GTA VI ""Leaks"" Analysis Thread

From the perspective of generally being pretty skeptical of these leaks, I actually have a pretty good counter-point to this inherently disproving the Fred's Fun World / Quincy World map: Rockstar has been known to use stock photos for in-game art assets in the past. Not just does using a small bit of a suit to finish up something that would otherwise have to be designed and rendered from the ground-up seem fairly within the realm of possibility of something an artist would do to streamline the process, but there's also an extensive Photoshop effort being employed to blend in the stock portion of the image with the (presumably original) art of the man's face - so, for the whole image to be fake, you would not just need the talent of a good artist who can draw the amusement park's map and digitally color it, but also the talent of someone who can do some fairly professional photo-editing to integrate that stock asset within what they were provided with. 

 

Does this confirm the legitimacy of the image? Well, not really, but it certainly raises the stakes on its credibility, at least. Worst case scenario, we might just be looking at the single most effort someone's put into producing a fake leak in a very long time, and that is pretty impressive.

This doesn't really disprove it imo, its not unlikely for a big budget production to use a stock photo instead of finding a turkey-necked model during COVID for an Art Graphic.

Exactly. But for years, waaaaay before COVID, game developers have been using and reusing stock assets for a long time, some of these go back to the 1990s.

 

Even GTA 4/5 had a lot of textures that were from the 3D Universe games in hi-res.

 

GTA 3's promos used a lot of generic stock images.

I also think the map that was made is a little off compared to the leaks... no offense or anything, just an observation... and I think that plane shot is smaller than we think since we are up in the sky... more like this

If you think about it, the roommate story might have some credence to it because - as of now - majority of companies in the UK (where GTA is mainly developed) are still working from home. It'd be way easier to snap a photo of something like this from a developers PC while they're working from home, than from the office. That's just my two cents.

 

For the supposed radio station leak, you can easily disprove those logos by taking that photo to a Font website and have the community there help identify them, as far as I know a lot of the radio station logos made in the past where all custom made i.e hand drawn on a tablet or otherwise, then saved as a vector file.

Holy moly this map actually might be real. For context, Fred Quincy has only been mentioned in text form, on one of the murder mystery letters in GTA V - he's never been shown, and neither has this. 

 

 

I do remember years back on 4chan and or reddit a list radio stations being leaked and one was for what was called "Fred Quincys world resort" I have not been able to find that post for a few years. This was like 2018/19 so maybe we are actually onto something finally! We can only hope!

I put the face from Fred's Fun World into PimEyes.com (Face search machine). This is what i found.

Like the neck that was taken from a stockphoto, this face was *PROBALLY* taken from this picture. He just made a few changes (Color, hair,...)

 

So the leak is probally fake.

There are a couple of images that leaked though that interested me. 

First one being the bottom left one. Seen a few people say its from cities skylines, and id quite confidently say it is, though with a sun photoshopped onto the picture. I recently have been getting into xplane myself, and because I live in the south of the UK, I decided to purchase ORBX's TrueEarth Great Britain South scenery package. Personally Id say the colours present in that image (mainly around vegetation) are quite similar to what's present in my scenery addon. So after a quick search I found that ORBX also offer a TrueEarth Package of Florida. The reason I think its X-plane is because of how flat the buildings in the image look, which is a result of the terrain being made out of satellite imagery with generated building slapped on top in some places. The clouds look photoshopped on tbh though. It could also be that the image is just a really low quality image of real life.

Of course, non of this proves they are fake, this is just what i thought of when first seeing the images and relating them to games I've played before. 

One last thing, I just want to point out how different each screenshot is graphically. One is very oversaturated and washed out, but with what seems to be a painted on skybox with real life clouds. One is quite toned down in colouring, almost grey scaled and much closer to real life with seemingly volumetric clouds. And one is very dark even though the sun is quite high up, and has no clouds at all. What I'm saying is, there is no consistency in the images.

Now I don't buy that these were made by the same individual, so I made a comment and I'll embed my analysis here.

 

Judging the two images at face value, the Quincy Map is clearly higher quality, taken with a better camera. The resolution it was uploaded at is 1920x1280, a 1.5:1 aspect ratio and fairly common for photos taken with DSLR cameras.

