I gave you the reason lol. RDO is not their focus anymore and I've yet to see anything (from R*) to convince me otherwise. One or two updates a year to milk it out, but no where near the level of support we got in year which featured multiple big updates that ended with Frontier Pursuits.

 

Even if you combine the Naturalist role and this BH expansion, that years worth of content still pales in comparison to what we got in year one of RDO, hell, it's significantly smaller than the Frontier Pursuits update alone. GTAO's standalone is getting a next-gen treatment and PS5 deals, RDO is getting thrown out at $5. Says a lot right there really.

 

Rockstar holding stuff back for next-gen would be like Rockstar holding back the new island for GTAO until next-gen, which is expected to be an instanced zone due to last-gen performance issues, there's really no evidence to support the idea. Plus, as I've said before with this conversation, the launch of the Xbox Series and PS5 doesn't signal the end of (now) last gen support. Cross gen support will exist for 1-2 years yet, they aren't sitting on or waiting on next-gen updates to really start supporting the game. That'd be like say, an F1 team waiting until the last race of the season to try and win the championship, finally throwing all the developer support at the game long after the community has bolted due to no support.

All the demand they see is on GTA where thousands of people play (and pay) everyday.

Why would they lock their new content to a few million consoles instead of the tens of millions its out on now? I get what you are saying but it's a bad example. I think we both agree on what has happened to RDO and it's updates but you think it's a possibility that they're holding stuff back for next-gen, while I think they're just moving resources away from the game onto other projects. Time will tell I suppose but yea, it's quite clear that RDO's support has dropped off a cliff in terms of quality and scale.

I was hoping the article would have something saying that you can remove the online components from the SP game, but nothing. Sounds like if you buy the base game, you get both. But if you’re only interested in RDRO, you can just buy the standalone version.

To be quite honest, I would have purchased online only if that had been an option.

I know how good single player is, I just don't like story games with only one ending.

I get bored with it knowing the ending is set regardless of what I do, and almost never finish these games.

 

Online is open world, make your own way with your own goals, that's my thing, and usually I don't play online games.

I have no need to play with others whenever possible, I just like to choose how I play rather than letting the devs decide for me..

No, I believe you'll need to buy and download it online (it's ~108 GB, so takes about 9 hours with a 30 Mb/s download rate) -or- buy another disc copy to use it on another PS4.

The main problem with the low price on RDO as I see it is that the game is still broken even with 12-14 players per session.

Few if any LA spawns, extremely rare random  events, and now there will be loads more of little charlie cheat menu and his arrested development friends.

Also, I found the newswire to be a waste of time. 1 screenshot and very little information is not really good enough.

Yeah its completely telling where their money and hence their care is, one got teases and actual trailers a MONTH before it arrival with a whole lot of novelties, and the other one sh*tty screenshot that left everything to our imagination... then you see the quality, diversity and quantity of the content , and it just seems they were investing the whole office hour in one and just the lunch period while eating in another.

I suppose I will reserve judgment but if all this update amounts to is some new criminals to bounty hunt, along with the usual clothing items, it will be a colossal disappointment.  The Bounty Hunter role is by far my least favourite role, and even though I'm rank 20 I don't think I did more than two or three of the legendary bounties.  Maybe I should give it another look.

 

I am somewhat intrigued by the 10 extra ranks.  I'm hoping that these are performance based ranks, rather than experience.  In other words, it should be based on difficult to achieve actions like the challenges in the Story mode, rather than just grinding out and gaining experience points.

So what are they saying about new mane and tail cosmetics for the horse? What a crimped style? Small close braids for the hunter/sport horse styles. Maybe an intricate up braided mane and bobbed braided tail similar to the style worn by the Budweiser team? 

I kind of wanted new stalls to add more horses to be honest, more coat colors to choose from for the breeds available?

Make us actually hunt these bounties down, not just go to the location that is given to us and boom there they are (and then they are not). For example I want to wander into a saloon and find my bounty playing cards with the option of being able to try to take them in quietly or raise hell in the bar and take them in with force.

I want different scenarios, it's not that much to ask is it?

Fellow horse lover !!! hehehe.. the mention to mane and tail styles additions came from the leak whose reliability isnt certain still, ar least not at 100%. but if they were true,  i would love that they added the hogged and button styles which i think they wont, because they belong to a fancy oriented update in my opinion... i wish they did though, both- specially the hogged, look dazzling in horses with beautiful and unique face shapes like the kladruber, akhal teke and arabian, because it highlights even more the gracefulness of their necks.

 

About the content i wholeheartedly agree with you, this content should be releasead every two months... specially considering they seem  like retreads  and literal extensions, not actual deepenings to the roles which was  what we needed.
