It does mention the project is "HUGE", and yeah the pandemic obviously would have delayed it, but by "In 2021" does he mean Announcement or release? Because if it was planned to be released in 2021, then we would have gotten an announcement in 2020 but it could have been delayed to 2022 release so we could see an announcement this year?

Tbh I see a reveal happening in October - November, with a 2022 release date, with a delay to 2023.

Yeah. From my understanding, and I may be wrong (If anyone wishes to enlighten me, please do) GTA VI may have been delayed multiple times internally. Either through work being scrapped, bugs or QA issues. Maybe next-gen hardware changed plans. I'm not sure. But a 2021 date, back in early - mid 2019 can easily change.

IF REAL it’s less hiring but more contractual.  Hard to know his actual job specifics, this sounds more legit to most cause it seems like he knows less than many fake leakers claim to. I.e his info is boring info.

I know RDR1 did. I don't recall any bad stories about RDR2. Other than a lengthy development.

iirc, the reddeadleaker on reddit had claimed that the game did go through it because the higher ups weren't satisfied with the game at that point.

The leak that turned out to be legit said RDR2 went through development hell when the higher ups at Rockstar weren't satisfied with RDR2's vertical slice demo.

Well yeah, but that isn't really hell. RDR1 literally had Sam Houser begging Leslie Benzies to help him with RDR1 8 months before it released. Likely why it was delayed from March 2010.

The question is. when Sam wrote this to Benzies? Sam saw that "GTA ONLINE credit fiasco" and the beef began... Why should sam write him afterwards?

 

Benzies took sabbatical leave from Rockstar on 1 September 2014. In January 2016 it was announced that he had left the company.^[6] On 12 April 2016, Leslie Benzies started legal action against Rockstar Games and its parent Take-Two Interactive claiming $150 million in unpaid royalties.

I think that mail was waaay at the beginning when they changed from GTA to RDR and began full development

Yep, Even The Know leak mentioned the released is slated for 2021/2022, So I think it was originally planned for 2021 release with a 2020 announcement but delayed due to Covid-19.
