THE HALLOWEEN PASS BRINGS TRICKS AND TREATS ALIKE TO RED DEAD ONLINE (October 20th - November 16th)

In typical R* fashion the whole Halloween event is lazy as f*ck. 

 

I don't expect anything different from them nowadays, but I am seriously questioning myself as to why their games should be my daily go to entertainment.

 

I'll be there on day 1 for their single player offerings for as long as I'm gaming, but their online modes are bare bones, bare minimum sh*t for most of the year.

It's weird when we have even EA/Activision (Apex, CoD) treating their multiplayer games better than Rockstar. 

 

2020 has been a hell of a year.

...huh: just realised that the Halloween Pass doesn't offer any gold bars - so unlike the regular Outlaw Passes, you can't make back the cost of the pass by completing all the ranks.

The rolling block variant looks great, it's a shame I don't use it though... I main the Carcano rifle for my sniping needs, but I barely use that rifle anyway.

No one wanted that i believe... they know they can go with it and more... there arent a lot of sandbox... much less western based... so yeah they can abuse our expectatives time and time again and we will be back for more. Also aside their usual modus operandi... covid didnt help us either.

I played for a few hours and already hit lvl 18, going up a few levels at a time when I sold some collections. Last year didn't go by that fast, what gives?

Not exactly what was wanted, especially the showdown mode. They really bombed on that one.

We wanted Undead Nightmare, or a small equivalent of it anyways. They give us reskinned stuff and a rehashed showdown mode....

There was never a Halloween pass last year, this is the first seasonal pass in general. They're intended to be short and sweet rather than a fully blown pass that's meant to last a couple of months.

 

For me it's one of their best ideas in a long while, just a shame the Halloween themed gameplay stuff is poopoo so I resorted to Collector to level it up.

In my opinion this update would have been cool to introduce a younger Seth (maybe encountering him in a saloon rambling on about his wacky stories). He could have gave us a few grave robbing locations to find the whereabouts of gold, maybe a special weapon but nothing game breaking and a few other surprises.

 

However, for the love of god not a damn glass eye

R* really dropped the ball with this one. First the mega disappointing Naturalist role and now this. I get that Covid-19 has probably played a hand in all of this, but I still can't get over how lazy all of this feels like.

 

RDO has never been a great gaming experience IMO. It's been OK and semi-fun in some aspects, but certainly not with these past two updates whatsoever. Was an Undead Overrun mode really too much to ask for? I suppose it was. Instead we got whatever crap this is.

 

Next time, listen to your customers and get your sh*t together, R*.

Really hate that they changed the Nightmare Stalker game to be four groups. I rarely like any PvP events but last year I did enjoy that halloween event. Now it just blows with the four group thing because some groups get more then one player while other groups are stuck with just one. Seems like last year it was random who ended up as the stalkers and who hunted them. Then you would find the masks to weaken the stalkers. This new version SUCKS!

First seasonal pass for this game which is a step in the right direction but this pass is shameful. Rockstar has been in the games industry long enough and to put this level of content out is embarrassing. I feel sorry for the designers working at R* being tarnished with how online is being handled.

Cool, pass done. Time to shelve the game until Christmas and see if R* buck up. I've had a good run with the quiet lobbies, but it's just too broken again now.

Lol, I guess there wasn't. Last year I spent a majority of the time in that special showdown mode so I don't remember much of what went on beyond that.

 

In retrospect though it makes some sense so that we can get those items early on and be able to enjoy them before the end of the season, leveling up just seemed to go so fast.

 

The one cool thing about all of this season's pass is that players are coming together to look at each other's spooky outfits. I did not see one player without a mask on them or their horse and it was just so neat to see everybody.

And watching a group of players running around with that knife emote was hilarious. That and hearing the npcs freak out is something else.

Also the guy at the fence was like "what's with all these folk in the masks?"

I'm neither happy nor upset at this pass. It's just a meh for me. I mean, we've known for a while now what was included in the pass, aside from the game mode. The real wait is for the December update.

 

Reading some of the complaints on here have been pretty funny though. Expectations needed to be tempered, because it's like Jason said - this pass is pure filler content and meant to be short and sweet. Think of it as an extension to Outlaw Pass 3 in the spirit of Halloween while we all wait for the next update and leave it at that.

2k does it too with NBA 2k. Every year the complaints are about exactly what they were the year before but people keep buying it expecting it to be fixed. Why they would think that after 5 or 6 years......

You know, I completely forgot Take Two owns R*. Oddly Take Two also owns Civilization 6 which is actually quite good and the frequent updates are great. Maybe 2k and R* are the 2 they chose to take and f*uck up completely.

True; though I admittedly hate lowering my expectations for a game that could be far better even through a handful of small tweaks.

I wonder what he says to the ones that go to him with the masks on? When I went to him to get my advanced bow that antler look upgrade he didn't even have a dialogue and I thought that was weird. Now I have to go back and chat with him with my mask on to see if he says anything.
