Question About Super Rare Special Cargo

Hey all, okay I have a weird problem that may be just the way the game is. Does GTAO limit the number of Super Rare Cargo you can put in a warehouse at any one, given time? Because I have been stuck on 6 pieces in my small warehouse for like three months now. Mind you, I have 4 Large warehouses, which I have filled and sold 3 times in 3 months, during double money. Additionally, I have just finished filling my 4 Large warehouses, total of 444 crates, awaiting another special, which I assume will come sometime in December. So that is a total of about 2,000 crates I collected in roughly 3 months.

My question is, why am I stuck on a mere 6 Super Rare crates in my small warehouse? I have been stuck there for almost the entire three months since I started doing crates for the Special Cargo, when I realized how lucrative if can be if you sell during Double Money Week. I can't even remember the last time my Office Assistant called me to alert me to a Super Rare cargo item, it's literally been that long. So I guess my second question then would be, is it possible the game sets the number at 6 as the upper limit? Because I am pretty sure that I have done at least 1,000 sources since my last Assistant call, and also selling exactly 888 crates during the last special week, without so much as a peep out of my Assistant about super rare.

As far as I know there are only 6 rare cargo items. And if I remember correctly your supposed to get one of each at max. So since you already have 1 of each that might explain why you wont get any more.

Yeah, I was afraid this was true. Kind of a dumb system if you ask me. It's no longer really worth it to me to bother collecting Super Rare items, with a 5 warehouse limit. I think I am going to go with the advice of @xInfected_Virus when we were playing together, and your advice, and just sell the stupid small warehouse contents. Then I will buy a 5th Large warehouse, and ditch the small one, so moving forward, I can just fill the 5 large warehouses with regular cargo, and sell all 5 at once for $4.44 Million x 5 when they go on special again. I should really put this in the Whinge & Bitch Thread, because if what you and Infected are saying is true, then this is one of the dumbest things in this game. I will wait for more people to chime in before I take this step, though, in case you're wrong. Which I don't think you are, because why else would I NOT have gotten a single call for Super Rare items in months, right? **eyeroll**

There's no financial benefit to owning more than 2 warehouses. Unless you stockpile for when they go on double money sales. Why rockstar gave us the option to buy 5, I dont know. Perhaps it was just part of the whole learn your way to making money by trial and error. Of course I have 5, but for completion sake only. Remember that you can't downsize later on if you go for 5 large.

I swapped locations a lot on my journey for the gold trophy, and looking back it was probably that varity that made it mentally possible to hit 1000.

I concluded that it was all about location, if I had it all to do again I'd buy what I saw as the best locationed large, medium and small warehouse. The ones that ensure as little time spent as possible to make the runs back and forth. Yes, smaller stocks sell for less, but it makes it more interesting. I'd use the small just for special items.

What you could do, is find out which special item sells for most, there is a list somewhere, steal it again and put it on its own separate from all other special items, then only sell that one again and again and you should always receive it back when you get each next special item.

I completely disagree. I have only been playing GTAO for just under 6 months now, and I discovered how incredibly lucrative these special warehouses are, because of how money is accrued as you increase the size of stock held. Although you kind of made my argument for me in your second sentence. I took advantage of special cargo for the very first time in September, and made a very easy $20 million in that first week. Then, in the 5 weeks between that double money special and the next one in October, I filled all 4 warehouses at my leisure when I was doing nothing but dicking around. This last special week in October, I made my $17.76million for all four warehouses, not once, but twice. Although, I will admit that getting those 4 warehouses filled to 111 crate capacity each in 7 days to bang them out two times was incredibly grindy lol.

I guess the new plan will be to ignore the super rare items, and just start getting into the habit of filling FIVE large warehouses at my leisure, between double money weeks.

As to your last suggestion, that was my plan. lol Until now, anyway. I now have four large and one small warehouse. The large ones are all filled to capacity, waiting for the next double money week, and the small one is annoyingly STUCK with 6 super rare items. So my plan is this: Next time the warehouses go on special, I will sell the contents of all four large warehouses, and the contents of the small one. Then I will dump that idiotic, useless small warehouse, and buy a 5th large one at what will likely be a corresponding sale price of 30+% off, and moving forward, will slowly, leisurely fill 5 large warehouses until I have 555 crates in total (111 each) in anticipation of the next double money week.

What are you on about here? You can always downsize your warehouse if you want something else. You can go from a large warehouse to a small, even if you have all 5 spots. The only thing you might have to do is have the warehouse empty before you switch it.

I guess you might get more than 1 one of each if you win one on the casino wheel.

It'll probably crash your game or some sh*t though.

Could you show us how to do it? And when did you do it? I found multiple sources on Reddit saying you can't.

You must know something that I don't, because last time I tried downsizing, it didn't allow me, and all 5 were empty. (somewhere last year)

The game told me, I could only trade small for large, but not large for small.

I just wanted to recoup some money by retiring from the crates, I guess that is the problematic part for Rockstar.

I can have a look at this tonight on one of my accounts if you like as I always thought it was possible to downsize if the warehouse was empty.

