LittleBlueTroll
In Kingspray VR, you use your phone to take photos, and I finally worked out where they were stored and how to access them. Here is some bits I've done so far in VR world... OysterBarron, pingli and Mister Pink
pingli
I also recommend this iPhone app for Quest users, recording mixed reality has never been easier than this. You can use the app via testflight feature on your iOS device. The dev is stated that the app should come eventually to android too.
pingli
Figured I'd relive this thread since quite a bit of stuff is going on in VR world. Here are some interesting news roundup; - Quest 2 received 120hz support and Air Link ( Official PCVR wireless streaming, buh bye cables ) - Quest 2 hand tracking support received 60hz update, it's a bit better than before but it's still far away from being better than controllers. - Complete remake from the ground up of Resident Evil 4 is announced for VR, sadly, it's Quest 2 exclusive. - PlayStation has announced PSVR2 and we got controller screenshots, sadly they haven't shown us how the HMD looks like, but I assume we will see it soon since they shown us the controllers already. - And last but not least, next week HTC's Vivecon event is live, it starts at may 11th and ends on may 12th, we are expected to see multiple new headsets from them. The reason I still haven't updated from HTC Vive over to Valve Index is because the former works flawlessly with official wireless setup, and that's a huge game changer. Of course, I did upgrade to the Index controllers, because that's just a must for Steam VR. There is a rumor that next Index will be wireless. Fingers crossed. My headset definitely needs an upgrade. pingli
Earlier this week HTC announced two new headsets; HTC Vive Pro 2 and Vive Focus 3, personally I am mildly disappointed. They are great spec wise but price is really debatable. Vive Focus 3, priced $1300, specs Vive Pro 2, priced $800 if you buy HMD only, full kit is $1,400, specs We have yet to see some competition to Quest 2 since it's the most popular headset right now, and I personally think PSVR2 will be the closest we will get to some sort competition. Mainly because I expect PSVR2 to be priced around the same as Q2 or maybe even less, obviously PSVR2 wouldn't be direct competition since it's going to be wired and depend on PS5, but still, I think it's gonna be an amazing think to get since Sony is really serious about VR. trip
Hey remember when 'they' were pushing 'the metaverse'? People were going to live in virtual worlds while having VR goggles strapped to their head in the physical world. Ahhhh fun times. Seems like only yesterday...wait, it was yesterday. AkshayKumar
I like the idea of an alternate existence in this metaverse It can never be a substitute for tangible real world experiences but I see it more as a fun alternate experience than a substitute, maybe a fun way to pass time for a few hours with your 'virtual life'. I've seen many people on the internet dunk on it saying it's dystopian/an episode of Black Mirror come to life but idk why I don't feel it's anything like that. The idea of a 'second existence' is almost exciting to me lol Though my knowledge of this is cursory tbf and i heard there are valid concerns about how much information you give control to Meta. And i don't think I'll be getting into this in any case Edited March 19 by AkshayKumar trip

dieseltech20
I hopped on the VR train a couple years back and while it looked great it just wasn't for me. I could play this one game, Sneaky Bears, without issue and loved it because the character just had to stand there. Anything that involved movement though would result in me becoming violently ill within a few minutes. Damn near gave that expensive setup away for free just to get it out of my house. As we can operate our physical bodies in real life in first person. Here is a stranger topic in real life can we see each other in 3rd person? I think yes and no. Wow! Sorry, and I'll say this till the cows come home but consumer VR will just never stick and be 'a thing'. I've probably been saying that since the late 80's - early 90's when people started to say VR is the future. if VR was a thing Sony VR would already be a thing. Much like how blu-ray is the standard now since so many households had PS3s during the blu-ray/dvd format battles. But you don't hear a lot about Sony VR. You don't see ads directed at the general public hyping people into Sony VR. Don't get me stated on Facebook and them trying to convince the world that the 'metaverse' was a thing. Bottom line is the apparatus of it all. No one wants to strap something on their face in total darkness, in isolation for that long. There is no way to present VR without strapping something to your face and not knowing if a real life murderer just crawled through your window. It's just such an isolated activity. Even if they got the goggles so that it was just like putting on a pair of aviator sun glasses, I'm still not sure VR would stick as a mainstream consumer gaming product. Mister Pink
I've only ever experiencee live-action VR and it blew me away. I tried it out at a tech summit I was at and Samsung had a stand there. The locations and scenarios were skiing down a mountain, being on the alter of a lively African church with singing and dancing, on stage between Bono and The Edge and then in a cinema theatre. The theatre was eerie because I was experiencing it on a chair so it lent itself perfectly to the scenario. I loved it. And while it might be a bit of a novelty, I'd love to have that bit of escapism with more live-action VR. Perhaps a concert could work or a trip to a virtual cinema with a friend that lives far away where you can watch a popcorn movie and half a laugh. As for gaming VR, I think it might be a bit of a novelty, however I am jealous of PlayStation users having the option on PS. My laptop is capable of VR so it's not like I'm stuck. However, it would be nice on Xbox too, if even just for live-action VR. For racing games, VR is actually perfect because obviously you sit down when you drive, so it shouldn't be too jarring or inconvenient. If you have a chair, gear sticks and pedals, even more immersive. This video is perfect.. the excitement is infectious.
