Lol the difference in quality between my lame ass explanation and yours.

It's like doing a math equation: Show your working out. I find it helps people understand if you explain and detail it clearly.

But hey, I can still be wrong. COVID-19 really f*cked with the industry, getting WFH setup and working properly.

i might be wrong but i think the sole reason or main reason people are desperate for 6 because its generally accepted it will be in vice city.

you ask most gta fans probably 7 times out of 10 they will say ther fav is vice city add to  the fact its been 2 decades since we saw vice city.

i would put vice city fourth in my list and  unpopular i know but i think gta 4  five and san andreas are better games.

saying that vice city is a good game and i am desperate to see vice city and florida in hd,

Being honest i wouldn't care if it was vice city or liberty city again, i just want a new gta game, i liked gta v but truth be told having this game for this many years exposed a lot of it shortcomings to me like the meh story and bad economy, so i'm hoping for new experience in both single player and online

Hey,even if game wouldn't be perfect,we'll still enjoy it,look at Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord,it took 10 years for them to release it and it's nowhere near as 10 year developed game, but people enjoyed it,despite waiting for 10 years for a new game.I get Rockstar and TaleWorlds Entertainment are nowhere near, every company can suffer from not delivering 10 years of expectations. But we'll enjoy it nonetheless.

It is but it's not their only project and they need basically the whole world to have PS5s/Series Xs.

Lmao? More like CMEO (cry my eyes out).

Said it before and I'll say it again, GTA risks irrelevance as a franchise if it releases 11-12 years after V.

Maybe

If it does release 11-12 years after V Take Two is going to pull out all the stops to get it out there and makes sure it stays in peoples heads. They're going to start paying journalists to make a bunch of GTA related articles, make celebrities play it, and try to get as much positive attention for it as they can with a huge marketing budget. The problem is it might not grab the attention of a new generation of gamers who might play it for a bit then drop it and move on to fortnite or whatever other new popular game is around there's always a large amount of older fans but as time goes on we're gonna have less and less time to play these games.

Exactly. Don't get me wrong, I'm just frustrated and throwing my toys out of the pram a bit with my comments on it becoming irrelevant. But as you said. The older generation will get married, have mortgages, have kids etc and will have less time to play. Much of the older regeneration already feels disappointed with the HD era but hopes for some magic to return. Meanwhile the younger generation may fail to latch on to GTA as the older did and it just gradually fades away. That would take some time of course, but you see what I mean.

GTA games every 10 years and consistent modern settings will make the franchise go stale, in my opinion.

It won't make the franchise go stale, it will make the franchise disappear, to be honest.

Grand Theft Auto VII might be cool in 2038, and Grand Theft Auto VIII is going to rule in 2052, but let's be honest - at this point these installments could be totally separate games.

I don't know if the franchise will die because of it, the following of GTA now is gargantuan and the amount of money they pour into marketing, I just don't see the franchise going tanking. For sure it will go stale, it already is stale if you ask me. But we have to be honest in that no other company has really released an open world since 2013 that can do what GTA V did. I'd usually agree with you but GTA V is an anomaly and is allowing them to remain relevant whilst working on the next GTA for a very long time. Sales were insane last year for GTA V and still loads of people playing Online. The franchise is still one of the most relevant in gaming, even if it does feel stale.

The younger gamers are all about Online and to them GTA hasn't been sat dormant for almost ten years like it has for me and you because they are marketed 'super fresh' update twice a year. I hate it so much, but GTA to them is very different to how it is for us. So it's almost as if the flavour of GTA is dying, as a new one emerges for the newer generation. If that makes sense. But in terms of sales, I don't think a ten year hiatus from a mainline release will have any impact on it selling. If GTAO wasn't huge then it would be an entirely different story and we'd probably already have GTA VI. It certainly won't sell like GTA V has, but I think everyone is aware and prepared for that. I can imagine it breaking the records at launch, but that's about it.

But yeah, Rockstar have to be careful not to lose the likes of me and you who aren't interested in what GTA Online has been offering, those gamers who were there from the beginning. Because we are the gamers who appreciate the deeper level things that they work so hard to achieve, their evolution of storytelling. Sounds funny but RDR2 almost felt like an apology to us. All those young gamers threw that game under the bus within a year because it wasn't exciting them at a fast enough pace with updates. Sad. So yeah in summary, the franchise might be dead for us, but certainly won't be dead financially and to the market.

Well said. Sadly I think you are 100% right. It's more the fear of the franchise dying for me, rather than as a whole. I guess I have to admit that to myself. Its just evolving into something different, even if its something don't like.

@Americana I know exactly what you mean. I think some on here (I don't mean you darkdayz) fail to grasp just how long ten year gaps are in one's life. If GTA releases in 2023, I will be approaching my mid-30s... should VII come in 2033, mid-40s... you see the story here. Even fans much younger than me, take ZackCox (the Youtuber) who I think is in his early 20s, would be in his mid-30s by the time VII came out. Ten year gaps are an enormous amount of time between instalments.

Do you guys think they will expand the map in GTA V E&E for SP?

I would imagine they will probably just make the online area's (Cayo) accessible on the map without a load because of the new hardware capabilities. Will probably use it as a way to test how the seperate islands will work in GTA VI, if that rumour is true.

Yeah it's sad. But the way I look at it at least we aren't left empty handed. RDR2 is my favourite game they have ever made, so as long as they keep that franchise grounded I will have not lost all hope.

In my opinion, there are some new open world games, which are just as great, and even better when it comes to certain aspects.

Certain aspects don't make a whole experience. This is the issue and goes back to what I said. There is no open world game on the market that offers as complete of an experience as GTA V did. It's a long way down my list of favourite GTA's, but I've got to be honest.

What experience?

Everything Grand Theft Auto V introduced (not much, to be honest) has been already done in every single open world game.

An experience is an impression something leaves on you because of what it has to offer as a whole package.

People are desperate for 6 because single player mode in GTA V is seriously lacking content and because almost seven and half years passed since we got GTA V. Maybe it would be at least a little bit different if GTA V would got at some point promised story DLCs, maybe.

Before all of this VI talk people were desperate for V SP DLC that never happened.

I think, A good way to overcome the incredibly long wait for fans(10 years), Is to make a relatively moderate sized GTA every 6 years or so, With another game in-between, meaning that the gap between main Rockstar titles would be 3 years instead of 5. That means no crazy details, like horseballs in RDR2, etc, I can't see a better way for them to make great games within 8 years atleast. Again, details like that are what makes Rockstar how they are too. It's sad that we have to wait 10+ years and pass time waiting to play a damn game which is an entertainment product made to pass time lmao.

Lmao. Made me laugh that. We'd have to start calling them Trollstar if that happened.

As @RighteousMind369 said, pandemic enforced delay or not, announce it in October. Come on fellas and fellettes - put us out of our bloody misery.

Tony here is every GTA fan. Head bopping along, GTA VI on the way, then once again hear "Why did I move here?" in October 2021, but the trailer buffers. Imagine: "Why did I? Why did I? Why did I? Why did I? Why did I?":