Unless it's answered before then I'll come back to this in about 2-3 hours!

I didn't know you could win a warehouse. I assume that's all you can win? Do you have the option to decline it, as you do with the car? It would really anoy me if I won another blip on the map when I didn't want one.

You've never been able to downsize, only trade for equal or larger.

Well things seem to have worked out for the best, at least within the idiotic framework of how Rockstar chose to legislate the 6-crate limitation on Super Rare items. I ended up waking up this morning and seeing that warehouses were on sale starting today, Thursday, for 30% off, and since I wasn't going anywhere with the 6 crate limit, I decided screw it, and sold the 6 crates for just north of $750K, and I purchased the large warehouse in south Cypress Flats, to make 5 large warehouses, using the $750ish and the $800K trade in price to partially fund the deal. So since my original 4 are all filled to capacity, with 111 crates each, its a pretty easy, low-maintenance endeavor to fill #5 to 111 crates, and wait until the 2X cash for Special Cargo comes around on the guitar again. In fact, ironically, while I was selling the contents of both my Nightclub and Bunker, not 5 minutes ago, I got the call from my assistant that I have a super rare item available, which I declined to even bother with. I won't waste any more of my time on super rare, so this ends up being even more lucrative. LMAO Happy ending for a sh*tty line-in-the-sand story, I suppose.

Eh? You can't waste time on special items, they sell for so much more.

Yes, but the problem comes with trying to sell them when you mix super rare with regular special cargo in the same warehouse. I had considered this, I would then have to reserve 6 spaces in one of my 5 large warehouses, in this case the new one that's the only one not filled yet. In a few days, this will become a moot point anyway, since I am well on my way to filling the only one of 5 large warehouses that still have space. That's why it seems like a waste. Because a full 111 crate warehouse sells for $4.44 Million during the 2X special cargo week, but moderately less if I only keep 105 regular items and try leaving the other 6 empty in the hopes of getting the full 6 super rare crates. Also, can you even sell the 6 SR crates all at once if they are mixed with 105 regular crates?

I think @StormerBoy gave you a good solution: it's basically the same trick we all use to source only Top Tier cars on Import/Export.

If we can only have one item of every special cargo, then sell only the most profitable one. You grind a lot, so every 48 minutes the game throws a dice to see if you get another special cargo item, an it will be the same you just sold (the most profitable).

Then you sell it again and again and again until it's double cash week, and then you sell all 6 items. That way you're always making the highest profit from special items the chances allow.

If you want a fifth large warehouse, then always leave a six crate space for special items, since we can only have six of them at any time. But keep that warehouse below raid level: you don't want to see that they only raided special items, lol!

And yes, you can sell regular and special crates separatedly.

@El Cavilldo, I think I may have misunderstood his advice then. The Top Tier car trick was a great one I first learned from my partner in crime, @xInfected_Virus in his guide. Although I haven't sold a vehicle in months. I no longer have to, because once I sort of self-discovered doing back to back casino heists, only S&S and Big Con, and only Gold and Artwork, my grind loops have been almost completely eliminated. Well, not true, as you already know, since I do grind up the Special Cargo warehouses, and only ever sell when they get buffed. It's an insane amount of money to make at once, and the grind to fill up all 4 of my warehouses (well, as of this morning, I have 5 now) is very easy and doesn't feel grundiy since I do it over the course of more than a month.

As to the advice from you and @StormerBoy, I will try it, but if I am understanding you, I may have to wait until I have more than one empty warehouse. 4 of my large warehouses are full with 111 crates, and the one I just purchased this morning has 33 crates already. Can you please explain and clarify what you are talking about though in terms of the trick, because I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean and how its done. So far, since buying this warehouse, in 11 source missions, or 33 crates, I only received one super rare item, which I passed on, not knowing there was some sort of a trick to this.

Edit: I just want to clarify what I said above regarding back to back casino heists. I am NOT talking about some kind of a glitch. Basically, you need two people who both want to make a lot of money quickly and who are both reliable. Each person does their own heist prep separately, alone. Then we come together almost every day and do both our heists back to back, and more often than not we get the Elite, for an extra $100K each, per heist. Between that, and AFK/Solo for my nightclub and Bunker, plus adding in the double money for special cargo every month or two, its easy to make a fortune really fast in this game, without those grind-loops with Terrobyte missions, VIP Missions, Source/Sell Vehicles, etc., etc.

Sounds incredible.. I wonder how much time you spend to fill all those warehouses. Doesn't it get tiring? Because you literally grind the hell out of this game 😄

Dont you ever get raided? I would fear getting raided every now and then, large warehouse feels like a sleeping giant.

I must admit something feels wrong here but I cannot find what it is.

Lets do the math..

Double $ Warehouse  = 4,4m

- Paying for the crates = 600k

Payout = 3,8m/Warehouse

3,8m*5  = 17,4m = Payout for 5 Warehouses

How much time do you need to fill up five large warehouses?

Lets say 6 hours/two warehouses...

Sell two warehouses = 7,6m / 6 hours = 1,26m/hour

How do you fill them up? Two at the same time?

