What really was wrong with R* that they skipped the idea of online for so long is beyond me. Ideas that were in SAMP were so interesting that IV multiplayer pales in comparison.

 

@Spider-Vice I actually remember playing GTA 2 back in the time, I used to have that original paper city map, very sad that I've lost it. Feeling a bit bad for donating original V Collectors edition too for the same reason.

 

 

Edit: I remember that both GTA 1 and 2 were featuring LAN-enabled multiplayer though. III was the bad apple where it all started.

Well, that actually gives some food for thought, as the speculation on Online back then was based on available technology level. As it progresses...who knows what we might get? A movie with Ryan Reynolds perhaps.

Sure, I could have spent a couple thousand bucks for a decent LS and transmission, headers that would fit, an engine harness, power steering conversion stuff, spend several months fabricating engine and trans mounts, sourcing all the parts, etc.

 

Or just spend $1500 on a building traditional engine and drop it in no fuss no muss.

So, Rockstar skipped two article IDs to publish the RDO article, which is weird yet common. Similar cases happened before and nothing happened, but usually tends to be one article. I won't raise my expectations too much and would prefer to keep an eye on the newswire.

Just a meme. I found out about GTA OCW a year or two ago, by just hitting the random page button on the GTA Wiki out of boredom, so you can imagine how mindblown I was.

OCW is hardwired in my mind with Open Course Ware from MIT, amazing platform for online learning! Working on my probability theory gaps there, very good materials absolutely for free. Not as cool/ hip as Coursera stuff that modern kids like, but fundamental topics are being explained by serious profs and book authors.

I think the "unexpected" was in relation to a full blown remake vs a simple remaster.

If You think about it, the pandemic is not going anywhere, a Lot of people like me is working in shifts, so i have more time for gaming, most of people in the world are very límited with things to do outside, for Rockstar is the perfect time to release more content as in remastered games and updates to GTA online, for this reason i have hopes for a march/April update, plus they mentioned a free vehicle...why promote in february a free vehicle coming in July/August???

Exactly, even this year the E3 is happening, digital, but is happening, and last year was cancelled and it wasn´t replaced by a digital one, things have changed a bit, as an example, the E3 cancellation could have affected new games announcements, maybe because the slow developements because of the pandemic and lockdowns, that´s a very important point

@Crateman I fully agree with you regarding March/April.
And on top of that the free vehicle will probably just be the Verus. They didn't say "new vehicle", unless there's a surprise update next week it could be this one. I don't think they will offer a Dinghy. Anyway next week is special.
