Edit: So I just read TakeTwo's 2020 annual report and it says that there are currently 4300 game developers working for their 23 studios around the world.

Edit 2: I'll try listing all of the studios take two has:

2k ( 8 Studios) Edit: (9 Studios)

2k Chengdu

2k Vegas

31st Union

Cat Daddy Games

Cloud Chamber Games

Hangar 13

Visual Concepts

Irrational Games

Ghost Story Games (1)

Private Division (4 Offices)

Social Point (1)

Rockstar Games (10)

Rockstar North

San Diego

Toronto

Lincoln

Leeds

New England

International (Is a publishing studio, so would Take Two include it in their annual report?)

London

India

Dundee

After we add them all up, the final number comes down to 25. But if we count all of the private Division offices as 1 studio, then the answer adds up to 22. So I seem to have missed some studios, which I'm pretty sure are a bunch of 2K ones. So I'll be needing some help in that.

After doing so, I think the next step should be finding out the employees of every studio that isn't Rockstar and subtracting it from the 4300 mentioned above.

  Hide contents

It didn't mention Rockstar Dundee, so

Rockstar Dundee

Keyword: Subsidiaries. We don't know which of these are game developing studios and I don't have the will power to find out. I just want to sleep.

Rockstar dundee have 30-40 employees i guess

So, I spent 30 minutes reading their annual report and it actually lists all of their subsidiaries so I think this might help.

The Delaware stuff doesn't count since they are incorporated in Delaware but don't really have offices there. It's a thing a lot of businesses do. Look up what a Delaware corporation is.

No, but being a cop in GTA game would mean they would kinda have to be corrupt

Being a cop in a GTA game would be a brilliant idea. Lots of potential there.

I'm not saying being a cop wouldn't be great but it's nothing like being a criminal, you know. You can argue that there should be two protagonists in the game but I really don't think they should do that, multiple protagonists is already done and if we have one GTA every decade or so, then I'd be pissed off if we have multiple protagonists again for another 10 years. I'd rather have a (well written) single protagonist, maybe a female protagonist if they really want to try something new.

Would love to see a police sub-villain like Dexter stalking the character throughout the game. Then you can add Manhunt to the Rockstar Pizza.

After playing RDRII (which still blows my mind) I can't even imagine what they can come up with for GTA VI. It's also interesting to see that many side missions and they are all interesting. You want to complete "story" only? Sure, you can do this but you'll miss a lot.

It's a very good edit👍. If the gasmask was replaced with a hockey mask I could see allot of people mistaking it as some kind of VI or Vice City remake tease.

this may be a little off topic but do you guys remember when Vice City was to be released, they did a sick interactable website where you'd be in the VCPD headquarters checking some of the characters and a few stuff i can't remember.

Just had a flashback of that moment and felt i should share it here.

GTA VI story will probably be an enhanced version or GTA IV and Vice City. Areas they could of done better at. Im sure Rockstar knows Vice City and Liberty City are fans favorites. More international characters, a wide array of landscape and wildlife, and clothing customizations are the current trends.

San Andreas introduced way more advantages to this series than just "RPG-mechanics". Just to name a few

+ huge, diverse world and ability to travel seamlessly between cities

+ incredible number of possibilities (freeroam gameplay)

+ huge range of vehicles and ability to customize them

+ most advanced handling in 3D era GTA games

Not at this scale.

San Andreas

+ ability to steal jet, fighter jet, hovercraft, train and so on and on

+ Too many activities to list all of them here so I'll just link this topic.

Both GTA III and Vice City were (are) great but San Andreas was revolutionary from pure gameplay standpoint.

For the million dollar question that has been asked before: Will GTA VI (and possibly RDR2 and V next gen) have ray tracing? Of course (and obviously it would).

https://www.rockstargames.com/careers/openings/position/4185361003

  • Experience using modern real time ray tracing APIs (DXR, NVX or vendor specific).

I don't think you understand what freedom is...

Freedom has been in the series since like GTA 1.

I'm not sure about GTA V because that one has a lot more problems at this point than lack of ray-traced reflections/shadows in terms of graphics and I can't see Rockstar just adding ray-tracing and leaving everything else in the dust. Not to even mention, that it would require a lot of programming work as GTA V on PC (I assume, that they would update PC version) supports only Directx 10/11 and none of this supports ray-tracing, porting the game to Vulkan would be a must. About RDRII and of course GTA VI, it's highly likely because RDRII uses Vulkan and Vulkan supports real time ray-tracing.

Hopefully it wont be another GTA V situation, graphics over features/physics. Considering how good RDR2 already looks, is it really worth the Massive performance impact

You don't have to turn it on if you don't want to. Reflections on highest setting in RDRII are very taxing and they still have all limitations of cube maps reflections.
