I think it's more like they made the early announcement due to CP77 releasing in December and picked its former date as a suitable date for teasing.

Yes, that's why they released the teaser and trailer in a hurry and made a heist for a second year in a row (for the first time ever) and on a new island, because they don't care lmao. Lucky for us, they care and that's why we get "the biggest update ever".

Well said man. Rockstar isn't perfect. They need help from the real GTA fans of 10+ 20+ years to let them know! We don't want to see them slide down the drain with all the mistakes they've made.

Cyberpunk really has the potential, following the path of single player first and then launching an online version.
 

What baffles me about Cyberpunk tho, is all the character customization options but not being able to play 3rd person. Arrggghhhh!!!!

define a "hurry"

They could've easily went for a more requested theme like Cops and Robbers and would've gotten way more attention towards GTAOnline, yet they did a heist instead and on a new island and with little marketing, they don't care.

That's my biggest meh about the game, I might consider it eventually but had it been in 3rd person it would've gotten my interest.

They can go the "Rockstar" way and add a third person view as an update just like GTA V did with 1st person view.

Cyberpunk and Gta might look similar on the surface but don't forget that they are really different games in their core mechanics (from what we've seen so far)

 

Marketing wise Cyberpunks action packed approach to trailers is very smart and can deceive the untrained gamer.

 

I have friends, casual gamers that will get Cyberpunk one day one because of that.

How will ever be a mode more requested than a heist on an island? With 100 new songs, new weapons and a frickin' submarine? They obviously care. Idk why you like to think they don't and I am glad Rockstar doesn't have this mentality lol. If Cyberpunk will live to its hype, don't  forget that they also have a multiplayer planned for next year which means that a new open-world online game will be there to compete.

Oh one more thing regarding the potential for the car community in CP77:

 

The fact that they have a hundred year old Porsche from 1977 in the game in 2077.

 

Makes it possible to have all cars in the game made between 1977 and 2077!

Nah I doubt they care about a single game. We don't know if they released the trailer in a hurry or if it was when they always intended to. Heists have probably been the most popular updates they have done and with the current map they can't really out do the casino heist or have a heist be real different from the current ones. The new island coming now is probably to keep people interested until the next expansion comes out. Most new updates and content gets forgotten about after a month at the most and people are bored but it will be 6+ months before the new expansion comes out and a new location can keep people around for a long time depending on how it's done.

Yeah, the obviously do care to some extend. However they know it wont affect them in the long run. Sure CP77 will get the attention for a while but the big majority of GTA players will always return shortly after.

As a mere speculation, do you think we can have information tomorrow? Or on Thursday, the 10th, when R * will need to compete with CP77 for community attention ??

I don't think they care, at least not to the point where they would create content to compete, I think it's what Fun said above, it's just marketing, and I wasn't talking about a stupid mode, I was talking about an entire update centered around Cops and Crooks or Street Racing, they could've also marketed the crap out of this if they care that much, yet we got that trailer and nothing after that, they marketed Gunrunning better than they did for their "Biggest Update"

Yes it can deceive the untrained gamer but the info on the gta DLC is so dry that even a trained gamer can get a Fata Morgana in here.

I think the first week of launch is the most important for R *, with this “biggest update of all time” advertisement and early announcement, they hope to break the record for the Diamond Casino update, which had the most in a week.

A new location has been reqested for longer and by far more people than an adversary mode. I'm really looking forward to this update but if it was just cops and robbers I couldn't care less. A new location will gave far more gameplay than a simple game mode and will keep people playing far longer.

I dont think you didn't really understand what we meant with "didnt care". Rockstar didn't cared about the launch of Cyberpunk77. Obviously Rockstar DID care when it came to the update itself. You described it yourself quite clearly that the DLC will be amazing with lots of care. I agree.

I can't believe I have to say this again, I am not talking about a freaking adversary mode, I'm talking about an entire update following that theme.

I think Rockstar is much more of a corporate machine than it used to be, they’re culturally more about managerialism and less about nights out in neon and chrome strip clubs in Ibiza. 
 

You could argue that this approach produced some spectacularly bad (or spectacularly badly explained) decisions recently, so they might be keen to regain some of their reputation and profile with this update. Nothing I’ve seen seems to suggest they want to do this by engaging more closely with their fan / player base.
