Lol, the GTAO article got yeeted. The timing was weird to be honest, it's been in preparation for over 6 hours, so definitely something prepared for Thursday or Friday.

I’d like a grenade launcher add on. Instead of pressing left(d-pad) to throw explosive while aiming, replace the function with a switch to the launcher and pressing the trigger to launch it. That could work... Could replace the grip on mk2 variants.

Keep in mind the root cause of this "freeroam" debate traces back to the limited capabilities of base consoles, which is what causing everyone to raise doubts about such topic.

 

A feasible alternative would be to ditch the base consoles and keep it exclusive to the newer consoles, but that's like ditching the majority of your community. Even worse, the demand on the new consoles is high enough, that it's going out of stock so quickly, so you can imagine the backlash.

 

It's a dilemma, not a missed opportunity.

 

(If the devs are experiencing trouble with base consoles, I would have told them "just ditch it", cuz I already secured a next-gen console :kekw:)

 

EDIT: Frankly, the blame also lays on Rockstar too, but I think it's worth noting that it's not mainly on Rockstar too, and if the island truly ends up exclusive to the heist, I would still think that given more time, the devs could have found a way to compromise, but that equals a delay which is not good for them financially speaking. Plus, this expansion has clearly been in development for so long, so who knows? Maybe, they were trying to find a way around all this time.

Anyhow, I think people are making a big deal of this, the island would still be a new place to explore and have fun in regardless of whether it's instanced or not.

Free, dont worry about it, we got the news post talking about when we get it (15 dec) so if it was a paid they would've mentioned it at that time.


Paid DLC will most likely never happen (the whole point of the current shark card model is that a small portion of playerbase pays for the DLC for whole playerbase) or if they do happen eventually, it will still be a few years off (i mean i could see them do a paid DLC to bolt GTA6 map onto GTA:Online, but yea, thats years into the future)

The reasoning is because of the size of the island. It’s roughly the size of the Alamo Sea, which means that’s a LOT of wasted space if it’s only used for a few linear missions. Look at North Yankton, the only solid and detailed places are the single road used during the prologue and the one mission that goes there, and the cemetery and bank used during their respective missions. Everything else is low-poly and practically barren. Meanwhile this island is fully modelled and detailed everywhere. Why would they model a cove on the opposite side of the island when you’ll never be allowed to go there? It doesn’t make any logical sense to spend the resources to make a medium-sized island you can’t use. The only reason Guarma is like that is because they intended to make it fully explorable but were forced to abandon the plan for time constraints, leaving 85% of the island with the graphical fidelity of Mario 64. Which again, this new island isn’t like that. Fully rendered and modelled.

I srsly don't know what you even mean by that.

North Yankton takes place in story mode where you don't have a lot of freeroam. Thats why there was no reason to make more of it.
Online heist on the other hand? They not gonna place some invisible walls on the island, if you can fly above the island, swim around it, it obviously needs to be rendered fully lol

And the island isn't that big according to the mapping thread. Modeling the rest of it wouldn't take a lot of extra effort and resources.

So what's wrong with it being in freemode? You load into the casino.. 20 seconds... Walk to the travel desk. 20 seconds.. Black screen loads island..20.seconds. You would still be in the same lobby but just elsewhere? 😆

 

I sure wish I was one of the individuals who ACTUALLY knew for sure how we are getting there!! Damn it! 😆

That was my point. North Yankton is so barren because it wasn’t designed with freeroam in mind. This island is dense and sprawling, heavily implying that it IS designed for freeroam.

 

You honestly think the heist alone is going to have us exploring every single nook and cranny of an island at least the size of Sandy Shores? C’mon, mate. The size and level of detail is bloody good evidence they intend to let us do more than be railroaded into specific mission tasks there. If it were JUST the heist and we couldn’t go there otherwise, the island would be one of those tiny cays with only enough space for the mansion like this:

Can you send me the empty post data?
I have a script in NodeJS that checks the posts but i need a definite JSON data of an existing empty post to check for empty posts currently I just check if error is null / data is null and decide to print or not.

