... and the reason is simple. Removing the minimap, removes the "accessibility" of the game. Leaving it, only makes angry some old farts.

if that patent thing was legit , then we will have to play gta VI (singleplayer) with internet , so what about a companion app like gta v and rdr2 as a radar / map for mobile devices?

if Gta VI really requires an internet connection to play , than the crack versions will go brrr (it will require a mod i guess) , hopefully Gta VI will not be drm free , even if it's cracked after many years it won't accessible bcz you can't go online with crack versions i guess

Unless they do actually use that patented technology that processes AI externally. But I'm guessing that's gonna be an optional feature, like something in the options menu saying "Advanced AI [Requires Internet Connection]" and if you don't have internet it just defaults to regular AI.

That's for Online not SP

And you know that how? The entire point of that technology was that AI requires a f*ckton of CPU power. Seriously, boot up AC Origins and check the difference in performance in Alexandria and the desert. All because all of the NPCs have a unique AI with a daily routine. So the idea is to process AI externally, allowing for far more advanced and complex AI. Of course this is also good for Online, because you could have dense traffic and pedestrians all over the map and not just about 5 cars in all of LS.

From what I understood from the patent, this AI is some kind of machine learning, so I'm guessing it's using data from Online users in order to replicate it through NPCs.
For example, the way you enter a store and make room for other players, the way you avoid collisions while running, all these movements can be replicated by ML from my understanding.

Have you ever played RDR2? The game's AI is great and on a console that has less than half the processing of current consoles, they don't need cloud processing to make something good, even if it's a big game it won't be something that needs cloud processing like Flight Simulator that needs to process the entire planet.
Comparing R* games to Assassin's Creed lol

Yeah it does featuring npc daily routines, players can use their eagles to observe npcs and the system would give a brief text describe what npcs are doing lol. What's more, some of its stealth style mission design is based on this for you to take advantages to kill targets.I gotta admit it is very inpressive, too bad when coming down to odysey and valhalla these stuff are almost non-exist again.

I remember when we were so hyped for a Grand Theft Auto V cover, some of us waited here and watched the live coverage.... and now I don't even remember how this game's cover look like.

You do realize how few NPCs there are in RDR2 compared to something like GTA, right? Seems to me like you don't really understand all that much about how AI, processing and game development works. Try running a couple hundred NPCs with unique routines and complex, dynamic interactions with the world on a Ryzen 5 2600 or something and you'll see what I mean.

Because on the surface it'll just seem like generic NPC behaviour anyway, which is why it was dropped. But each NPC in a city did have their own unuqiue routine. Go to sleep, work, relax etc. You just wouldn't notice it really unless you followed them around.

I hope they implement a navigation / GPS route system like Watchdogs so you don't need to look at the map or radar constantly to drive to your destination. What do you guys think?

Yeah, this navigation is the first think I've disabled in Watch Dogs 1 and 2, oh and Far Cry 5.

Tommy "Nightmare" Smith

Yeah I really wouldn't like a navigation sistem like watch dogs. If I needed help navigating I'd rather have something like the old rally games, on the top of the screen.

By the way I don't know about you but I usually don't need the map after 2 months because I can memorize the map, or just enough reference point to navigate it without help.

Do you want a game set in the wild west to have the same number of people as a game in a modern city? lol
There are not hundreds of npcs at the same time, not even in a GTA, the routine and dialogue system is completely prefabricated, it’s not that complex.

Finally someone with a brain
They may be using this in the current GTA ONLINE to try to reproduce the player's behavior in the next version using bots to populate the lobby

Yes, definitely.

That's right out my brain.

I use Zbrush like a genie so this is glorious.

GTA VI should use a similar system in which we never see the same 2 NPCs, unless they are clones, twins, stunt doubles, pr0no parodying, etc.

Don't even compare Ubisoft to Rockstar. Ubisoft doesn't give a f*ck about optimization and technical side of their games. Rockstar on the other hand pushes consoles to their absolute limits.

Oh f*ck off with that elitist bullsh*t. My only point here was that AC Origins had a sh*t ton of unique individual AIs, which absolutely tanks performance, no matter who makes the damn game because that's what AI does. You Rockstar fanboys really just jizz in your pants everytime you get the opportunity to say "Ubi bad"

Yes, it is but I would like to see how many such detailed characters PS5/X1 would be actually able to display while keeping at least 30 FPS.

Too bad there will be most likely some kind of license for Unreal Engine use only...

Hopefully there'll be some kind of (cheap) way to use the models in other engines

Well, Ubi is bad, they find a formula that "sells" and they change the skin every two years, their level of innovation between games is more similar to games like Fifa / Pes than that of other companies

It's also true that I would prefer that Rockstar try to release more games (1-2 GTAs per generation) and not abuse the online as they do

I don't like Ubisoft for mediocrity, customer-punishing anti-pirate measures and too generic feel of their games paired with RPG elements. Tried couple of AC titles and finishing by refunding them, absolutely dead stuff for me.
