I found Gavin

I found Gavin, at least who he is a reference to, kind of.
There was a man named Gavin who would show up with Patrice Oneal on the Opie & Anthony show.
He knew Lazlow, who you all know worked with Rockstar in a DEEP way.
He fits the description of "a big bloke, cockney, Londoner".
After Nigel says to "find the black flower", I immediately thought of how Gavin is indeed black.
After Patrice Oneal died, Gavin was nowhere to be found... It's so sad...
I need help in this theory, because honestly, I think this is it.
Where is Gavin? Patrice is having his funeral and he hasn't been seen... GAVIN!?

I also know about Opie and Anthony and the many references to the show in GTA and RDR thanks to the show's friendship with Lazlow. However in this case I think it's just a coincidence tbh. Too long ago and too obscure, pretty sure Lazlow didn't know Patrice well and it's unlikely he knew or would remember his random friend. Gavin is just a common British name, and also the guy on O&A doesn't have a cockney/London accent (it's midlands/Birmingham). Plus the show is long dead and Lazlow doesn't have a connection with them anymore, I don't think he's done anything with anyone from the show since it ended. As far as I'm aware GTA V was the last game to have any connection or references to O&A, I don't think there's any trace of them in RDR2.

 

Btw did you know that RDR's Bonnie MacFarlane ISN'T named after the comic Bonnie MacFarlane (wife of Rich Vos/frequent O&A guest)? Lazlow mentioned during an appearance on O&A that he had nothing to do with it, someone else who worked on the game named her after some other woman he knew called that. I was surprised by this.

Yes, I know all of that, but I believe Gavin was present during an O & A show where Lazlow brought in some cool stuff.
You also have to remember how the game takes YEARS to make.
Something from 7 years ago is still in the game.
There are numerous inside references in the games that can't be explained until you dig at the source.
Lazlow knew Gavin.
He hasn't been seen since Patrice died.
There is no real reference to him aside of rare glimpses from old Foundry videos, thanks to the deceased Steve C.

Just the name alone isn't enough imo, it's just a common British name. The guy doesn't have the same accent and there's no other similarities. The O&A show ended in 2014 and like I said I'm pretty sure there's no references to it or voices from it in RDR2 (correct me if I'm wrong?). Even GTA V from 2013 only has Anthony (massive Rockstar fan) involved and only one random show reference that I've heard, rather than the whole show/lots of references. The Lazlow/O&A relationship was an earlier thing.

 

If we were talking about games that came from that time when Lazlow and O&A did stuff together and that have numerous other O&A references and voices in them (GTA IV and RDR1) I might consider it possible. But this is too much of a reach.

As I recall, Nigel mentioned he was a large man but very jolly and funny.
I also said that these games take years to make, it took many years to get Patrice on to a minor radio bit on GTAIV.
Anthony Cumia did a voice for Red Dead as well, are you uninformed?
The guys are involved on a deep level.
Cumia even has a song on GTAV.
I'm talking a 5 year at least time span, you think it's all instant?

Anthony Cumia did a voice in RDR1 not 2. The last thing he did with Rockstar was the Pisswasser song in GTA V - which itself contains pretty much no O&A references besides that (he's listed as doing the voice of Chef and said he voiced a character, but it very clearly isn't him doing that voice so I think they must've re-recorded it with another voice actor for whatever reason). There's no O&A voices or references in RDR2 that I'm aware of - big drop off from GTA IV with almost everyone from the show doing voices and countless references.

 

Like I said I know they had a good relationship when Lazlow had his show and they had theirs, and also just when they still had the O&A show and Lazlow would come in to promote new games. But it never seemed like they were close friends who hung out outside the show etc. I think even by the time of GTA V the relationship or whatever wasn't much of a thing any more (not because of any animosity, just because that's how things go) and Anthony probably only still did the song because he's the one who's obsessed with Rockstar games and is actually good at doing voices. Even pre-2013 that "everyone from the O&A show being in Rockstar games" thing was over, and seems like it well and truly was by the time of RDR2. Lazlow's never been on any show of Anthony, Opie or Jimmy's since O&A ended. 

 

If it was 2007 - 2011 I'd believe he'd put in as obscure a reference as that. By the time of RDR2, when the game contains no other O&A references or voices? Nah. With the accent thing I thought you were saying Gavin in the game was from London but I guess not. Gavin on the show wasn't from London though, he had a thick midlands accent.
