Maybe Rockstar will release your beloved Grand Theft Auto V SP DLC, haha... or no.

Told you R* can't sell GTAV Next Gen for 70$ without a story mode DLC! can not wait for that!

ROCKSTAR MANIC

Very likely that support on the Launcher will be related to the standalone version, I guess its the point where you're gonna go to install new updates and where your gonna launch GTAO.  Hmm I wonder how they are selling this new update though?  If they say its an expanded update, well it could be either 2 of things. New content and vehicles/ heists. Or the addition of  new enterable buildings and the latter. Really doubt they add LC.  Its too much work for them apparently if they did. Sometimes how they cheap out on a few new features with each new update.

Well GTAO standalone can't be called a DLC! It will be a separate game!
How can I say it...GTAO DLCs are not separate from main game data ... you can't choose manually to download it!
While DLC support means you have to buy it and manually/separately download it!

GTAV DLC is not happening.

GTAO is becoming standalone so it can work.

The only way the optional DLC can work in GTAO is something that is not shareable....

Liberty City fits this requisite, as it would act as a different lobby and would not affect players without the DLC.

I can already imagine them charging 29.99 for this DLC. ;)

They wouldn't add support for this one year before release, something is way closer.

I hope they overhaul the Rockstar Games Launcher to add achievements, playtime and social club integration. and please fix the GTA Trilogy to be moddable.

I don't know if this would happen but could it be RDR 2 Undead Nightmare, if it's not for the upcoming GTA Online DLC?

What if it could be a upcoming paywall for PC players to get more DLC's when the game releases on the next consoles? See, for XB1/PS4 players, they'll have to upgrade to a newer console to enjoy any more DLC. What if PC players have to 'upgrade', or 'expand and enhance' their game by paying for that? There's a reason why the game is cheaper than it was before on every platform, including PC.

It can very easily work.

1970s would definitely work in GTA released in 2020s, especially San Francisco.

And just one of the comments

Used to be such an interesting mix of people in The City. Rich, poor, middle class, blue collar and professional. Artists and musicians. Gay and straight. A really Bohemian place with something for everyone. Now there's almost nothing but rich techies and Chinese and the homeless. I miss the San Francisco of my youth. Hell, I miss the Bay Area of my youth. I know nothing stays the same (especially here) but sometimes change isn't always for the better.

To be honest, this place is known for its LGBT-friendly history

Rockstar could make any time and place work, really. 1970s would be really interesting, it hasn’t been done yet. Though with the scouting letter I think the game will take place in Miami, in either the 80s or present day.

The scouting letter might imply that something to do with GTA could take place in Miami.

It's worth remembering though that we just don't know whether or not Miami will be the main setting, or perhaps just one of the secondary locations or maybe even a side-mission.

It's all good, but not exactly suitable for a crime-oriented game.

San Francisco was pretty crime ridden back in 60s, 70s.

Quote

San Francisco in the 1970s was a global hub of culture. It was known worldwide for hippies and radicals. The city was heavily affected by drugs, prostitution and crime. Outcasts and the socially marginalized were attracted by a greater tolerance and acceptance of diverse cultures in the city. It grew as one of world's biggest centers for the LGBT community and LGBT rights. The rock music known as the San Francisco Sound was performed live and recorded by San Francisco-based rock groups of the mid-1960s to early 1970s. It was associated with the counterculture community in the city at the time.

The diversity and LGBT angle would also be right at home in 2020s America with the progressive politics.

Also a 1971 report states Oakland, SF as the 2nd highest crime rate behind Miami and followed by NY.

Quote

New York City had the third‐ highest major crime rate of any American community, with 5,220 crimes per 100,000 popu lation. Miami was first, with 5,342.8 and the San Francisco Oakland area was second, with 5,329.3. The authorities say, however, that exact comparisons between cities are complicated by the fact that cities use dif fering reporting procedures.

In 1969 the San Francisco Oakland area had the highest crime rate, 5,441.1 crimes per 100,000 population. Albuquer que was second with 5,018.3 and the Los Angeles‐Long Beach area was third with 4,852.1.

Also notable serial killings took place back in that time with the most famous being the Zodiac Killer. (Also Zebra Killers, The Doodler, The Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Killer etc.)

Hollywood also took notes. You could see it's reflection in films like Bullitt, all 5 Dirty Harry films, The Conversation (although it was mainly inspired by the Watergate Scandal of 1972).

It wasn't all sunny in SF for sure and a GTA would have tons of sources to take inspiration from.

1970s is such a great decade to set a GTA in. It works not only for San Francisco but for Las Vegas as well because of the mob. So if they aren't setting the next game in Vice City it better be the 70s in San Francisco and Las Venturas. A nice mix of a new cultural emergence in SF combined with a grittier crime story in LV.

I'd choose either 1970s Las Venturas/San Fierro or 1980s/1990s Liberty City over Vice City any day of the week.

No "strong female character" 3/10

GTA V will be immediately bombarded with average reviews if it released today.

Yes, but the status of ''hippies, lgbt, counterculture, drug addicts mecca'' overshadows its history with crime. It doesn't have anything particularly interesting and complex in that regard, unlike The Mob in Vegas and NY, cartels in Miami or gang wars in LA. Oakland is crazy, has always been, but it's black-on-black crime that's prevalent there, so nothing too original. SF does have tons of interesting things, but not enough for being the major city in GTA VI. Again, the 70's Vegas with the rise of the mob along with SF with the rise of its counterculture and drugs could be a beautiful combination.

I partially agree with you because I think Rockstar can make it work. Racial tensions, Drugs, Prostitution could easily fuel the plot although crime history in SF is not as mythologized as the Italian American Crime families in NY, Chicago or the Drug Scene in Miami.

The only reason I'm skeptical about Vegas being in GTA6 is that Mafia 4 rumor of it being set in 70s Vegas. (Was it debuked? I don't know.) Rockstar had to change New Bordeaux to Saint Denis mid development for Mafia 3, and in that case both renditions  of New Orleans were about 70years apart. Take Two would intervene if both companies started doing similar things.

At the end of the day Vice City is most likely to be the main location.

Never gonna happen. There's some things which are too big to fail. Cyberpunk is a perfect example against what you are stating which will most definitely get 90+ score in MC and sale a ton of copies.

GTAV already got criticism for not having a female protagonist despite having 3 protagonists and prominent female character back in 2013. We're seeing same things in Hollywood too with people criticizing Tarantino, Scorsese for not having more dialogue for female characters in their movies and they're still getting glowing reviews and success.

I have the same concern too. I think 70s period fits better to Mafia franchise than GTA.
