I really don't get the problem people have with the animation and the realism of this game

I play RDR2 since 2018, for me, this game is perfect in everything it does, never had any problem with animation or it's realism. I don't want to look like a boomer, but the impression I have is that this current generation of "gamers" is used to multiplayer games and these FPS battle royale, which are successful today, and when they play a game like RDR2 they get tired in the first 10 minutes of the game. It is strange because games like this have always existed, but only now they have decided to complain.

I love what Rockstar did to this game and I'm excited to see more again in their next game.

Its hands down the best game I ever played, its slow paced, but its exactly what makes it so good, you can sink a lot of time into it, and live like an outlaw from the late 1800's. For me, its not just a game, its an experience, plus, the story alone is worth going through at least once, and the Open-World is really fun to explore and to interact with. The people who have a problem with it are just people that are not used to this type of games, so i dont really mind them.

I think there’s too many people that see “Rockstar” and expect this fast paced, over-the-top, arcadey game. They buy this game and they’re expecting Cranked 2 or something, but they’re really getting “The Assassination of Jesse James.”

The slow paced story with focus on character arcs, and slow gameplay isn’t for everyone. But the game accomplishes what it sets out to do, and that’s all that matters to me.

I bought Valhalla to fill the gap between now and CP2077 and mind you I’ve never played an AC game but I know they aren’t known for being technical milestones. Aside from the cut scenes looking decent graphically I’m genuinely unimpressed by the vast majority of the game. It’s really shiny and pretty but the way the now two year old RDR2 sh*ts all over it absolutely blows my mind and the fact that they’re both in the same realm of “AAA” games is insane.

I’m a big fan of realism not just in the look but in the way it operates. RDR2 nails that hand down with the endless amount of animations for every action

If they made it so you open a drawer and grab everything swiftly and automatically, along with tapping a button instead of having to hold a button to loot etc. It wouldn't be as scrutinised IMO

I agree.

I've got used to R*'s heavy and grounded animations that prioritize immersion and realism.

I'm with you OP, i love the game, or should i say addicted too this game. I got Valhalla for my birthday (i'm starting think my wife is jealous of RDR II), don't get me wrong i love running around with an axe in an enemy fort shouting valhalla, while dismembering enemy soldiers, but i have had too get my wife to hide RDR II. I actually think about it most day's and how i'm missing riding around on my horse, and coming across random folk. For me RDR II is a master piece, can Rock Star ever do better ? i look forward to seeing that, if Odin spares me long enough for Rock Star schedule.

Don't try online then, they sped up/cut animations and made running about easier and dumber for the casuals, lol. Bloody awful compared to the deliberate pace of this cracking story mode.

I wondered why it feels a little different and you nailed it

I did try it when they first released online, and it just reinforced my believe that me and high pitched individuals don't get on. Though i wish they'd release a co-op mode, just think how many more people they could catch with their online shenanigans.

After the last 2 years of online there, including yesterday's horror show, I'm really starting to worry about this company to be fair.

But I'd love a more co-op, it's one of the main things about these online games I enjoy.

I know what you mean, Rock Star have gone all politically correct (plus the online pedo gambling), i miss the Herbert Moon type character's from the first game :(.

It's a joke right? This game literally featured a public white supremacist, the KKK and Micah Bell.

I believe I am from what you are referring to as the "current generation of gamers" I play shooters and fast-paced games, but I think RDR2 is one of the best games ever made, the level of realism is mindblowing and the amount of animations plays a role in that, I never even played the first game and up until June 2018 I wasn't THAT interested, but after seeing that gameplay trailer, I got hooked, it is so good.

My only problem is the clunky and sometimes irresponsive controls, have that go with an already slow-paced game can be annoying.

I always laugh at the faster animations when I play RDO (which is very rare) they spent time and money recording those animations only to have them sped up for Online and looking really weird lol

Man don't get me started on RDO, I can go on a ranting spree again.

It's the people who are used to play fast-paced games. They don't have the patience RDR2 requires.
