Good point. However, I've never been emailed by Rockstar, asking if I'd like to work with them, to really say if it's legit or not

I don't know if it's my eyes, but it looks like it's a different font/bold

I've seen this in numerous scam emails where it has weird things bolded/different fonts.

Maybe, since it says "Upcoming projects in 2021", GTA VI was supposed to come out in 2021(and to be announced in 2020) but delayed to 2022 now due to Covid-19 and will be announced in 2021? 

 

Sounds a little crazy but there was a very small possibility of an announcement last year.

Nah, that part is legit. If you wanted to fake it, you'd just use a fake email and put that as the subject. I've checked my Gmail app, and it looks the same. Only difference being the screen size. Plus Twitter lowers the quality of images posted. And text often gets lots of artifacting or odd looking effects around it.

Since the email cant be from 20/21 (like the posters above me stated Richard Barnes no longer works at Rockstar) it makes me think that they didn't sign him in the end.

I laughed with this, I just remembered GTAO in it´s first days with a lot of kids called RockstarDev, R*Official, GTARockstar, RockstarModerator, etc (nowadays that is forbidden thank god, and if someone has the great idea to try another way to claim them being R* bypassing the whitelist words they get banned so fast, it´s so funny to check the whitelist in the game files, I laughed a lot reading all the forbidden names)

Another possibility it’s just straight bullsh*t attention. It’s hard to know if he’s actually had sync placements. Not knowing the network there, unknowns can still get production credits. Has me curious tbh.

Looks like it has a photo, at least. So it's not just a quickly setup fake email. Looks like they went to the effort of blurring the photo, unless it was already blurred. Emails with photos on mine aren't blurred.

I wouldn't read into that at all. That kind of small detail, in the wording can be hyper analyzed, when it can just be the way he chose to word it. Besides, Rockstar do have multiple projects each year anyway.

I am. But I also know most fake leaks aren't very good at small details like those. Looking up the correct persons name who would reach out via email? People put effort into creating fake maps, plots, characters, etc. Just that one specific detail stood out to me.

It's possible to model that, but the accuracy, cost and the actual worth of the conclusions will be quite questionable. At least, I know that there are people who will do that for money, lol, but R* is not stupid enough to pay for that. The thing is the reality will make some corrections and there will be some infrastructural failures either caused by the release or absolutely independent. I believe, making the launch 99% issue-proof is close to impossible and really not worth the efforts. Next iteration of Online will be a long game and by the way it goes now, people will excuse R* for initial issues. Hell, even I can't blame them for 2013 and I'd rather be angry with them messing with the mission payouts in '14.

Honestly, I would say this for this year(not including the posibility of a GTA VI announcement that maybe could happen or maybe not this year), and please if they re-release RDR2 "expanded and enhanced" ffs add something for story mode as cut content to the new versions please R*, at least do that for story mode

Honestly, my guess is that it's probably legit. Most fakes usually try to be exciting. This really isn't. And it has odd details that just 'feel' too far for somebody to go.

Not really, tbh. If it's legit, then we know Rockstar are working on Music. The 2021 part would be pretty exciting, if we knew or a fact what the project was, and the world didn't have all its major events cancelled or delayed due to the pandemic.
