If I remember correctly, there were some Didier Sachs visitable stores scheduled in GTA IV but they were cancelled. The only real store we could see was in San Andreas. After reflection I don't think it means much, Didier Sachs is mentioned everywhere in GTA IV and GTA V and Michaels bank statements show that he purchased clothes at DS. It was just a reference to their own universe, nothing more in my opinion.

I guess you haven't understood what I was implying, I pointed out an observation from this update that I found strange - people feeling uptight about irl brands that aren't well known but having in the same update Dr. Dre in it.

Because irl brands appearing in GTA is a new thing but musicians, comedians are not. GTA already has extensive history with music industry and it's going to new heights with what they're doing in Cayo Perico and the Music locker. And regarding the clothing brand case, I wouldn't see too much in this yet.

One last thing about Didier Sachs, the person who writes these newswire may not know the universe and it doesn't matter, nobody knows it at 100%. Maybe he just mentioned a luxury brand, nothing more. The Lore that they have fleshed out at each game is so vast that they get their brushes tangled up. I quote @SpaceOdyssey69 "losing your minds over some relativly unknown brands". That's true, we have DRE, Ricky Gervais and Phil Collins. And I'm not even talking about all the people who host radio stations. And speaking of dark lore, did you know that Toni had sex with the entire Duran Duran line-up in a bus tour? The addition of two small brands is not really a problem, we are far from Adidas, Supreme or Lacoste (there it would be a huge disappointment). There are some brands that would be less of a problem than others (I'm thinking of Thrasher, R* made a skateboard game with their brand). And even then, they still created the Trickster brand. I think we're far from having big brands, so much the better.

That was my inital thought too, newswire dipping their toes slightly into the lore.

 

Duran Duran was quite extensively mentioned in Vice City. I even remember a mission with Love Fist where a member of the band members mentions that a guilty pleasure for one of them was listening to Duran Duran. 

 

And yes, I totally do not see them collabing with some industry heavy hitters regarding clothing. They usually go with some underground stuff when it comes to those things. Mainly because r* likes to punch up.

To be fair, the Panther Statue would've been kind of underwheming seeing how it'd probably be worth the same as Pink Diamond was during the 50% week..

 

But for those who just want the award for stealing every loot, then yeah it's a bit annoying.

If anything, a quiet week suits, after a week of constant heisting. I could do with a break, unless the panther statue or diamonds are brought in. If anything, I would prefer diamonds to go back to Casino heisting. Change it up a bit since I haven't done a single DCH since CP was brought in. Either way, I surpassed 100 million, so if it's a quiet week, I may take a break from GTAO. Try and finish BOTW or check out a new game.

As its been mentioned already, cameos are nothing new, they were a thing ever since GTA III, it's not a concern for me in the slightest. The fact is that this are the first (outside of R* games themselves) intentional (cuz stuff like Coca-Cola, Sony and Pokemon did slip thru the cracks on random textures) real live brand in GTA, and as I sad, whats next? Now are those small underground brands, but nothing is stopping them now from collaborating with big brands, and that feels like putting a Dominos Pizza in the Fantasy RPG...

 

 

I'm fairly sure that bigger and smaller brands would love to work with Rockstar...

 

And I'm sorry if I'll sound mean, but because of people like @SpaceOdyssey69 whom think that collabs are "transcending the game", the game actually becomes more diluted and generic. It makes the game lose its world building and character that's been built for years by likes of Steven Walsh. Rockstar sadly only sees the praises and not the the criticism and if more people like that pop up the more IRL brands we will see.

 

Good thing is I've seen more backlash to the whole MSBHV and Civilist thing then the praise, still I'm really sad that there are people who actually dont think at all about this (world building) stuff and when they are advocating to "look at the bigger picture", they actually don't do that themselves.

Also same goes to the cars that are near carbon copy of IRL ones, with changed badge. Rockstar has become lazy and I'm personally not happy with it.
