Well, when the oldest creative mind they have is about 12 years old, that's what happens. It's really, REALLY hard to believe adult minds come up with much of the stuff this bunch does and then talk about it like it's the greatest thing since the wheel.

I honestly, truly want to have a talk with some of the minds behind the creative aspects of this game. Just to get inside their heads, possibly figure out where they are going astray in releasing what they feel is awesome content, when it is nothing even close to being worthwhile.

Part of their thought process is obvious. You know the side that compels them to make everything they release have some sort of pvp element. Hell, at this point I believe that if we received our ranches and farms just going out and feeding our damn chickens would be a pvp induced challenge. A big dot would be shown across the map showing all players that you are intending on throwing down some corn for your hens, alerting players from far and wide that it's time to converge upon your lowly farm and take you out before you even get to the grain bags. Doesn't seem reasonable, and it really doesn't sound like a ton of fun, but hey R* might like the idea and that's what we'll get.

 

But I am not just being crude when I say I want to get in their heads, I just cannot fathom how they come to these ridiculous ideas?

Are the panthers hard to get to spawn now? Yesterday I couldn't get anything legendary to spawn, even the ones I had spawn frequently....

That's what it sounds like when someone praises R* for something as broken (and far removed from anything the playerbase wants) as this halloween content.

Rockstar really needs to take a good look on how Sucker Punch is doing things. Survivals in the new free addon in Ghost of Tsushima are tons and tons better than what the RDO Halloween update brings. PvE as it should be!
Been doing a few with @TheLordMarvel today and, although I'm not at decent level, had tons of fun. RDO is back to the 'do one easy daily and logoff' status again and this update isn't changing my mind.

so does anyone like any of this stuff? so far my opinion of it is its not terrible. and not as bad as a lot of people here say it is. sure i will admit that its not as good as undead nightmare or the story dlcs. in fact i think zombies with guns is horrible. but i actually had some fun. now im sure a lot of people will attack me for praising rockstar. but im sick of seeing so much negativity. it would be nice to see some positive thoughts on this. and just because someone praises rockstar for doing something you dont like. does not mean they are bad or stupid. if people have fun with this new stuff then how does that affect the people that hate it?

I think is better than almost any update rockstar has produced in its last games... that is because is a growing company thats competence in the genre and thus is forced to produce quality... they were working from home too surely.

So what you're saying is, if someone doesn't like this or something R* does, they shouldn't share their opinion? I don't mean that to attack you of course, not my intention. Just that's how it would be if people can't be honest with their opinions in a thread made to share theirs on the latest additions.

 

If you're seeing so much negativity, there has to be a reason for that unfortunately. I'd love nothing more than to be fighting off hoards of zombies or other beasties during this spooky spell in a map I feel oozes atmosphere for all that, and I'd be full of praise had they delivered at least a little something something. It's a huge missed opportunity I believe.

 

For near 2 years now players have been long wanting survivals, and when something like this Halloween event comes and something like what players have wanted for ages arrives, but R* tack on a petty PvP element to it, of course it's going to get a certain amount of negativity. It's fully deserved.

 

It further shows just how little they're listening and full of lies when they announced that we were to shape what this game is to become. They're actively ignoring many more common requests again, and that's always going to draw negative heat.

 

As for how it affects those that dislike it, that's obvious to me, IMHO. It means the players that dislike it get nothing new from the game, in a game that's pretty thin on content and/or still so broken much of it doesn't spawn ('cos interactions', lol). There's more than enough room in this game for R* to please all playstyles but they simply refuse to do so, aside the few Le Clerk missions, near everything has PvP tacked on, at least potentially. And when you consider that even R* themselves have publicly stated they themselves believe their playerbase more wants PvE content but gets served some sh*tty PvP mode, of course they earn the flack as it proves they're just stupid or outright lying.

 

Had they added this new mode but with both PvP and PvE variables, they'd please so many more players and not see one playstyle or the other disappointed. Seems so simple to me how R* could entertain more players all round. Everybody wins.

 

I'm not against people liking this stuff, enjoy away. I'm not out to stop other playstyles enjoying RDRO, just I want the game R* advertised and promised my playstyle too. Though I am against those that are happy with it and want those wanting alternative content to never get any, of which many do. After all, can't go killing randoms for no reason with ease if they're tucked up enjoying PvE naturally, and there's plenty that desperately need their targets to be such sitting ducks.

of course people can have their own opinion. i was just saying that i wanted to see if anyone had any positive opinions on it. i already expect to see negative posts. because i see it every week. it would be nice to get some different thoughts thats all. aside from that you make a good point with the rest of what you said.

I can respect that. Personally I'm close to unlocking the shack decor and am looking forward to seeing it up close in there, that's an aspect I was keen on seeing once the list of unlocks was leaked, I've not looked for other players pictures/videos to look at it though, I'll see it soon. 

 

Also quite pleased the Halloween pass isn't too taxing to progress too. Those types of things can be hit and miss with how much effort they can be to complete them and am often cautious in case thry grow in how much Xp is needed or their cost of entry, so gotta give credit there. It's quite casual and makes things more enjoyable for me at least.

Yeah, I'm rank 18 already just doing the 9/9 pursuit job dailies; I almost just "bought" the levels, since I have

604 gold (glad I didn't.) 

 

It seems like you do a couple of dailies and go up a level in the pass

Really wanting that Gothic Decor (plus the blue "day of the dead" horse mask.)

It does seem to make a difference for me, with the 12 or so other people in the lobby now (though I still usually see none of them... )

 

As you say, my camp around Hennington's Stead ALWAYS seems to have me bump into the Legendary coyote; I've not seen it once

since more people are in the lobby (with maybe only EVER seeing one player, as a blue dot.)

I just hope that R* pulls their finger out and gives us a massive update. All the stuff they were working on this year but didn't have time to finish because of "work from home". New consoles, new players etc is a good opportunity to give us something along the lines of Frontiers Pursuits. Not multiple Roles but clothing hair etc additions on that scale.

I finally got one of the panthers to spawn right when I started the game, but nothing else in the hours after that. There is that boar down south of tall trees that always seemed to pop up when I played, so much so I ignored him after a while. But he is a no show now too.. I guess I'm glad we worked on getting as many of those legendary animals as we could before this happened because just getting one of them to spawn is a nightmare.

Got my Nightstalker panther & rank twenty on day two. Thought both would take a bit longer, but I am satisfied, been wanting a dark panther pelt since they dropped the role.

Is this new game mode supposed to be fun? I played a few rounds and it basically boils down to “lock on to an AI instead of an enemy player, get killed by player, then get spawn killed by player who has the Beast Mode powerup”. Whether you’re winning or losing, it’s just boring.
