GTA VI Crafting, Store & Food

Recommended Posts

rjmthe2nd

I just had an idea of how a modern version of RDR2's hunting for the camp should be like, thought I'd share

Players can grocery shop, pick up items similar to RDR 2's animation, and store them in the fridge at home.

If the protagonist has a family they could also add the food "sufficient" or "depleted" icon.

Being able to store large items in the trunk and even backseat of the car would be fire as well.

Crafting and hunting should come back but only in clothing form, if you were go out to the Everglades and kill a gator, you can skin it and take the hide and fashion it into a pair of gator boots / shoes or hat.

I'm not a big fan of the having to feed your family idea. I mean think about it, one moment you're stunt jumping a sports car through the ring of fire in a blaze of awesome action and glory that only a video game can give you, and then the next you've gotta spend 30 minutes of your time shopping for food at the supermarket like it's your boring real life. I mean, maybe if it was the sims and thus a life simulator it would be a fine suggestion, and the sims games are good games, but GTA is the series you go to when you want a good story and big open world to mess around with, and having to go shopping at whatever interval is going to drive both the intense story and the wacky open world fun to a grinding halt while you go and get milk.

You're forgetting that you don't have to do it. You didn't have to feed the gang at camp in RDR 2, it just adds to the game.

Who the hell living in a urban metropolis city dealing with crime would know how to skin a gator and would want to do it?
In the old wild west it makes sense. In a modern urban scenery it makes absolutely no sense.

But the car trunk as a storeage is fine to me. Things like bombs, tools, chains, shovel, fire extinguisher, etc

Would the game bother you or debuff you for not doing it?

It didn't penalize you for not doing it in RDR 2

Needing to eat and take care of your camp are things I didn't really care for in RDR2 and don't think they'd translate very well at all to GTA. Throwing a grocery store simulator into the game would be a big no from me. Even if it's completely optional, I'd still rather see Rockstar focus their time and energy almost anywhere else.

I could maybe see hunting and crafting working, though, so long as we're not the ones doing the crafting. You want shoes made out of a rare albino alligator? There's a tailor who can make that for you but you're gonna have to get the materials. Sort of like the special outfits in RDR2.

This could be applied to all sorts of things, too. You want diamond encrusted pistols? Go rob a jewelry store. Bear skin seat covers? Go kill a bear. Steal a handful of cars, take them to a custom/chop shop and have some sort of hybrid made.

Would rather it didn’t have that. Red Dead does it because it fits the theme of the Old West; surviving out in the isolated bush, needing to be self-sufficient out of necessity. The most I can see them do is have to fuel your car, along with the strength/combat system from San Andreas. The hair/beard growth and trimming is a neat mechanic I’d like to see return, along with the limiting of what guns you can carry at any given moment. Otherwise GTA is simply too fast-paced for such a slow and methodical gameplay mechanic to be anything other than an annoyance.

i actually love the idea. i have always wanted a supermarket like walmart in the game. and sure i know many people would not want it. but it could be optional. and it would be fun. just imagine the fun pranks you could get up to in the store. and i also loved the food system in rdr2 too. in fact i made a post a while back on this same section of the forum asking if people would want the cores and provisions stuff to return. like how you could buy stuff at a vending machine and each option has different benefits to your cores or stats. almost like the perk a colas from cod. except without it giving you magical powers.

I dont really care about our protagonist having a family. I would actually hate the idea. as far as the food goes, restaurants and fast food joints will do. I dont wanna buy and store food. completely against it.

Not really fully against it,I love realism but these just don't fit in. Like food for family and stuff those are for simulators. But I do like the idea of storing food in the fridge and then you can eat it like you would In a fast food restaurant.also remind rockstar everywhere that we need gta sa's best feature #weneedgangwars

Okay maybe I made that up but we need gangwars it's so damn cool

Then why even have it? No benefits, no consequences, I mean, I've seen reviewers mention this in RDR 2 reviews as well, how donating to the camp felt pointless because the story didn't change at all.

Seems like a waste of resources to me.

You're right, but saying "it's a waste of resources" is comical, it's either you have these options in the game or don't have it all. I could say the weight system in RDR 2 is useless but it's either you get that or it never being implemented at all; I'd rather it be in than not.