The second image is actually a higher resolution, 4160x3120, and the aspect ratio is 4:3. COULD also be a DSLR, but the quality is clearly drastically lower. That could be due to the dark room, but unlikely.

Whoever uploaded the image of the icons named the image "jaredscreen42220airwaveimagery.jpg" the implication being it was taken by the same person as the Quincy Map, and also taken on the same day? The Quincy Map file is named "jaredscreen42220NEW.jpg" So, supposedly both of these images were taken of his roommates computer on the same day?

If these were done by the same individual, I'd imagine they would be taken with the same camera. Aside from the aspect ratio and quality, we can see heavy fisheye distortion on the quincy image from the DSLR cameras lens : https://i.imgur.com/4ulEfx8.png

Also, it's fairly clear the two images were taken on a different monitor. The Quincy image was clearly taken on a computer monitor, likely a basic ASUS monitor as you can see I found here the power button is in a different spot. The radio icon image was clearly taken on a laptop.

Now, considering these were both taken on 4/22/20, is it likely that both his roommate switched from his desktop to a laptop, AND the OP switched from taking a photo with his fisheye DSLR to a poor quality phone camera?

It COULD be the case. What's more likely is that the two posts were made by different people, and the second individual who made these radio icons was likely piggybacking off of the previous Quincy World leak.

If the Quincys Theme Park is actually real. Who wants to bet its only available for a single mission and after that mission its locked unless you mod it back in on PC. Because you know... Rockstar.

 

Also last Tuesday I was on Bus in the middle of nowhere Idaho and this guy all the way up at the front of the bus run up to me and said "I have to poop. Don't look at my laptop while im pooping I'm working on grand theft auto 6."  So when he went to go poop I ran to the front of the bus and took a picture of his laptop. I couldn't believe my eyes. No idea if its real or he was a troll. Graphics look a bit weird but since its coming out in 2024 maybe its just beta. What do you guys think?

To be fair, the 'new leaked' ones seem to have a lot more variety and could be real. 

However, that being said, I know for a fact that creating logo's for both fun and/or learning purposes (during school/university assignments) is a thing. 
During my study I had to create a heap of fake logo's to get skilled in Illustrator. I am sure that some could definitely have passed as GTA Radio station logo's.

 

I like the new logo leak tho, there is a lot of variety between them and they feel 'Vice City'esque to me. But are they real? I wouldn't know. They could be, but on the other hand they can also be fakes.

Creating logo's is a whole lot easier than creating that amusementpark pic or a (concept) map.

BTW: I will reinstall the Crew 2 today and check if I can create a similar photograph as the plane one. Then we'll quickly know if it is a screengrab from that game or not.

Yea.. the car pic is definitely fake.. I think the Skylines looking screens are too tbf.

 

I can't make my mind up on the plane shot tho or the maps and Quincy World stuff.

Another blurry picture with the same debug overlays we already have discussed and deemed fake? Why has the game looked different 3 times already with the same "debug" bullsh*t?   First it looked like Cities Skylines, then The Crew or something, now it looks like GTA V pointing up at the sky, all in the matter of months. If only that's how it worked.

We already know this guy is very desperately trying to match his minimap with the "leaked" map. They even made the date blurry this time because we noticed how it was wrong, or I did in my post, and how the difference between dates in the previous  two screenshots and how the game looked like made no sense. Now instead of saying the platform it says "Overture"? Lmao.

Yeah the guy from the car and night overview came forward to be a faker. 

The plane wasn't debunked (yet) however (different poster), but the others are. 

 

IMO the faker saw the pic of the plane and thought 'lemme create some similar looking fakes'.

*Also, radio station icons aren't that much work to do. I know a dozen of people (including myself) who had to create fake logo's for education purposes during our study to get skilled in Illustrator. A bunch of those would easily pass as GTA radio station logo's.

The Quincy World and Radio Station leaker seems like some random graphic designer practicing his skills and also taking the opportunity to f*ck with the community lol. I honestly see it as a good incentive to praciticing your skills- a lot of people complimented the Quincy World leak saying how real it looked.

 

Anyways, the guy who did the Radio Station leak got tired with designing so many radio station logos and just decided to put a question mark over the rest lol.

In terms of the "Fred's Fun World" leak, if you look at the date on the pc it's actually from over a year ago (22nd of April 2020). So I'm not sure why this has only been shared now.
