Not everything PS5-related is GTA V. Don't forget the great PlayStation exclusives.

Of course, but it’s a bit ridiculous to see a PS3-era game in a PS5 commercial...

Why do we need GTA VI? Maybe because GTA is the most celebrated franchise (not only in video games) in the world? Maybe because it is the most prolific of the entire business? Maybe because it is a cultural statement?

Actually we need vi bc v is about to collapse. Getting hardly 15fps optimization out of the window what is render anymore? Traffic more like bricks that skate. Too many codes bashing each other creating trail of bugs. Community that acts like blackwater contractors. R* getting lazy with their desing and dumbing it down bc game not allows (like tow truck that cant tows)

Why did we need RDR2, when they can continue milking GTA V like a f*****g cow?

GTA and Red Dead have a different audience base that don't overlap or cannibalise each other

At the end of the day, despite the scouting leaks, the "specialists" confirming that VI is in development and some hidden files, all we have is a game from 2013, with mechanics from 2013, aesthetically retouched in 2014 and full of sociopathic kids with flying motorcycles, and what's on the way is more of the same. (All this without being able to get it out in the estimated time frame, and with archaic trailers...embarrassing)

Who cares about popularity data and everything they've earned? They have become the kind of company they made fun of, their new trailers have more dislikes than likes, they have become victims of memes and they are catching up with companies like EA, abusing consumers, limiting themselves to repeat a very worn formula that is profitable and completely forgeting another game that also has a large fanbase but does not generate as much

They'll discontinue PS4/Xbone GTAO in say 2022, in favor of the E&E version which will be much better technically.

What you're saying is precisely why they're remastering it again. That and VI being atleast 2-3 years away and GTAO is still one of the most popular games on the planet.

Better but it will still be game made with 2005 hardware in mind.

The people producing the game care. If you are a T2 shareholder, you care. The market heavily favors GTAO, it's been proven for years. Memes, dislikes don't make a dent in the sales numbers. We simply can't do anything.

And that trailer wouldn't have gotten so many dislikes of it wasn't a amalgamation of past trailers even from PS3 era.

That really doesn't matter for GTAO.

there a company they aim is to make money as a good company should.

people need to take off rose tinted  glasses and slate rockstar for making money every company does it .

the gta series is going this longer because it makes money  if it didnt they would not make anymore.

Well, let's see if shareholders and producers begin to realize that Rockstar's opinion of many people has gone from "This game should be GOTY, amazing, they are magicians" to "Are they going to release it again?"
Just as before it was a company that excited gamers, now the first thing you do when a new movement is rumored by them is to think poorly.

Unless a title significantly underperforms not a single shareholder would bat an eye. Virtual awards mean absolutely nothing to any company. And whatever happens Rockstar's games will always be technically peerless.

The many people you're saying is practically less than 1% of Rockstar's entire fanbase. As soon as VI is announced they'll be back in the fold again and after VI's launch they'll bitch about VII, RDR3, Bully 2 or whatever again. That's just how online communities act.

It might be a cheap evidence but in IGNs user choice poll for game of the decade (a poll with total 927,00 votes) and it was GTAV who topped the poll with RDR2 in 5th place. Rockstar's reputation to wider audience is still intact and it's a fact.

Marlboro
Companies and sagas that were very successful and generated a lot of money in their time ended up falling into mediocrity and the oblivion of a large part of their fanbase for abusing practices that were very profitable at first, it's another facet of capitalism and it's what i'm trying to explain

Whether you like gta 5 or rdr2 you’re not going to lie here and say they are mediocre game. Gta 5 didn’t sell a 140 million copies being mediocre obviously people find it good to buy it 2 or 3 times

I mean, I get your point but that's a weird example. Marlboro's more an example of how a company can do horrible things to their customers and still remain at the top of their particular market for decades.

Shareholders and T2 understand that the R* brand will diminish if they don't announce a game soon.  Yes, people (myself included) are still playing GTA V and it's only been a couple of years since RDR 2 came out.  Still, both companies have people in important positions who understand the gaming market and the business aspects of game development much better than anyone in this forum, so there's no need to worry.

Stockholders really don't see it that way. Most of them are institutional investors, the big banks and investment funds. Just listen to the people who ask questions during T2 Earnings Calls, where do they work and what are they thinking? Mostly they want to know about the bottom line - how much was made and what is the general direction of travel, that's all. They are not on that call as fans of GTA, most of those financial analysts aren't paid to think about why GTA5 is successful, so long as it is and remains so.

The market demand for GTA5 and Online remains outrageously strong, whether we like it or not. It's super rare that astronomical numbers of people want to play and pay into a game that came out so long ago. So it's not going to go away, even if it's becoming outdated and rapidly turning into a retro gaming brand, it's still a must-do for plenty of new gamers.

From the stockholder perspective, unless interest in Five suddenly dies out then you're not going to want to see an abrupt move away from Five (and Online) to a new Six. If that happened then Six would be competing against Five. Better to grow the player base as wide as possible first, and every year brings in new players, then launch Six only when the golden goose of Five starts to have trouble laying new golden eggs.

A new AAA game like Six is a massive, massive risk set against almost impossible expectations. I think we can be confident that Rockstar won't make a Cyberpunk-level mistake, but as a tradeoff and to hedge against the expectations that were set from Five Online we're almost certainly going to see a series-episode type of release for Six, each with online gameplay, rather than a single full new cinematic game - regardless of what they tell you right now.

A remaster/rework of earlier GTA versions sells more time too.

GTA is making a billion dollars every year

People are STILL playing GTA 5

Take two: "So why do we need a GTA 6?"

Drama queens like you don't realise that Rdr2 took 8 years to develop and the every Rockstar studio in the world had to crunch.

And also rdr2 released in 2018. It's still a new game. We have to wait until 2023/24 to play GTA 6 imo.

2 of those 8 years were pre planning, 4-5years were actual development, and the rest was post production work. Keep digging for excuses for Rockstar tho. GTAVI left the planning board YEARS ago (2015-2017) and has been in active development for years. Theres no reason why we shouldnt already have an announcement and I believe we're getting one this year.

Yea i agree that it must have been in development for few years. I thought we would get announcement last year but covid-19 messed up the plans. I believe we will get announcement this year.
