The only plot line I can see with human trafficking is our protagonist being in a cartel that human traffics and falling in love with one of the girls being trafficked. He decides to get out and stop the cartel from trafficking any more. I highly doubt R* would actually have the player participate in it.

You're very wrong if you think, that Sam doesn't like Miami Vice. He watched all 112 episodes many times.

I have a question for you all. Let's assume GTA VI will arrive in the autumn of 2022. What do you think the announcement date would be?

But Rockstar doesnt always announce games with atleast 1 year before, and then later delay? And now a delay is less likely because of the departure of Dan Houser, as the Schreier's article said? I dont think they announce games knowing they will take 2 years to launch

Best to presume it will happen. Don't end up disappointed.

So, should the GTA 6 advertisement process be 1 year or 1.5 years?

(RDR2 -> 1 year)

(GTAV -> 1.5 years)

I don't see why it'll be any different. Announce the game, say nothing for a year, A few screenshot batches within that year and perhaps at some point, maybe 5 or so months later a delay is announced. 12 months after announcement a preview wave & trailer 2 and launch window announced, few months later preview round 2, final release date announced, special & collectors editions announced, and a third trailer. The marketing campaign begins about 4 - 6 months before launch. Gameplay videos released about 2 months before launch and a launch trailer a week or two before launch.

Screenshot this, and remember it. Odds are it's be 90% correct.

They're really honing in on the current themes of American entropy, demise and collapse. So they've opted to set it in a dystopian Rust Belt city in the Midwest.
You start as some white trash protagonist on a rags to riches story, trying to break out of his quagmire and make it big and escape the sinking, rat infested ship that is Carcer City.
It's going to be the darkest Rockstar game ever made. Some of the content they're putting in I honestly can't even believe, like I don't know how the f*ck this is going to fly with censors but I assume massive bribes and kind of economic desperation following the lockdowns and Coronavirus will probably see many of them just buckle to pressure and allow it to be sold without censure.
Houser worked heavily on this before he left. Most of the writing and story is from him, the bleakness and entropy and fatalism of the game is a sort of mirror of his departure from gaming and the falling of many giants at Rockstar over the past several years.
Expect some of the grimmest sh*t you have ever experienced on the Internet, ramped up to 11.

Child pr0nography/pedophile rings, sexual exploitation/trafficking, modern slavery, racism, heroin/hard drug trade, extreme topdown corruption, serial killers, ultraviolent gangwars, bleakness and fatalism.
You know the way the Wire just kinda left you feeling like nothing will ever change in these kinds of regions and any kind of investment or policies are doomed to fail as people are utterly trapped in the cycle of the projects? Or the way True Detective just kind of beat whatever last vestiges of hope you had in humanity out of you?
Think all that kind of stuff, it's just the awful sides of humanity ramped up to 11 with absolutely no redeeming aspects in any parts of the game.

sh*t I forgot to mention cults. There are a few cults in the game and they're super messed up, a few are more comical but some are pretty f*cking bleak and disturbing.
One that really sticks in my mind is the Heaven's Gate inspired one. You go through like full inductions and initiations with them and in the end are tasked with assisting them in an eventual mass suicide which you can take part in (they used bags over their head just like in Heaven's Gate).
There's another pretty cool one based on that Japanese doomsday cult responsible for mass sarin poisonings as well.

This, I need this, do not get me wrong I would love a bit of Vice city but damn.

I agree with you. I bet it will be announced this spring. Silence for a year. The release date of the game will be announced in the spring of 2022, as Autumn 2022.
It will be postponed to the spring of 2023.

Yeah, no way it's announced this spring. October at the earliest. But even that's looking unlikely after the events of 2020 lol

The thing is I really want the game to be announced this year, but previous events have made me a little bit smarter when it comes to having expectations that's why in my mind I am prepared for another year of silence

BUT FOR GODS SAKE ROCKSTAR JUST ANNOUNCE THE DAMN THING

In your own time

Not really since GTA IV and V have completely different type of stories. Like only the satire in terms of radio/internet is a bit similiar. But another 80s Miami drug war game would feel very repetitive.

Here's the thing. VC hardly if ever touched on drugs that much. Aside from the opening scene in Vice City where Tommy gets robbed of the drugs. He doesn't touch drugs ever again unless it's the ice cream truck asset mission.

VCS had more drugs in the story but Vic was against drugs the entire game saying Drugs r bad then goes and sells drugs lmao.

The problem is that argument holds little water. They've only really done the 80's once. VCS was a smaller prequel, intended to tie into the same world and story. Whereas they've done modern day games multiple times, and each one had a different tone/feel. They can do the 80's again and it can be much different than a PS2 game from 20 years ago. Over 20 years by the time it releases.

It's fine not to like something, or not want it. But to say it's been done to death, or that they there's not much else they can do is kinda' absurd.

VI set in the 80s would still feel fresh just because Rockstar this time would include a much large area than Miami + quite possibly a part of South America as well, if we are to believe Project Americas. That alone would make the game feel nothing like the original VC. It wouldn't just be much larger map, but also substantially different.

It would be quite silly to expect the same concept of a game they made 20 years ago. If VC returns, it will be with a unique twist, and Project Americas sounds unique enough to justify coming back to VC.

I still believe that the main reason all of the people that are strongly against an 80's setting don't want it is because of how the hookers will look lmao.

Apart from Aids (not sure what that would add to a GTA game) I like your ideas.  The Iran Contra affair would fit since the series has had some focus on doing missions for the CIA/FIB for a few games now. But I still don't think its enough to go back to 80s Miami, I mean these things are not even connected to Miami in particular. I would be fine with another 80s city though (or even 70s, that would be more interesting)..

It would no longer most likely be the IAA and FIB conflict anymore.

instead if it's 80s Vice City or even just modern Vice City, it would most likely shift into IAA vs DOA (CIA vs DEA).

as stated many many times, GTA VI is rumored to be centered somewhat around Narcos.

In Narcos: Mexico, the CIA assisted the cartel and ordered the DEA to stop the on-going operation; creating conflict.

the DOA was barely used in GTA V and would be nice to see them have a huge role in the next installment.

AIDS would add more stuff in the background and to the world. Rockstar could parody a lot of jokes around it like closing pools because of AIDS, characters would have it or be suspected of having it, the radio personalities talking about it.

Iran Contra just take this and instead of Los Angeles It's 1980's Miami.

Imagine you pick up a hooker and then minutes later randomly die from AIDS.