I reckon an IAA agent is our boss for this heist. Which agent? Maybe Agent 14, maybe Phoenicia Rackman, maybe Michelle (Karen) or even ULP.

 

Or maybe it's the IAA (with all the people I listed above) including Lester and Bogdan (for the submarine).

They are separating story from online, but on the new consoles, not sure about PC though. The second half of 2021 is when the standalone of GTA:O is due.

Theory: IAA sends there 2 special agent to find the secret files/blueprints (which is held by the druglord) but later IAA finds out that there agent is dead but the blueprints are with the deadbody(briefcase) and the second agent went missing so Mrs Rackman calls Lester for a favour , Then lester thinks why don't we just save the agent and took all the cocaine from the druglord (ez muneh) then he calls the online protagonist and that's how it starts.

The casino DLC weighed around 3.5GB. Hoping to see a lot of stuff and counting a new location, I guess it's around 10GB.

Again, go check out the mapping thread. Nothing about this island screams "freeroam". Every part of it is owned by the cartel. So it looks every part of it it will be connected to the heist

Beach party = infiltration
Runway, docks = a way to get in / get out
drug crops = obviously heavily guarded. We either sneak around them or burn them to distract the guards 
The mansion = the main heist location, obviously

I would love to be as optimistic as you are. But nothing about this place screams "freeroam" to me. It looks as what it is, an island made specifically for a huge ass heist. There are no "freeroam" parts here from the looks of it.

But hopefully theres another small island with a tiny town that we can visit. But for now I doubt it.

Since its a huge heist with a new island + 100 songs and new DJs? Its gonna be pretty huge.

Nightclub dlc seemed huge at first but most of it were uncompressed songs.

that won't save on update size.

 

only the initial game download will be smaller

Size on PC is around 89.9 gb i guess , it will hit 100 on 15th dec, Then it will be standalone , (R.I.P Story mode character switch)

Since we almost certainly can’t explore the new island, I hope we’re getting more updates to Los Santos than just a new room in the casino. The fact that we were so close to a change in scenery will only make me more tired of LS if they don’t finally do SOMETHING to it.

The scary bit is "over 100 songs", cause that alone could weigh around 1-2 GB. That's just songs, not including soundtracks, so that also could weight a bit more too. Counting all the island textures and everything, would be around the same size you guessed, 10 GB or a bit more.

Finally, Grand Theft Auto V will become the 100+ GB game from the original 70GB game (17GB on PS3 and XBOX 360).

I just wondered if you think they will dripfeed things, or do what they did in the summer and dump it all on us at once in a "Here, fill yer boots!" kind of way...

Nightclub dlc seemed huge at first but most of it were uncompressed songs. 

It’s like you’re willingly looking at half the map. Do you not see the small city on the left with the docks? As well as multiple towns/villages spread out around the surrounding area of the left portion of the map? And who are the people at the tents/beaches and such? Are they farmers by day and rich partygoers by night? I don’t think so. They’d also need a place to stay. Like rentable/purchasable villas and/or hotel villas/suites; which is something we might receive. And the ‘Bienvenidos’ sign is probably just above the road to the entrance to the second half of the island which would be mostly farms, perhaps a militarized dock apart from the civilian one in the city, an outpost; at least one, and his compound. Also, all the R* provided screenshots are facing one direction with the sun setting. They’re deliberately hiding an entire portion of the place.  

 

 

Edit: By the way, I hope you’re all aware these are coca plants(which are used with other chemicals to make cocaine) and not a weed farm.

Would be good if they drip fed us a few set ups prior to release. We could be stealing that sub for refitting

Since we can solo this heist but also play with another 3 players, I am now wondering if we will have any of those achievements that are similar to the criminal mastermind challenges of DDH.. and original Heists..Hopefully we will be able to get all of the achievements by ourselves alone independent of others
