from now, most of the people who scheduled their lives so that they were able to log in to complete a RDO daily every day for hundreds of days in a row, will realise that this change is actually a good thing.

Lack of updates is the main reason I’m losing interest in this game. I couldn’t give a f*ck about this daily challenge update.

Hopefully RDO gets something big in the next sping. Like two new roles and properties, etc.

Interesting to see what does the BH update give tho. I hope it’s a lot more than just new legendaries and few items/outfits.

Looking forward to snow again in RDO and the Christmas decorations.

This doesn't really move me much after few days of ingesting the news. Course, people with 1,000-4,000 gold or more are set

for quite while without doing damn thing to add to the pile, unless they introduce triple-digit gold prices. I got couple hundred or

less, and im doing just fine for now. Ill see tuesday whatever this Bounty Hunter II: Electric Boogaloo ends up being. Just got the

funny feeling most of my december goes running around in Cayo Perico instead...

Trust me when I tell you there is a silver lining here, if you quit daily activity because of this update you just did yourself a massive favor. Daily streaks are an insidious gameplay feature that is more harmful to your mental health then you realize.

I agree.

I had several grind-fest games DEMAND I play and grind EVERY DAY!

Or else... I'll miss out on a cosmetic or a limited time sale. Haven't spent a dime in those games in months now, so GG big corpo.

I stopped my streak months ago and let me tell you, it's bliss. It's like suddenly finding an extra 30 minutes every day, it's very freeing.

I'd have regretted it if the game was being well supported but now with this change and especially no char transfers and despite the update this coming week, which I would have genuinely liked to play, I am quite content with the idea that I will never play RDO ever again as I no longer own a PlayStation which my character is tied to.

I gave RDO most of the time I did in the hope of it being great more so than it actually being great.

I had a routine, get up if not already up, wait for the reset so that rdodailies.com automatically updates, if there is an issue then I can do it manually, post an image in the List of Daily Challenges thread then spend 30-45 minutes completing the challenges then log off for reset of the day.

I could still do it even though at the end of each month I will get less gold for three weeks, but the incentive to do so won’t be the same, as only bothered due to the 0.5 payout of hold per challenge. I guess getting a treasure map is something to look forward to if I didn’t already have them all.

It would be nice if they had a different set of treasure maps with bigger payouts instead of the current ones for maintaining a 28 day streak, at least that way it be something to look forward to each 28 days as you’d be getting something better than the standard treasure maps and also something to work towards each month!

althought i am not precisely the most positive in regard to rockstar work,  i think this is overdoing it Lol. My take is they are trying to monetize this the  best and the fastest they can with little effort... they are acting like a small company there being honest, but in no way they are playing 4d chess here... sure they know a part of us veteran players will go, but they also know this is the best western right now in the market, so at worst for them around 70% of us will go (i would say much less than that, maybe 40%) and that certainly wouldnt let them start clean lmfao or bypass their misdeeds... they just want money the easy way without investing beforehand.

EDIT: i wanted to quote ryunova and screw it up LMFAO

I think their plan will fail, getting people to buy gold with real money.

I would guess the BULK of $4.99 people would be pals of people already playing online; they saw

it as a waste in the past, to buy the entire game just to play online with their buddy.

So those people will have already been told by the "veterans", that there is no reason to "buy" gold

since it ramps up so fast (even with a now 28 day reset.)

Anyone who REALLY wanted to play online only, in the past, could have already bought RDR2

the MANY times it was really generously on sale (at least on Xbox One, which was A LOT.)

I want to say it went as low as $14.99? Or at least $26.99 now and $34.99 now for ultimate

(which I paid $99 for, back in the day, special horses!  ;)  )

Agreed, but I think even that will die down. Then the lobbies will be more empty then they are now,

regular users miffed and new ones bored (unless there is really great content dropping, which I

seriously doubt.)

Nov 30, travel on a mount with posse member 5280 - Much Rage Quitting!   ;)

ACK, AND Biggest fish contest.

I don't think it has been on sale much for the PC version so those that only want to play Red Dead Online and those who have consoles and a PC and didn't want to pay full price just to experience Online on PC can now do so, if they're still interested of course heh.

The same goes for those that have friends that still play Red Dead Online but are on a different platform can now just buy the standalone version for that different platform.

For those reasons as well would be another reason Rockstar are limiting the Daily Challenges streaks to 28 days only, as Rockstar don't want players who are buying the game again on a different platform to just grind Dailies to purchase the Roles and would like them to buy the gold instead of earning it first.

And further to this, if they ever come out with an slightly more Enhanced Version for next gen (well current gen now), then they only have to offer the Standalone Version once again and get those really interested to purchase it all over again, so to me it looks like they are trying to get as much money as they can for Red Dead Online on current gen before this time next year and dropping an Enhanced Version to get even more, Rockstar have become greedy ever since they learned how much they can earn by just re-releasing the same game over and over.

So every now and then Rockstar release an update which gives us a couple of days enjoyment and a couple of week work to do....

... Then it stops for absolutely f***ing ages... What are we to do? Well the only thing to do in these lulls are daily challenges (for me).

I can appreciate that to the players that cannot dedicate to keeping a streak going, even these daily's aren't a compelling reason to play daily.

Those that can get on every day have had this one reason (are you listening Rockstar? ONE F***ING REASON!) to play each day.

It's not fun. There are days I might not normally get on, but losing the streak was not an option. It's a chore for sure but without it I'll be lost.

The max multiplier was the sweetener to the deal. I don't mind a chore for half a gold bar but when the spoils are only 0.2 gold, I don't see much incentive.

Sure I could look at it like a price drop (keep doing daily's at an average of 0.35 gold each). But I can't see it that way. 0.2 gold will flash up on my screen and I'll sigh and feel no compulsion to play on.

You've sucked the life out of this game's only lifeline Rockstar. For shame.

I´m just going to do role dailies until I hit 0.5 gold!

It's kind of bizarre that R* decided to drop both updates within weeks of one another as the Cayo Perico GTA one [at least on paper] seems a hell of a lot more interesting, and while there will be people that bounce between the games at the same time, I'd guess many more will stick to the one with better execution, which almost certainly will be GTA.  Having this update for RDRO a month or so ago would have probably pulled a much bigger audience, but what do I know...

All good points.

I see mostly players between 30s & 40s to 200-300s on PC.

Single digit levels are not as common yet.

I don't know about other sources, but I've seen the game on sale on Steam 4 times I think, as low as $34.99 Cdn.

GTAV only went on Steam sale in 2017, which is when I bought it.

I paid full preorder price for the launcher version of RDO for that extra 50 gold  (yes, I meant that, I did not buy it for single player, that part was a free addon to RDO 😁).

========================

My first automatic reset won't happen until Dec. 8 because of the mess that happened when I updated windows & got buggered by the authenticator app crap and lost my streak 2 1/2 weeks ago.

I'm only getting 0.4 this week, on day 16 today.

Same, I paid full pre order price with the 50 extra gold so I could get stuck into the Roles quite quickly on PC as well as being only for Online not single player either so that's why this $5 Standalone Online version stings a little bit haha.

Point taken with the steam sales, I just take less notice I guess on PC sales, but forever see it on sale on console at least so I'm wrong there on it being discounted by a lot on PC as the only times I saw it on sale on PC it was only like 10/15% off.
