The problem is that we don't know how the map is going to work yet. If they go the Go to marker > Loading Screen > Unload Main map > Load Island > Teleport player route, then that's not going to work in SP. In that case it will need all the map data relocating so that we can have it in the map all the time. That includes pathing nodes and a whole bundle of other stuff.

 

The scripts are going to check if the network is host and won't run if it's not, so they will need recreating... and recreating complex scripts is time consuming.

 

I hope they add the island in a way that forces them to modify core-code that makes it easier to get it into SP but there's no guarantee, so it could end up being a fairly complex task getting it in there.

 

Edit: Sorry, I guess SP talk is probably off-topic for this thread, my apologies if so.

it is actually easier than you think.

i mean the same is with the aircraft carrier and when loading online the map switches to the mp map, which we can already load via mods.

and the island will not be harder than the aircraft carrier.

we know by now how the game works, and it´s not possible to make the island so mods can´t load it

I know how the online map works, I create script mods that frequently manipulate map content and I have created map addons,... and have been doing so for the last 5+ years. But the aircraft carrier already exists as an IPL "hei_carrier" at 3051.22046, -4668.22168, 19.0794754 which is not near the main map. So it's simple to switch in, you just request the IPL for the carrier and its associated parts... like the Yachts. There's nothing else to hide, nothing to remove. So if the island exists at a location that is not in conflict with any other map content, then yes... it's a simple process and no, I won't have a problem making that happen. *touch wood*

 

But if they decide to put the island where the main map is and switch out the whole main map during a loading screen to display it, then mods will need to do the same thing. The island will have the same map coordinates as the main map.

 

But here's the kicker... neither me, you, or anyone else knows if that's the case yet. We don't know how it will work and until we do, it isn't easier than anyone thinks. This could quite easily be a map expansion of a type we have never seen before, there could be a bunch of natives we have never seen before to make it appear. You can't make presumptions based on what we already know and what we can already do, not with this dlc.

 

Edit: And once again I am apologising... This is why I don't take part in discussions on here, because I ruin them when people presume I know nothing and I get irate in the response... sorry. I will stay away until after the dlc has been released. :(

Why would they do that when they have miles and miles of empty ocean they could use?