Comparing casino heist (after the gold glitch been fixed)

You can do two casino heists in 2 hours

Minimum income = 1m/heist

Payout = 1m/hour

Edit: Lol, I just now read your last post about the heisting. So that makes me happy. What is incredible is that this game offers a variety of options to make money, no? Ive been grinding the casino heist for a few months now, and got something 100m. Now I just got bit bored of it.. so I decided to do some vehicle cargo plus special cargo to wait for double $ on that. Also I must say that last time I did the grinding I did not have Terrorbyte, Oppressor.. because... well I was grinding to get money to buy those... Now with oppressor/Terrorbyte it feels like next level grinding lol

Special Items and regular cargo are segregated. You can sell all 6 together, but it's a separate sale from the rest of the cargo. There is no additional value in selling multiple Special Items together, unlike the per-crate increase of regular cargo.

If you're filling warehouses and waiting for 2x$ then why not store the Special Items in one warehouse and make them the first thing you sell when the bonus hits? You'll only have to do two more collections to replace the 6 crates. Ignoring a Special Item call is pure idiocy.

How much time do you need to fill up five large warehouses?

Not much time wasted, really, because I'm not doing it all at once. I do it over the course of over a month, so I am basically filling in drips and drabs. Yes, the total time to fill 4 (and now 5) warehouses is probably a lot, but it doesn't feel like it. Because I am only doing the sourcing here and there, when I'm not doing anything else, or bored. I will say that the once or twice I forced myself to fill my warehouses when I had emptied them in the beginning of the week, and wanted to get them filled up before the 2X Money expired, lol now that was a grind! But not counting the manic insanity of filling 4-5 warehouses within the 7 day period to cash in not once, but twice, LMAO (I agree with you there!) the Special Cargo doesn't feel as grindy, since I am doing the source missions at my leisure. As for raids, so far they haven't been a problem. At least right now, the special cargo warehouses don't seem to work like the Night Club, Bunker or MC businesses with raids. If a warehouse gets raided, I just force close my game fast and open it up again, and that's that. With the nightclub, when I try that, I literally keep getting raided every single time I become a CEO, so I have to deal with the raids. With the MC businesses (when I was doing them a couple of months back), if I tried that trick, I lost all my stock and had to restart the business. My bunkers never get raided because I only ever do ONE resupply + sell mission for $210K each.

For the casino heists, its really not that long at all, and clearly it is the fastest and easiest, not to mention the most consistent way I have found to make money in this game. Much better than all the grind loops. It really is pretty short, though, because even without help, I can get my preps all done in a little over 45 minutes, and @xInfected_Virus is a much more experienced player than me, so he can go even quicker on his own. Then when we get together for two full heists for max money + usually getting the Elite, it shakes out to about 45 + 15 + 15 = 1:15 minutes for what usually amounts to around $2+ Million to each of us, conservatively, since often we get $2.5 Million each. Even if I add another 15 minutes to the time, since sometimes the preps take longer, its still quite lucrative.

To be honest, I am VERY grateful to all of those grind-loops like in Infected's guide. They really helped me to systematically build a criminal empire and lots-o-money very fast, since I have only been playing GTAO for just coming up on 6 months the first week in December. But I don't do them anymore. Really no need.

@whywontyoulisten I will try that, thanks!

Oh, I'm sorry if my response sounds confusing: I mean that we can apply the same principle we all use to get only luxury cars on our Import/Export warehouses:

1. Unless some OG player knows better, let's assume that we can only have 6 rare items maximum on the same warehouse, no matter the number or size of warehouses we have.
2. Let's assume we can't have two crates of the same rare item.
3. I've read on this forums that every new session or in-game day (48 min. real time), the game rolls the chance we can have a rare item and it helps if we're doing crates nonstop.
4. Can we have 6 rare items on each warehouse? I don't know, but keeping space for them on all warehouses would be useless from a grinding perspective: we lose the sale bonus of a full warehouse. So it makes sense that you keep that 6 rare items on the same place so you can fill and sell nonstop the rest of your warehouses; and I assume you're saving those 6 rare items for a double money sale.

So, if you want to keep making money from rare items (as far as the in-game probability permit), maybe you could sell the most profitable (the vintage clock): that will periodically trigger the chance you could have another item, and it will always be the same you had sold (since we can't have duplicated items). At the moment you get that vintage clock back you could sell it again to trigger the chances to repeat the process.

Hope this clarifies my past response.

I have a question, how do u get special rate item ? I mean, i have been collecting normal cargo daily and its more than a month since i got a call for rare item. Some bug maybe ?

Sometimes you don't get the call, but it will always be on the computer if available. If it triggered and you missed it, it will keep coming again until you start it, so you never really miss it.

Someone may correct me, but I think it triggers after about 100 steal missions. I used to miss many of them because I was starting vip in-between and then steals again none stop, didn't give it chance. Of course you must be registered to trigger it too.

You don't have to be registered to get a call. Or you can even be in a mc. Or you can even be in another player's organisation. Can even get a call in invite only session, where it's impossible to source it.
