This is any violent city no matter the decade lol

Jesus Christ, some of you people are obsessed with 80's Miami.

What are you talking about ? Miami in the 1980s was one of the most dangerous cities on earth , at one point the number of bodies that were found daily were too much and they had to hire food delivery trucks to keep the bodies cold when found. Documentaries and Movies were made about Miami in the 80s. It was documented that some cocaine is probably still buried to this very day because people used to dig and hide it . Now days Los Angeles is more dangerous than Miami but there is no way that it was the case in the 80s.

One thing I really admire about Rockstar is how they constantly challenge themselves as a company. They always want to try and take things to the next level. They don't HAVE to keep doing that since their games are already ahead of everything else coming out these days (See CP2077 as an example of a modern-day open-world failure) yet they still do it. There is so much passion, hard work and dedication behind their games that you cannot help but have tons of respect for them.

With that said, I have a great feeling about the next big GTA game. We just have to be patient and let them take their time. It bothers me when I open their tweets and constantly see a bunch of kids whining about "Where's GTA 6" and being overall immature. Just live your life and let them do their thing. It'll come eventually.

Tbh out of all the merits RDR2 has, the AI is not one of them imo. It's just... average. I don't consider things like the NPCs having a routine AI, because that's basically just a developer giving the NPCs a script, go to A to B in x time and perform y action. It's cool, very cool, but it's not really "intelligence"

9 hours ago, Kris194 said:

Rockstar already said, that they overhauled their AI system properly for the first time in 17 years. I think, that what we saw in RDRII was only a teaser of its capabilities.

oh the AI in RDR2 really is impressive.

there are so many things it can.

like iirc i saw lines for smelling, hearing, vision, even breath rate and heart rate.

peds can remember you, there are different entire personalities.

like lazy dog, guard dog, livestock,  friendly cat etc.

there is so much that is configurable.

so yeah.

the AI system really was overhauled

there are many more AI related files than in V

I'd prefer New York City in 1970's or 1980's. I'd say that Grand Theft Auto series is like Far Cry when it comes to that aspect - all you have to do is choose the location and everything else revolves around it.

Miami? Drugs. New York City? Mafia. Los Angeles? Gangs.

Well, except Grand Theft Auto V, but we all know that the story sucked wasn't the best.

1970s LC would be awesome this makes me think of North Holland in GTA IV if it were in the 70s.

Only problem is we've seen Liberty City too many times but I wouldn't mind a game set in 1970s Liberty City at some point. If they don't that would be stupid the 70s was when New York was having one of it's most interesting periods.

I agree! I can't wait to see what's next in the years ahead. I have no doubt Rockstar will deliver exceptionally well with the next game. R* just released RDR2 a few years ago that blew minds, yet people are still discovering little details till this day and delivered the most stunning open world map that felt very alive and its incredible story writing (I could ramble for hours about how good that is!). Don't me wrong, I'm quite glad GTA 5 is getting another release, it will buy Rockstar further development time so the more time they have = the better, the bigger game we have in the coming years. I think patience is key here. The wait will be worth it IMHO.

Plus Take-Two continues to make millions of GTA Online so there's no need to announce the next GTA game for least awhile. As long as investors are happy they have no reason to worry about anything.

The last time Take Two gave a studio a whole lot of time we ended up with this mess

That game was in development for like 15 YEARS!!!! and ended up being a flop.

True, apart from early 1990's I don't associate Los Angeles with anything more than suburbs, Hollywood, and smog.

What about this for the next GTA:

Prologue 1970 LC linear Broker/Alqonquin (couple missions) just like North Yankton

Half of the Game  in the year 1980 VC & South America. Got in prison somewhere in the middle of the game

Last part of the game in the year 2010/2013 timeline VC & South America. You see the time change as for example Mafia 2 story from 40s to 50s

& GTAIV & GTAV maps will be DLC/Update on the Standalone GTAOnline version from VI. Maybe even expanding South America with couple small island in the far future ofcourse

Just to picture the idea from The Godfather 2 game has a system you can fly from NY to Miami & Cuba at the Airport.

..

That will be awesome.

About the reasson why the timeline are VC in 2010/2013. So they dont have to change more on the old maps for Upcoming DLC's

So your GTAOnline timeframe is 2013+ around all the maps.

(Dont take this message to serious, most of it is a wishlist)

If story/part of story is set in modern times then I want it to be set in current decade, not beginning of last decade. I want to see new stuff, that appeared on a market in a last few years.

My problem is that the protagonist would be like super old by then and I don't want to play as an old man.

I don't really get why you would want 2010/2013, why not just 2020s - there really isn't that much difference also we could have modern cars and technology.

It's when LeBron James went to Miami. The protagonist while old as hell gives up crime, tries out for the NBA, and decides to play basketball with LeBron.

My issue is how "un-open world" these sequences are and how much it sucks you can't roam freely in these locations whenever you want, especially if they seem interesting. In GTA 5 I start playing in this cool snowy town called North Yankton, thinking it's just part of the larger map and I'll be soon able to roam freely there, only to be forever disappointed... I know I would PISSED after starting to play GTA 6 thinking it's set in 70's LC and then finding out it's just a prologue :sui:

I'm okay having some "linear map" if it's set outside the USA, just because I would like to see R* doing some GTA "thing" set outside the USA and I would never expect them to do full non-USA maps for GTA. (Cuban or maybe even London prologue)

Not if we get a different character in the epilogue, a la RDR.
