This is a mod collection and a collaboration between multiple users that aims to feature as many changes from III's development history as possible. It's also a reason to do a quality inspection and release some mods I did that were gatekept for a while. The folder will be updated from time to time so keep an eye on the thread for any new content. In the meanwhile, enjoy :)

It's actually not released yet 😛

 

I had it fully done before I formatted my HDD, so it's gone. I can do it again once I install 3ds max.

UPDATE:

-added playerx Claude model (no cutscene head yet, tool is bugged at the moment)

-updated Donald Love texture with .txds I had around, might be updated

-added E3 timecyc, courtesy of The Hero

-added BETA timecyc, based on the E3 timecyc but with purple mornings, by Matt1010

-added Late Beta Blue Radar, also courtesy of The Hero

-added Late Beta HUD variations, thanks to Matt1010

 

I also have textures for Catalina and Kenji but I'll have to check them out again since they are pretty old.

Will you also add stuff from the alpha stages? I'd love to have a GTA3D-style timecyc but without the short draw distance.

While I intend on restoring the vehicles.dff and peds.dff stuff at one point, I don't think it's worth doing anything related to it, as GTA3D keeps doing a fantastic job with each version. Early Beta, on the other hand, is another story.

UPDATE:

-added playerx cutscene head thanks to Jago (will be updated once The Hero fixes his tool, kams has weird issues with materials at times)

-added PS2 Joey texture

-added Catalina textures + a few variations

 

 

Fun fact: The PC/Xbox/Mobile head model was actually used for PS2 at one point. However, the texture itself was reused from the PS2 cutscene head. The PS2 ingame model actually has a texture that makes the head look pretty similar to how it used to look. I included 3 other extra textures because I'm not sure about certain details like cheek shadows and lips color.

It's pretty interesting they originally were using this model, because artwork presumably shows her with the usual PS2 look.

 

Another fun fact: Certain scenes don't have animated character heads. In the screenshot below, Cat looks angrier than in the final cutscene.

Well I have seen this car in your older GTA 3 Beta cars topic, which I assume It was made by kretin8, but not sure If It is released

Also this blue Yardie Lobo with different wheels would be cool to have it included as well as an additional download:

The car itself can be found on mobile vehicle.dff. GTA3D uses it, along with proper textures. I'll take care of the cars one day.

There's something that came across my head yesterday before going to bed. Have you thought of adding Portland's beta hospital and maybe police station as well? I don't even know why R* scrapped their betas, the ones in the final game are just copypastas of those from Shoreside Vale.

 

EDIT: If you let me help, I made beta blue Yardie carcols for my personal project. You can use it freely:

yardie, 53,75 

 

If not the exact same color, it should be a really close remake. You can still fiddle with similar colors if you want to.

Just don't forget to credit me xD

Also speaking of gang vehicles, the Cartel Cruiser was black and was called Columbia. Here's two lines you can try:

 

columb, 70,76

columb, 0,76

I know about the video. It's pretty useful for certain details like cars or the sniper crosshair.

 

Interesting pics, Cleyton. The second one's font reminds me of the E3 one, plus the general style (cars, etc)

Fun fact:

Spoiler

The PC Sentinel is an earlier model that was used right until pre-release. With the correct carcols, it can look identical to the one from this screenshot:

That is because of the way the materials are arranged, which also can be seen on the Wreck Mafia Sentinel (which itself is earlier - probably around the time the German trailer was recorded)

As such, it makes sense that the Mafia Sentinel seen in the guide and pre-release footage is similar to the PC Sentinel:

@Jinx.: I have the leaked .SCR source found in the iOS port of the game, and there's truckload of cut content in there. How about I work on a BETA SCM for you?

 

EDIT:

 

I recently checked the playerx model's shotgun and I've noticed it's model is somewhat different than what we actually get to use in the final game. It seems a little bit more colorful and "thinner". Maybe you could check it out?

The timecyc reminds me of something you would expect from a Vice City game.

Fun fact: the paintjob on this car was hidden by materials. The faces are still there.
