They were just planes with no pilot, I thought they were real ghost planes because of a mod i saw on youtube when cj was at las brujas he aims a gun at nothing and suprisingly a green triangle showed up. I bet that a lot of people fly out of normal boundaries though and didn't know that doing this can have some pretty nasty side-effects.
