I just played some GTA SA and it's amazing how much there is to do, even some things I've completely forgotten.

 

I hope VI has some of those features again. I hope VI is the "ultimate GTA", featuring everything we had in past GTAs and also feature them in online.

 

What do you guys think? Have they learned from the nothingness that is GTA V's free roam?

Eh, it would be Grand Theft Auto V all over again. Rockstar should either create a realistic Grand Theft Auto game and focus on realistic aspects of the game, or an arcade one where they add whatever they want.

 

I don't want another mixture of realism and arcade, because it makes the game bland as hell.

Yeah, one of the coolest things about GTA SA is that no side mission appears on the map. You simply find the missions by exploring the map, like the cocaine delivery mission, or the pizza delivery mission. This is a cool thing that I hope will return in GTA VI. Obviously I would also really like to see the return of the police, taxi, ambulance, firefighter missions. In fact, the taxi missions in Mafia Definitive Edition are the best example of how to start these missions. Just get in a taxi and people will automatically appear on the streets calling for a taxi. I hope these have in GTA VI

It's understandable, some players are younger than others and naturally wouldn't know. GTA III was a looooong time ago now. Best thing to do with that is not go around like the 'leaker' proclaiming to be the fountain of all Rockstar knowledge, when he doesn't even know how many GTA's they have made.

Like I've already stated, yes I'm sure he's just making BS up. But he's not technically wrong. The next GTA will be the sixth GTA, regardless if it's called GTA VI or GTA: Subtitle. I think we're all arguing a point that is completely irrelevant. GTA IV wasn't the fourth GTA, yet it was called GTA IV. Same for V. Same will be for VI. even if it's called GTA VI, it won't actually be the sixth game. But it is considered the sixth game.

 

It's just one of those things. If you're going to attempt to debunk someone, I wouldn't consider that grounds to debunk them, or claim they don't know how many GTA games there have been.

I don't really want this discussion but I will humour you my friend. If you want to dive deep into illogical numeric arguments then you have to assume that they started the roman numeral system at GTA III in a way to 'solidify' significant mainline titles, probably to account for DLC releases or smaller games in between mainline games that are released with numerals assigned (III,IV,V)

 

If you continue following that logic, then how can a game that he states is not releasing as 'GTA 6' be considered the sixth GTA, surely the game that follows with roman numerals would be considered the sixth?

 

Basically there is no way it can be considered the sixth game unless it is labelled so, adhering to their numerical chronology, which he said it won't be.

That only happens if and when a game called GTA VI releases after. It's a long time ago, now. And the games released so close together that there wasn't a lot of time for it to become consensus (and the internet wasn't as big/popular as it is today). But Vice City was considered GTA 4, and San Andreas was considered GTA 5.

 

Look, the overall point being is that GTA V is considered the fifth GTA game, even though it isn't. If the next game that releases uses a subtitle, people won't call it GTA 8, for the simple fact that 6 comes after 5. If you called it GTA 8, then were was GTA 6 or 7?

And is it even GTA 8? Which games do you count? Do you count the London mission packs as games, or expansions? Do you count the Stories games? Do you count GTA Advance?

 

Regardless of what the next GTA is called, it's the sixth instalment of the mainline GTA series. Vice City & San Andreas sort of get a pass, because they weren't major overhauls, like IV or V. And also because Rockstar just chose to title them, that way.

 

It's just a bit of a dodgy grey area. There's no real perfect answer, without any contradiction. There is just the reality of the situation. Even if it doesn't quite make perfect sense.

But there is a perfect answer. According to the chronology by your own logic, if the next game is not called GTA VI, that means it is not considered the sixth mainline title. And as I've said, the ONLY way that the game could ever be considered as the sixth GTA title, is if it is called GTA VI, which your guy say's it isn't. So he's fundamentally wrong however you interpret the tweet.

Look up some articles from the early 2000s just before Vice city released. A lot of journalists mentioned it as GTA 4.

But that was different time were GTA 1, 2 and 3 were the main games.

 

Both Vice City and San Andreas made everyone think that they wouldn't go back to the roman numerals anymore.

one the story is finished two other then la noire and max payne 3 its been 13 years of nothing but red dead and gta at this point . 

bully 2 la noire 2 hopefully would be one of or both the next tittle after 6

They could make a new cowboy game that´s set in the golden days of the wild west instead of its dying days. The Red Dead: Redemption storyline is basically complete and the only thing that they could do is make a prequel that ends with the Blackwater massacre (which would be lame because the massacre is intriguing to think about because the player has no idea how it REALLY went, adding a lot to the story overall). 

 

So basically, no Dutch, no Blackwater, no Strawberry, no John and no Arthur. Maybe it could be set in California or Arizona/Nevada to get that true ¨spaghetti western set in the middle of the desert" feeling. Would certainly be interesting imo. Much more than a prequel or a LA Noire type game, but maybe thats my love for RDR2 talking

Here's the thing though both RDR and RDR2 explored the death of the wild west when the west was ending. I want to see the wild west at it's peak in the 1870s-1880s. But please no more of the Van Der Linde gang I've had enough of them for two games.
