A bit off topic, but the only good and unexpected thing i want from Rockstar by now is the release of the Lost Slamvan for us to buy. 

Its so stupid that is locked behind casino wheelspin.

I'm massively over-simplifying here, but basically there could be three levels of marketing/comms going on:

 

1) The prep for the next big Rockstar release. This will have an eight-figure budget. It will be innovative, extremely visible and very well planned.

 

2) Then there's the marketing for new DLCs. Again, this has a respectable budget. It's not very innovative but it's tried and tested and it does the job. Everyone here will have seen ads for recent DLCs while moving around the web, at the time they came out.

 

3) Then there is the day-to-day community engagement. That's where the big problem sits. As I mentioned, it belies a lack of interest from higher-up decision makers. Normally it is mercurial and aloof at best. It seems a low priority and I doubt it creates much goodwill or engagement with the community. As an example, think of all the possibilities that could be generated from collaborations with musicians and brands, and the massive potential if this were backed strategically by a comms project with defined goals. Instead they just put out a random and incongruent article on the Rockstar newswire with a few links, and that's it.

Can’t tell if stretching the drip feed bodes well or poorly for us getting a spring dlc. Honestly, if it’s just gonna be kart races and 3 cars what’s the point?

 

It does make sense they didn’t enable the panther though, I’m sure the player base cleaned up last week with the heist bonuses..

Kart races, with Opening the mall with Vincent missions like casino or yacht Style plus 10/15 Cars and more garage space as possible spring dlc could make the July/August wait more "enjoyable" at least imo, this event week is underwhelming, of course i was not especting much due to the past cayo perico bonus but at least the panther statue would have been nice

You can clearly see that the MSBHV and Civilist collab happened mainly due to the deep connections the DJs had with Rockstar.

Talking about music...I wonder what they will do with the GTA V OG radio music, usually R* gets licenses for 10 years, and the game is gonna turn 10 years old in 2 years(yup that's it), and they removed songs in GTA IV exactly when it turned 10 years old, because the licenses expired, I wonder if they will renew them or they will replace it with other music, because I feel real pain when I am listening Vladivostok FM on GTA IV without memorable OG songs, something like this lol:

Maybe Expanded and Enhanced means the licences have been renewed for all the music, even if only for that version of the game.

Exactly, that was a stab in the back for me lol, I need to restore the music on PC because there is where they removed all those songs, strange but in my PS3 version the last update was 5 or 6 years ago and they didn't removed those songs, and it is the digital version not disk version, I wonder why but I prefer it stays like that with the old music on PS3 lol

That did make me think of that crashed helicopter on Cayo Perico you can take a picture of and send to Pavel, but you need to parachute to that spot. Might be an easter egg, I guess.

As long as it doesn't hinder their development of gameplay and the sandbox and they don't start shoehorning DJ's into the plotline of every future DLC. To put it respectfully based on After Hours & CPH, they're DJ's not actors. It'll be cringey suddenly seeing real world brands in a game that used to make innuedo-ridden parodies (prime personal example, my character wears BeatOff Headphones... bit awkward now that Dr Dre is beyond-radio canon) but business is business.

 

I mean, it's not like they'll start putting unskippable ads for IRL things in like the NBA franchise in the same format the Diamond Casino had an auto-play ad... right?

Funny you reference those 2 updates, since those two mini-stories have the same general mission design.

1 - Unsuspectingly Inciting/Unrelated Incident that takes place across the map.

2 - Work at HQ, results in going off somewhere else.

3 - Posh mission with unique moment.

4 - Attack Enemy Operation, but not their main HQ to give them a setback.

5 - Defend HQ from full-on assault.

6 - Attack Enemy HQ and kill boss.

 

I don't say that as a negative, just the boundaries of what missions for Vincent at the mall could be like. It'd be funny if we were defending the Mall from a Heist Crew. If Rockstar really wanted to go nuts, reuse interiors to "create" the inside of the mall for mission 5. Have the Heist crew plan to rob a Diamond store in the mall (reuse Vangelico but replace the doors with solid ones) and we have to fight hired guns through Vangelico, an Arcade, a Cargo Warehouse, Staff Lobbies, and an Office.

Thats the regular idea, what Rockstar could do and call it a day....My wishfull thinking idea is this:

Vincent has multiple debts with the Yakuza mafia due to illegal bets, and his mall cop is not paying the bills, so he call us and lay a plan to do some Jobs like mini bank heist like fleeca, stole yakuza supplies, kidnap a yakuza sensei and get an extorsión payment, a full war like GTA III against them until we kill the boss and set Vincent free, but this is absolutamente wishfull thinking but i think a mafia aspects to the modern gta online status Will be so refreshing

Rockstar NYC and their Community Managers are the ones in charge of the Newswire and social media. They have a whole Community Management department. Rockstar North has nothing to do with what the Americans do, so to speak. Literally. Their CM teams literally talk to us fansites from time to time, nothing to do with North. Unfortunately, in a sense.
