It had been known for many months they were working with R*, but seems like they decided to take it a step further.

It made sense considering their past, and current connections. I still theink they're working on GTA V next-gen. So it really just makes sense to bring them into the company, officially.

Wonder what their role(s) will be. As the article states they will probably help out with the next gen release of GTA V but I can't help but wonder which aspects will they work on.

I highly doubt they are going to work on a new title alone. Since GTA V the studios have been working together on new titles.

Yeah. Ruffian have typically been a support studio. Their work with games like Forza and Halo were just that. The most notable game they developed was Crackdown 2, which wasn't overly popular.

Better to link directly to the Companies House, as those links are temporary and it now shows an Access Denied error.

Only link I came across. Not my area of expertise, I'm afraid.

I wonder what colour scheme they'll choose for the logo 🤔

I think they're going to use a version of the logo in this video.

I personally bet on black and white like their corporate logo, or yellow and blue like their current Twitter avatar.

My first thought was black and white, but they use that for the Rockstar Warehouse. Although, they could just change it, if they even really use it much anymore. But yeah, my guess is yellow.

Why do they need 3 in England and 2/3 in the US?

I'd say it would because the other ones you mentioned are far apart enough to where commuting from one to another is redundant. In this case, why even bother opening a new Rockstar studio? Just move the people over to North and that way you don't have two locations within spitting distance from one another.

That makes so sense whatsoever. Commuting between the two cities is a pain in the ass special in peak times, it takes an hour+ with a car off peak, if you have a car. By train is two hours+, if you get the train, if it doesn't get cancelled, if it a snow flake doesn't hit the tracks.

So it does make sense?

Lol but typos aside, why doesn't Rockstar close down North's studio and open up a studio between the two cities if commuting from one to the other is such a pain? Idk but something tells me that Rockstar made this buy just for the sake of buying a studio. Could they be turning into the next EA that's just scooping up any studio they come across?

I think you're extremely overthinking it. They've just brought a small studio into the company, that they have a long running history with. It's extremely silly to close a massive building at Rockstar North just to move them both to a new location. The logistics of that are completely illogical. They have a studio in Leeds and Lincoln, distance isn't an issue. They now just own them, and can use them how and when they want, without having to worry if they're busy with other projects.

This purchase is indeed most likely development work for GTA V Next Gen but also probably connected to official past history of the series considering the very first GTA was done by DMA

Design in Dundee not a few metres from the office that I work in and am typing this forum post from in Dundee Tech Park.

Given the current climate in my local area work wise with the Coronavirus pandemic and working from home and what not I suspect this was also giving the firm some financial security and safeguarding

jobs that may potentially have been lost.

Also if I remember there building location correctly it is yellow/black paint so very much likely to use those colours for the logo!
