Possible Solution to Oppressor MK2 Complaints?

Just split servers into  two types: 1: plain, old, grounded GTA with everything being 'realistic' and 2: with silly bollocks flying cars/bikes and death lasers, and all the other sh*t that Rockstar added in. E.g. Fallout 3/NV's Wild Wasteland trait.

This.

I would love to see a GTA 4 style free roam option but it would never happen.

IE: Online classic: You pick one unarmored/unweaponized vehicle from your car collection online and hop into a lobby. Guns and certain armored vehicles will spawn in their usual spots, you have to pick up guns, health packs etc. Sticky bombs can't be thrown and if you destroy a PV no insurance is charged, your bank is frozen in these sessions etc.

That won't happen sadly. Step 2 after removing Opressors however should be nerfing the ability to throw sticky bombs from cars. Being able to launch a C4 charge 20 feet down the road at 100+ mph is silly and means that car chases are dead as soon as the lead in the chase heads down a long stretch.

Nah, sticky bombs were fine. That takes far more skill and precision and timing than using the noobstick. I have fond memories of ripping around in supercars in the first couple years of the game, and people trying to sticky bomb each other; almost no one could do it consistently, which was part of the fun.

If Mk IIs could only use regular weapons and chuck sticky bombs from high up, I'd like them a lot better. Honestly that would be pretty funny, people trying to kill you like that.

Nah sticky bombs ruined the possibility for car chases in game. GTA IV you had to try and time grenades if people chased you and you only had so many.

If the mk2 only let you use owned weapons with no weapons on the bike it would be better. I'd rather get killed by  sticky bombs being dropped the way people could drop them while flying with birds. :)

The grenade dropping in GTA IV was damn fun and felt hella good once you've "mastered" it

Lel? I got plenty of players coming at me. I kill them. This is the first thing Gtaoline thought me.

I went online in 2013.

Just went out of the Ammunition.

A rank 4 player shotgunnin me to death.

Then spawn killing me one more time.

If anything I learned shot on sight

Well I guess we aren't alike because I don't mind giving someone the first kill. Turning a gun on every player you see is no bueno 👎

Maybe you are afraid of losing in a video game? But this is GTA... So idk what school you are from. 😆

Try to bring a little variety to the game please. :)

Amen! Hell even in TBoGT there were sticky bombs, but you have to be right up next to the target to land them.

Made for so many fun car chase moments, I remember bailing out of my car if I thought a pursuer was too close and often times the thing would blow up shortly thereafter lol.

Don't agree with that at all. In the early days of the game I engaged in hundreds of car chases, both as the chaser and chasee. It is not terribly easy to put a sticky bomb in the right spot on the road and detonate it at the exact right moment to blow up a pursuing car--the thing is not a landmine. Took me a long time to learn to do it, and in my experience most players were never able to learn. I've had thousands of stickies flung at me, but far far less than that actually blew me up.

Anyway this is way off topic, we were discussing the Mk II and this has nothing to do with that.

I saw some pretty good ideas in this thread about how to properly nerf the Mk. II without making it totally useless. It's one thing if it was a story mode-only vehicle, but to this day I think it was one of the worst things they added to this game. I think taking away the countermeasures, and then the missiles or the ability to fly would make it more balanced.

That thing and the fact that people can shoot you through walls with the MKII Sniper rifle are the reasons why I don't play in public sessions anymore. It broke the game for me..

What they should at least do is add level requirements to these destructive vehicles. The oppressor should be a level 100 requirement. That way you don’t see level 30 players flying around and learning to grief. I’m sick of this vehicle being in the game. Now all this stuff is on sale on gtao and it’s chaos getting killed by lvl 50 noobs with scramjets being trigger happy...

MK2s are not that hard to deal with. Keep your map expanded. When you see one approach, stop the car and get out - before they're in lock-on range of course. Shoot em off the Oppressor, blow it up and keep moving. Chances are they're not gonna fight you back and if they do, use your gun skills! I'm a skilled player or try-hard or whatever noobs and scarycats are calling skilled players these days. No one messes with me in Freemode! No one! If you know how to fight, people won't mess with in this game! People pick on players they know they're better than. It's just that simple. Put in work and get skilled at the game and stop complaining!

Oh, shut up, man. Why is it that people like you will never understand that the majority of players don't want the game to be a non-stop, unavoidable war? I hope the next time you're busy blowing yourself up to avoid dying during a 1v1 at the beach, your dog walks in the room and takes a dump on your console.

Can't count how many times I've tried engaging in a fun car chase with guns only, only to see the other player's fat arm stick out of the car window with a sticky in the hand ready to be thrown at me. What happened to using guns?

It's just sad.

It's absolutely ridiculous how far you can chuck a sticky bomb in this game. If you're driving over 60 mph, you can throw a stick bomb over a distance of at least 50+ feet from your car.

Just look at this:

Too bad a lot of these vehicles don't have ranks. But they threw away levels mattering for stuff years ago, to be able to let any new player buy the expensive vehicles with with real money...

The kuruma and insurgent were there first 2 real " military grade" vehicles added, and both were op. Driver could casually shoot you out of kuruma, and only real thing you could do was to blow them up, which punished you with bad sport and money. Than you had insurgent, which was fast and kept up with most vehicles, could tank a bunch of sticky bombs, and you could throw sticky bombs as the driver...

You do realise that constantly having to watch out for these flying pieces of turd is part of the problem?

Yes, you can fight them. But that requires tools that not everybody has.

Edit: Funny how you mention "skill" in regards to a videogame where killing people does not take any skill and regarding a vehicle that a brain dead toddler could grief the entire lobby with.

What I proposed on another thread is introducing a rapid fire flare gun to the game. Since the Gunrunning update flares from the flare gun could mess with the targeting of missiles. However the current flare gun can only fire one at a time before needing to be reloaded. Vehicles like the oppressor can fire missiles at a rate faster than one can pop off flares. Meaning you could only avoid every other missile.

The new rapid flare gun I propose is not so much a weapon but more a tool to shut down missile spam, making the Opressor useless against anyone who wields it, giving a truly viable counter.

Lobby choices would be better. Should be able to choose if you want weaponized vehicles or not.

Nice in theory, but doesn't work on free-aimed missiles against players on foot. Those missiles don't track anything and won't follow flares. You might be able to get an Oppressor mk2 to blow himself up during a car chase though.

Changing some values for the broomstick would be very simple, same for all vehicles. In fact, it's so simple many PC scripts do it as third-party apps that can change values in real time (like drifting mods) so it isn't a hard thing to do. Reducing its lock-on range or health wouldn't even take an hour to do

Yes I'm well aware of that, I'm asking what information specifically needs to be changed?

You said it's one script line from being fixed, so I'm asking - what script line are you referring to here? Unless you're referring to the missile lock on range specifically?

If anyone else can share some light on this in particular that'd be appreciated.

Cheers.
