Says the guy who claims Assassin's Creed as a GTA killer okay man.

This is what the companies that work in an open world game look for, if you have a limited mind to make comparisons and can't understand a joke it's not my fault

Nah, GTA remains stronger than ever, GTA VI will have a great single player and a renewal of online mode, we can see the problems in GTAO but for the target audience it is a great platform

I'm confident if GTA Online wasn't a success,we would have GTA VI slightly bigger than GTA V and trailer of VII by now.

So Days gone is a GTA killer then? How about Horizon Zero dawn? Metal Gear solid V? They're all open world games but here's the thing they aren't trying to be GTA.

I prefer to wait and have something better, you talk like the 3000 employees are all working on GTAO lol

Damn, imagine that. A game can have a different focus and scale than GTA and still be a good open world game.

That seems to be a problem for some people. Some guys want a game to be the "best" and if it isn't they start hating it. Why can't there be like a middle market? Not everything has to "beat" the other games.

GTA killer, GTA clones stopped being a focus of other companies after the PS2 era ended. Saint's Row tried but morphed itself into something distinct than GTA. Watch Dogs tried but failed miserably. Cyberpunk was very badly marketed as a GTA alike although they're not very similar products at all and it has it's own problems.

Ever wonder how many AAA city based open world world crime games we've got this gen. If I am correct it's only 3-4 games (WD2, Legion, Mafia 3 and Cyberpunk) and GTAV sold more than all of them combined. Now compare that to PS2 era when GTA clones were everywhere. At this point no company will ever try to directly challenge GTA simply because of it's brand value. It's the same story with Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, FIFA etc. You simply can't beat them unless something miraculous happens.

Yeah, not every game needs to be a masterpiece with 15 years of development time. I'm fine with a game that is just good and I get a new entry in the franchise every 2-3 years. And not every game needs to do everything. Watch Dogs doesn't need planes and helicopters because it's not necessary for the kind of game it is.

Of course they are, every game wants to have the success of a GTA, basically they are all from the same line of games, even a game outside this line wants to be a GTA, many games of different genres are inspired by it, it's up to you to learn to analyze the industry as a whole and look for similarities.
You saying that GTA doesn't influence games is like saying that MCU and Neflix didn't influence movies.
I recommend you to look for a game design college to learn more about it.

That's why Watch Dogs will never be on the same level as a GTA😉

Longer development time doesn't always mean better product, take a look at Duke Nukem:Forever for example.

If you know how to use that time it makes a HUGE difference, compare RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077

I enjoy Watch Dogs 2 Singleplayer a lot more than V because I actually have interesting things to do and find in an incredibly immersive and interactive city, rather than the cardboard stage dressing that is Los Santos. Also gonna make a quick prediction: you're gonna sh*t on WD2 despite never having played or having played about 30 minutes of it.

True but Days Gone, HZD are basically Ubisoft open worlds with their own twists and Sony polish.

And Hideo Kojima himself became "depressed" :kekw: when he saw GTAV and said that his V probablywon't be good enough. I'm still disappointed on MGSV could've been with full development.

At this point the publishers know that going head to head with GTA would be like standing in front of a canon so they're instead trying to do stuff differently but the core game design in most open world games is still Ubisoft design which I don't really like.

You do know that development on Cyberpunk 2077 started in 2016 just after the last Witcher 3 DLC released right?

Full development started in 2016, but the game was already in development before the first trailer, they were already working on the concepts, scripts, engine

Do you think 100% of the employees were working on TW3 and DLCs? And the employees who finished their jobs stood there looking at the wall doing nothing?

After Cyberpunk 2077, I find it funny how the comment sections of literally every game trailers in Youtube are filled with traumatized fans.
