If a direct competitor to GTA would appear, what would you want to see in it?

I've actually postulated this and came up with the perfect game concept for me. It is a mix between SR2, AC: Origins, and GTA2. Takes place in an modernized version of the ancient Egyptian afterlife. You'd play as 3 characters, two being Anubis and Osiris, the other a human character of your creation. You'd be able to parkour, it'd have an destructible environment alas Just Cause 3, you'd be able to dynamically change the world through a respect and honour system, and it'd have an RPG based leveling and skilling system with quests. You'd be tasked with infiltrating and destroying four gangs/cliques that are undermining the Egyptian gods. I call the idea "iNubis".

I'd love to get the idea off the ground, but I need people with skill to help in its creation. I'm open to working with others to get the project off the ground.

In a competitor to the GTA's I'd like the possibility to combine the weapons like in the first Hitman to get the best of both.

For example in Hitman when you combine a beretta with a sawedshotgun your shots are more powerful, more precise and you can shoot 15 times in a row before having to reload.

 

This feature combined with beheading shots and ragdolls would be very enjoyable, especially if you can make an enemy fly 100 meters away like in Hitman.

Basically gta4/cyberpunk/fallout but in a modern realistic setting. Why dont they make rpgs in modern times? A want a ghetto gang story like a mix between gta 4 and SA (minus the 3rd part of that game). I want to be able to build relationships with factions and damage them if id like all to get ahead and make the game easier for myself

Basically a mixture of San Andreas/APB/Saints Row (the first two) all in a Canadian Ghetto themed map, with elements of shows such as The Sopranos/The Wire/Breaking Bad in their own forms

A mix of all gta and Saints row 2. Story whise something lethal weapon true crime la sorta but you aren't the cop. 

Maybe even a little bit mgs styled story from the structure.

And a multiplayer mode like gta online, but without unrealistic, or better "op" stuff. Even back then the jet and tank was to much. Like if you shoot at somebody, the risk is higher to get killed yourself. Not like a op weapon you have. And you don't see other players random on the map. Only if you do a mission. You still can rampage and kill other player, but you can't see them random on the map. So you also can hide your ass and so on. And communication almost like on rp server, with close by or smartphone conversations. I even had a pretty thought out version of gta online 2.0. Wouldn't like everybody, but i also have dlcs in mind and also stuff for tryhards and so on. Also there is a mode where you have a legacy map, but only as separate mode.

Something like LA Noire, but in modern setting. Probably mixed with True Crime LA/NY as well, but i'm not sure.

 

There aren't much GTA-like games where you can play as "good guy", so it would be cool to see how it will be going...

I kinda want a relatively grounded game that combines the style of Mafia 2/3, the action/crime movie feel of Saints Row 2 and GTA IV and the serious/wacky dichotomy of Yakuza (though not as over the top) with some pretty f*cked up Takashi Miike-style humor.

 

Probably something like a John Wick, Ichi The Killer or Crank style video game where you get to both do and pull off some crazy sh*t as well as do street-level work with funny and serious moments and dialogue.

 

Also a setting other than the usual LA, Miami or New York would be nice.

actual f*cking crime in a GTA would be nice, rather than becoming wet workers for one of the three letter agencies for the third time in a row (not including GTA Online).  Niko working for the IAA I could stomach; the long con was set up early on and it paid off but I want to be a criminal again.  if we play as a mobster, Italian or otherwise, give me rackets to maintain like VCS's Empire Building system, give me a source of legit income and side missions to smash up intrepid judge's cars, or take out competitor's vehicles or even hostile takeovers of another gang's racket!  if we're gangbangers give me an open air drug market to navigate, rip and runs on rival's product, stash houses to defend, corners to take over.  there is so much that can be done with a game but lately it has felt like Rockstar have dropped the satire of America and resorted to outright saying "AmErIcA bAd" which has gotten old.  I'm British so I love winding up a Yank as much as the next tea drinking Pommy does but it's grown old for me.

I would like to see a game about biker gangs, I think there aren't too many games covering that topic and it would be interesting to see the rise of a biker gang from a small time to a serious player in their setting. Would be interesting to see how it compares with The Lost and Damned, and if this hypothetical game was about the rise of a biker gang it would contrast nicely with TLaD which was about the implosion of one.

I totally agree. It's a shame that the series ended because future titles could have been worthy alternatives to the GTA franchise. The focus on melee combat and the setting gave it unique flavor which resulted in the game not being a 1:1 copy of GTA.

Multi era game spanning multiple states.

 

- Starts in 1970s NY before it was cleaned up.

- MC starts young. Maybe 16-20 and is struggling to survive. Grew up in a bad neighborhood.

- Throughout the game you get older. Chapters are a set age. Chapter 1 is youngest, Chapter 6 is 60 or so.

- You start the game doing typical GTA Stuff. Do this and that. Wipe this guy, destroy this thing etc. Then throughout the game you get older and more experienced/hardcore criminal and at some point you go to jail. After you get out you can choose to continue down that path or decide to try and change into a more honest clean person. Either way you need to tie up loose ends. Don't really know what kind of loose ends but something interesting would be cool.

- You customize your character, their gender, voice and looks. Something like Saints Row 2 would be cool.

- Gameplay is taking inspiration from The Last of Us 2's brutality and smoothness or MGS5. Preferably a very deep and satisfying amount of options and smooth movements.

- San Andreas like mechanics like gaining weight or muscle is in the game.

- Driving is inspired by Driver or GTA4. Easy to play, hard to master.

- Big amount of variety in terms of vehicles and weapons.

- Big amount of mini games ranging from gambling, arcade, dancing, fishing and stuff like pool or darts.

- Missions are very open and like GTA3 era series in how much freedom they give you.

- Wild life is in the game and are used in many different ways. Perhaps cops could send dogs after you?

- A lot of crime based activities like property managments, heists, drug dealing and other stuff.

Regardless of the theme or gameplay, it must have a better multiplayer that's actually balanced and functioned well.

I know this would sound kinda ridiculous, but it would be pretty nice if there was a GTA-like game taking place in a world populated by anthropomorphic animals instead of humans, kind of like T.U.F.F. Puppy or Zootopia, but with adult themes and humor inspired by Rocko's Modern Life and Fritz the Cat.

Something like Chicken Police but open-world action then.
